Abstract

This study discusses the implementation of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) in history education as an effort to improve motivation, learning outcomes, and strengthen the character traits of the Pancasila Student Profile, which include collaboration, mutual cooperation, and critical thinking. In response to the challenges of 21st-century education and the development of digital technology, teachers are required to create innovative, interactive, and relevant history learning experiences that are enjoyable and connected to students’ real-life contexts. The theoretical foundations of constructivism, experiential learning, and social-collaborative theory indicate that PjBL is effective in encouraging students to build knowledge through research, discussion, and independent exploration of historical sources. Findings from various empirical studies show that PjBL increases students’ motivation, participation, and conceptual understanding, while also strengthening historical literacy skills through source analysis, field observation, and the creation of historical products. PjBL has also been proven to develop 21st-century skills such as creativity, communication, critical thinking, and group collaboration that reflect the value of mutual cooperation. On the other hand, this study identifies several implementation challenges, including limited time, insufficient technological facilities, low initial student motivation, and minimal parental support. Nevertheless, integrating PjBL with the values of the Pancasila Student Profile within local history projects has been shown to shape students’ social-intellectual character while improving the quality of history learning. Therefore, PjBL is deemed appropriate as a primary approach for developing history education in the Merdeka Curriculum.

Abstract

The training and mentoring program on developing AI based teaching materials in Ogan Ilir aims to enhance the competencies of Social Studies (IPS) teachers in creating innovative and relevant learning resources aligned with current educational technology developments. This program consists of outreach activities, training sessions, and two days of intensive mentoring designed to help teachers utilize artificial intelligence (AI) in designing and producing engaging and interactive digital teaching materials. As an initial step, participants took a pretest to measure their baseline understanding of AI applications in teaching material development. During the training, participants received materials through interactive sessions, group discussions, and hands on practice using various AI tools to create learning content. At the end of the program, a posttest was conducted to evaluate participants’ competency improvement, with the results showing a significant increase in their technopedagogical skills. The program continued with monitoring and evaluation activities to ensure the implementation of the training outcomes in each school. Overall, this activity strengthened the ability of Social Studies teachers to effectively integrate AI in developing teaching materials, thereby improving the quality of the learning process.

Abstract

Musi River has a strategic role in the regional economic development of South Sumatra since the Sriwijaya Kingdom until the modern era. In addition, the Musi River is the main transportation route in South Sumatra. The river also supports trade, distribution of goods, as well as the development of tourism and culture-based creative economy. This research aims to analyze the role of the Musi River from the perspective of history and geography in supporting the regional economy. This research uses a literature study method with a qualitative descriptive approach to examine various written sources related to the history, transportation, trade, and tourism of the Musi River. Data was collected from journal articles, books, and official photographs to obtain a comprehensive analysis. The results show that the Musi River contributes significantly to domestic and export trade, especially through the Boom Baru port. In addition, the potential for water tourism and cultural festivals supports the development of the creative economy. However, challenges such as sedimentation and infrastructure modernization still need to be addressed. Therefore, further research is needed to optimize the sustainable use of the Musi River for South Sumatra's economic growth.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the use of e-booklet teaching materials in Advanced History subjects. This study is included in development research using direct observation techniques at the research location, namely SMA Negeri 18 Palembang, then questionnaires were distributed to 40 students in class XI F.8 as research subjects. E-booklets were developed using the Hannafin & Peck development model consisting of the needs analysis phase, design base, and development and implementation phases, each part of which is covered by evaluation and revision. The results of the study indicate that case method-based e-booklets are considered valid and effective for use in history learning. Validation by media, material, and language experts obtained a very valid category (89.7%), one-to-one and small group assessments obtained a very valid category (92.05%), the increase in post-test results was valid (88.8), along with the N-gain results reaching 0.82 which is included in the high or very effective category.

Abstract

Rendahnya pemanfaatan media pembelajaran digital dalam pembelajaran sejarah berdampak pada rendahnya pemahaman peserta didik. Terhusus terhadap materi masa praaksara pada Zaman Batu. Hasil observasi awal menunjukkan bahwa hanya 10 peserta didik kelas X.4 SMA Negeri 1 Keluang yang mencapai Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal (KKM). Selain itu, 90% peserta didik membutuhkan bahan ajar digital, sementara 79% guru masih menggunakan buku cetak dan hanya 5% memanfaatkan video pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan serta menguji kelayakan dan keefektifan video pembelajaran animasi berbasis inquiry learning. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian dan pengembangan (research and development) dengan model pengembangan Alessi dan Trollip yang meliputi tahap perencanaan, perancangan, dan pengembangan. Subjek penelitian adalah peserta didik kelas X.4 SMA Negeri 1 Keluang. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, angket, dan validasi ahli. Hasil uji coba menunjukkan respons peserta didik sebesar 85% dengan kategori sangat baik serta peningkatan hasil belajar dari 10 menjadi 25 peserta didik yang mencapai KKM. Validasi ahli menunjukkan media berada pada kategori valid hingga sangat valid. Dengan demikian, video pembelajaran animasi berbasis Inquiry Learning layak dan efektif digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran sejarah di SMA.

Abstract

History learning plays a crucial role in fostering historical awareness, fostering national character, and enhancing students' critical thinking skills. However, the history learning process in schools is often oriented toward memorization and the presentation of facts, rendering it less meaningful for students. The 21st century demands that teachers be innovative in designing active, collaborative, and real-life learning. This article aims to describe history teachers' strategies for designing meaningful learning in accordance with the demands of 21st-century competencies. The method used is a literature study, examining various theories, research findings, and the latest educational policies. The study results indicate that strategies teachers can implement include analyzing student characteristics, implementing innovative learning models such as Project-Based Learning and Inquiry Learning, utilizing digital technologies such as Augmented Reality and virtual museum tours, and implementing authentic project-based assessments. Through these strategies, teachers can create engaging, contextual, and meaningful history learning experiences, while simultaneously fostering students' historical thinking skills and national values ​​in the digital era.

Abstract

Paradigma pembelajaran abad 21 menekankan pada pengembangan kompetensi peserta didik secara holistik melalui pendekatan berbasis proyek. Untuk mengukur hasil pembelajaran berbasis proyek tugas guru adalah mendesain instrument penilaian yang berbasis proyek sebagai salah satu wujud kompetensi pedagogik. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian pada masyarakat ini adalah: mengembangkan kompetensi pedagogik guru dalam mendesain instrument penilaian berbasis  proyek dan meningkatkan pelayanan guru dalam  pelaksanaan pembelajaran melalui implementasi desain instrument penilaian berbasis projek. Metode dan bentuk kegiatan adalah pelatihan dan pendampingan.  Pelaksanaan kegiatan ini terdiri dari 5 tahapan yaitu sosialisasi, pelatihan, penerapan,  evaluasi, serta  keberlanjutan program. Mitra kegiatan ini adalah guru SMPN 1  Kabupaten Ogan Ilir. Tahapan sosialisasi berisi  kegiatan mendiskusikan masalah yang diangkat dalam  kegiatan pengabdian. Tahapan pelatihan berisi  kegiatan  pemaparan materi, simulasi, observasi dan evaluasi.  Tahap penerapan terdiri  kegiatan pendampingan implementasi, observasi, diskusi. Tahap evaluasi berupa evaluasi kegiatan. Tahap keberlanjutan program berisi monitoring keberlanjutan program. Hasil kegiatan menyimpulkan bahwa  kegiatan pengabdian ini  telah berhasil  meningkatkan  kompetensi pedagogik guru dalam mendesain instrument penilaian berbasis proyek. Kegiatan ini telah memunculkan budaya baru, kepedulian, dan paradigma positif  guru dalam mendesain instrument penilaian yang fokus pada proses tidak hanya hasil serta  memfasilitasi  terjadinya  kolaborasi peserta didik dalam pemecahan masalah dan  berfikir kritis.

Abstract

The Social studies has an important role in education, namely understanding the wider social world so that students are able to face the challenges of global issues. This research explores the transformation of social studies learning in the modern era, focusing on contemporary global issues such as climate change, geopolitical conflicts, economic disparities, health problems, and human rights violations. Through a qualitative-descriptive approach and literature study, this research examines the urgency of social studies education transformation in responding to these issues. The results show that social studies education needs to adopt more interactive and technology-based learning methods, integrate character values, improve digital literacy, and incorporate global issues into the curriculum, the key role of teachers as facilitators and continuous evaluation to ensure the effectiveness of the transformation. This study concludes that a comprehensive transformation of social studies learning is essential to prepare the younger generation to be responsible global citizens and able to contribute to a better society.

Abstract

The digital divide has become an increasingly relevant issue in the last five years, with significant impacts on the global education system. Differences in access to information and communication technology (ICT) in different regions, especially between urban and rural areas, affect the quality and equity of education. This research explores the impact of the digital divide on educational access, including limitations in the use of digital-based learning tools, students' low digital skills and lack of adequate infrastructure. This gap not only hinders teaching and learning but also exacerbates socio-economic inequality. This research also discusses mitigation efforts that have been made by governments, educational institutions and international organizations, as well as recommendations to reduce the gap in the future. Thus, the digital divide needs to be the focus of attention in education reform to create a more inclusive and sustainable education system.

Abstract

Tulisan berjudul ”Telaah Geomorfologis Kerajaan Sriwijaya adalah sebuah kajian pustaka atas sumber-sumber yang relevan. Tujuan tulisan ini yaitu menelaah letak Kerajaan Sriwijaya secara geomorfologis. Kerajaan Sriwijaya merupakan kerajaan maritim terbesar di nusantara yang sebagian besar ahli berpendapat terletak di daerah palembang dan Jambi. Sebutan sebagai kerajaan maritim ini sesuai dengan kondisi geomorfologis Kerajaan Sriwijaya terletak di pantai dalam arti bahwa lokasi Jambi di tepi teluk dan Palembang di ujung jazirah.
