Abstract

AbstractObjective The study aim to investigate the effect of ownership concentration on the financial performance of firms listed in the Indonesian Stock Exchange from 2008 to 2012.Design/methodology Data for the study were collected from the Indonesia Stock Exchange on or prior to 2 January 2008 and remain listed until 31 December 2012. The population is 140 industrial and manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. But, there are only 43 companies meet the sampling criteria. To investigate the influence of ownership concentration on firm performance in Indonesia, multiple linear regression method was performed. Results The results of this study is the ownership concentration positively and significantly influences firm performance in Indonesia and it acts as a substitute for shareholder protection.Research limitations/implications The samples are only collected from manufacturing industry and does not take into account the shareholder identity. It is quite possible that shareholder identity influences the relationship between ownership concentration and firm performance. Therefore, future researchers are advised to take into account the shareholder identity so that it becomes clear whether shareholder identity indeed has an effect on such relationship.

Abstract

Wastewater treatment for small-scale motorcycle washing businesses must be efficient, not require large areas of land, be easy to operate and be economical. Through this study, it is hoped that the community can apply it to the motorcycle washing business through wastewater treatment using a simple filtration method. The method chosen for this community service activity is the provision of material/counseling, discussion, and continued training in making motorbike washing waste processing equipment (APel CiTor). This activity is specifically aimed at car wash entrepreneurs whose waste has not been treated. The decrease in detergent levels is also caused by the filter media used, namely sand and banana stems. Sand whose nature is in the form of porous, degraded, and uniformity-free grains. With materials that are relatively easy to find, the community (motorcycle wash entrepreneurs) are already able to make ApeL CiTor (motorcycle washing waste processing equipment) at their respective business locations.

Abstract

Many commercial yogurt brands do not have a minimum total lactic acid bacteria count (107 CFU/g) due to long distribution with inappropriate storage condition. This leads local producers to produce yogurt. However, commercial yogurt maker machines commonly have a low capacity of 0.5 to 2 L. This study aims to design a yogurt maker machine with a capacity of 15 L with a temperature setting of 37 – 45 ℃. The design and flow system were conducted by arranging the electronic components consisting of 5V 4 channel relay, ESP32 module, DS18B20 temperature sensor, RTC, 12V fan (along with 12 VDC connecting components), 220V heater, 20×4 LCD and plugs (adapter) 220 VAC cable. The yogurt maker machine was evaluated for accuracy of temperature readings (DS18B20 sensor and thermometer), response to incubation time and plain yogurt making. The T-Test was used to compare the differences between the two types of sensors measuring instruments. The results showed that the accuracy of temperature readings using the DS18B20 sensor was better than a thermometer, with a distance scale of 0.35-0.75 ℃ (P-value ≤ 0.05). Temperature testing using milk can be carried out with a temperature range of 37-45 ℃ for 12 h. Keywords:  DS18B20, Temperature, Yogurt maker machine, Sensors

Abstract

Ground roasted coconut is used as a cooking spice, especially in Aceh, with distinctive aroma and fragrant taste. This study aimed to examine the effect of drying time and roasting time on the sensory and physicochemical characteristics of roasted coconut. This research was designed with two treatment factors in triplicate. First factor was the drying time (1, 3, and 5 h), and second factor was roasting time (5 and 10 min). The results showed that drying time has a significant effect on the aroma, color, taste, and air content. The longer the drying time, the higher the sensory characteristics: aroma, color, and taste of ground roasted coconut, but the percentage of water content of the roasted coconut produced is lower. The roasting time also affected the taste and aroma of ground roasted coconut. The longer the roasting process, the higher the sensory characteristics of the taste and aroma of ground roasted coconut. The interaction of drying time and roasting time only has an effect on the sensory taste of ground roasted coconut. Drying time and roasting time did not significantly affectted on fat content and free fatty acid content, both of these parameters are more influenced by other factors, such as drying temperature, harvest age and coconut quality.

Abstract

The victimology study on recouping state damages from criminal acts in tax crime is discussed in this essay. It is important to understand that the victim in tax criminal is the revenue state losses. The research method used is a juridical-empirical research method. The results of the study show that victims in a criminal incident are not always individuals, communities, legal entities, the private sector and the government. In cases of tax crime, the state must be given legal protection in accordance with the principles of benefit, fairness, balance, and legal clarity in the form of rules, legislation and specific practices both preventive and repressive in character that refer to the implementation of the protection of victims' rights. In order to maximize the recovery of losses on state revenues, tax investigators are given the authority to block and/or seize assets from taxpayers who do not use the ultimate remedy, allowing them to secure the early settlement of criminal fines. This is done by applying the principle of lex specialis derogate legi generali to Article 30 paragraph (2) of the Criminal Code.
