Abstract

Tanaman nilam adalah herba tropis penghasil minyak atsiri yang dalam perdagangan internasional dikenal juga sebagai minyak patchouli. Sebagai komoditas ekspor, minyak nilam mempunyai prospek yang bagus karena dibutuhkan secara kontinyu dalam industri parfum, kosmetik, sabun, obat-obatan dan lain-lain. Minyak nilam memberikan kontribusi sangat besar dalam penghasil devisa negara diantara minyak atsiri lainnya. Dalam pengembangan budidaya nilam sangat perlu diperhatikan kondisi tanahnya, kondisi tanah yang baik dapat membuat tanaman nilam tumbuh dengan optimal. Tanaman nilam dapat tumbuh baik pada tanah regosol, latosol dan alluvial, tanah-tanah tersebut bertekstur lempung berpasir atau lempung berdebu kemasaman tanah antara pH 6-7. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) pola faktorial yang terdiri dari 2 faktor. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) Pola Faktorial yang terdiri dari 2 faktor. Faktor pertama yaitu komposisi media tanam (M) yang terdiri dari 4 taraf, yaitu M1= tanah masam dan pupuk kandang sapi (2:1), M2 = tanah masam dan arang sekam (2:1), M3= tanah masam dan sabut kelapa (2:1) dan M4 = tanah masam dan ampas tebu (2:1). Kedua faktor dosis dolomit (D) yang terdiri dari 4 taraf, yaitu D0= 0 ton/ha, D1= 1 ton/ha, D2= 2 ton/ha dan D3= 3 ton/ha. Hasil terbaik diperoleh pada perlakuan kombinasi media tanam tanah masam dan pupuk kandang sapi (2:1) dengan dosis dolomit 2 ton/ha.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the antibacterial activity potential of fermented dragon fruit peel juice (Hylocereus polyrhizus) fermented using Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB) isolated from rice washing water (Beras Mayas). The process begins with the preparation of dragon fruit peel samples, which are washed, peeled, and mashed to obtain the juice. The juice is pasteurized and inoculated with a 5% LAB starter, with the addition of a 10% sugar solution before being incubated for 3, 7, 12, and 17 days at 37ºC. pH measurements were taken during fermentation, showing a significant decrease in pH, reaching the lowest value of 3.76 on day 17. The antibacterial activity was measured using the well-diffusion method with the fermented juice at a concentration of 100%, showing a very strong inhibition zone (>20 mm) against Propionibacterium acnes on day 7. The results indicate that the pH changes during fermentation are closely related to the antibacterial activity

Abstract

Desa Genengan memiliki potensi geografis yang mendukung budidaya anggur, namun pengembangannya oleh Kelompok Wanita Tani (KWT) “Sekar Arum” terkendala oleh keterbatasan pengetahuan teknik budidaya modern dan sistem pemantauan lingkungan yang masih konvensional. Program pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan anggota KWT mengenai budidaya anggur dan teknik grafting, (2) mengimplementasikan sistem pemantauan lingkungan berbasis Internet of Things (IoT), dan (3) menganalisis efektivitas pelatihan serta kendala adopsi teknologi. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi pelatihan teoritis dan praktik, implementasi demplot, serta pemasangan perangkat IoT yang memantau suhu, kelembaban tanah, intensitas cahaya, dan pH. Evaluasi menggunakan pretest-posttest dan kuesioner kepuasan. Hasil menunjukkan partisipasi 22 anggota (100%). Terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan yang signifikan dengan nilai rata-rata pretest 71,03 menjadi posttest 93,05 (gain 22,02 poin). Tingkat keberhasilan praktek grafting mencapai 75%. Berdasarkan angket yang telah dibagian diperoleh data bahwa keseluruhan peserta menyatakan materi yang disampaikan bermanfaat. Tingkat ketertarikan pada kegiatan 72,2% menyatakan sangat menarik serta 22,8% menyatakan menarik. Keseluruhan peserta menyatakan tertarik untuk melakukan budidaya anggur di rumah. Sistem IoT beroperasi dengan baik, meski mengalami kendala konektivitas internet. Analisis mengungkap penerimaan yang lebih tinggi terhadap materi budidaya konvensional dibandingkan teknologi IoT, serta ketergantungan pada infrastruktur digital sebagai penghambat utama. Program ini berhasil meningkatkan kapasitas teknis kelompok dan membuka jalan menuju pertanian presisi. Keberlanjutan memerlukan pendampingan lanjutan, penguatan aspek bisnis, dan solusi infrastruktur komunikasi yang adaptif.Kata kunci: budidaya anggur; IoT; kelompok wanita tani; pertanian presisi; pemberdayaan masyarakat

Abstract

Land degradation is a major constraint to agricultural productivity, with drylands particularly vulnerable to critical conditions. Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L. Moench) is a promising crop for such environments due to its adaptability and dual-purpose value for both biomass and sugar-rich stalks. This study evaluated the growth and yield response of four sorghum varieties—Super, Suri, Numbu, and Keller—to different rates of compound NPK fertilizer under dryland conditions. The experiment was arranged in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with two factors: sorghum varieties and five fertilizer doses (0, 10, 12, 14, and 16 g plant⁻¹), replicated three times. Data were subjected to ANOVA, and treatment means were compared using DMRT at the 5% significance level. Results showed that the Keller variety consistently produced the best agronomic performance, including plant height, number of leaves, stem segments, stem diameter, and biomass dry weight. Moreover, Keller combined with 12 g plant⁻¹ of NPK fertilizer produced the highest sap content (14.0% Brix), highlighting its potential as a dual-purpose sorghum. Leaf traits were most responsive at 14 g plant⁻¹, indicating that moderate-to-high fertilization enhances vegetative growth without excessive input. These findings demonstrate that varietal selection coupled with appropriate nutrient management is crucial for optimizing sorghum production in dryland systems. The study provides practical guidance for farmers and can inform future breeding and fertilizer recommendation programs for sustainable sorghum cultivation.

Abstract

Mas Kirana banana (Musa sp.) is a superior local variety from Lumajang, East Java, valued for its favorable fruit size and consumer preference. Conventional propagation of this variety is limited due to its low production of saplings (2–3 per clump), making large-scale cultivation inefficient. Tissue culture techniques offer an alternative approach to accelerate propagation. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of yeast extract and indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) on the in vitro growth of Mas Kirana banana explants. The experiment was arranged in a factorial completely randomized design (CRD) with two factors: yeast extract at four concentrations (0, 400, 800, and 1200 mg L⁻¹) and IAA at four concentrations (0, 0.75, 1.5, and 2.25 ppm). Growth responses were assessed based on shoot emergence, shoot height, root development, and leaf formation. Yeast extract significantly affected shoot emergence time; however, its effect was inhibitory rather than promotive. The control (0 mg L⁻¹) produced the fastest emergence (11 DAP), whereas higher yeast concentrations (400–1200 mg L⁻¹) delayed emergence to 13–22 DAP.. IAA significantly influenced shoot height, with the best performance at 1.5 ppm, while other growth parameters were not significantly affected. These findings indicate that the effectiveness of yeast extract and IAA is highly concentration-dependent, and their roles in improving micropropagation of Mas Kirana banana require further optimization. This study provides baseline information to support the development of more efficient tissue culture protocols for large-scale propagation of this important local variety.

Abstract

This research aims to obtain morphological character of Matoa (Pometia pinnata JR Forst & G Forst) plant. This research had been conducted from April to October 2021, in 5 Regency (Karanganyar, Klaten, Pati, Sukoharjo, and Surakarta) Central Java. The morphological characther based on direct observation through primary and secondary data recording, and documenting parts of an adult matoa plant with purposive random sampling. Data of morphological characterization of matoa was analyzed using descriptive analysis method with assistance of Ntsys v2.02i program. The results showed a morphological diversity of matoa plant accessions. Fifty (50) matoa accessions exhibit morphological diversity in plant height, canopy diameter, stem circumference, branching type, leaf colour, number of leaflets, compound leaf length, compound leaf petiole length, leaflet width, fruit density, fruit length, fruit weight, seed weight, and fruit skin colour.
