Abstract

This study aims to develop social studies teaching materials focused on conflict resolution education, addressing the unique needs of Class VII students in Pasaman, Indonesia. Conflict resolution is a crucial skill in today's global context, particularly in social studies, which integrates essential principles and competencies. Using Branch’s ADDIE research method, the study highlights the urgent need for a specialized guidebook tailored to Pasaman's local context and cultural nuances. Data collection revealed that 57.6% of students had low comprehension of conflict resolution, 28.2% medium, and 14.1% high. These findings emphasize the importance of differentiated instructional materials that cater to diverse learning needs. The proposed guidebook is designed not only to improve conflict resolution skills but also to incorporate elements of local wisdom, fostering a more relevant and engaging learning experience. The study further underscores the collaborative role of stakeholders in developing materials that align with students' understanding levels and cultural backgrounds. By bridging the gap between theory and practice, this research offers a model for creating inclusive, context-specific teaching strategies. The novelty of this study lies in its focus on local adaptation, contributing to a more effective learning process and supporting efforts to cultivate peace and resilience in educational settings.

Abstract

Indonesia, as a multicultural country with a wide diversity of cultures, religions, and ethnicities, emphasizes the importance of promoting inclusivity and preserving local identity through education. This study aims to evaluate the suitability of multicultural themes and representations of West Javanese cultural contexts in 1,000 books donated by the National Library to 10,000 community reading parks in 2024. This study is a qualitative descriptive study using the content analysis method. The population in this study was books obtained from Librarians at the National Library, while the sample was selected using a purposive sampling technique, which came from 1000 books with a multicultural context and representation of the West Java cultural context. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques were carried out using content analysis. The results showed that 35.19% of the books evaluated discussed multicultural themes. This theme was more common at the intermediate and advanced reader levels (B3 and C) than at the beginner level (A). Books specifically themed around West Java only represented 4.81% of the collection, highlighting the limitations of local cultural narratives. This study concludes that there is great potential to strengthen regional identity, foster pride in cultural heritage, and provide insight into traditional values through the provision of books on cultural heritage.

Abstract

This study maps the development of local wisdom research in Indonesia using a bibliometric approach to identify publication trends, dominant themes, emerging topics, and research gaps. Data were retrieved from Google Scholar on 13 May 2024, covering publications from 2015 to 2024. After screening and deduplication, 545 validated documents were analyzed using Publish or Perish, Mendeley, and VOSviewer through citation analysis, keyword co-occurrence, network visualization, overlay visualization, and density mapping. The results show a substantial increase in publication output, particularly after 2022, indicating growing scholarly attention to local wisdom in relation to education, culture, and sustainable development. The dominant thematic clusters are centered on character education, curriculum integration, student learning, and value transmission demonstrating that local wisdom has primarily been positioned as pedagogical within indonesian scholarship. Overlay analysis reveals a shift from preservation-oriented studies toward implementation-based themes such as innovation, strategy, and contextual learning. However, weak keyword connectivity is found in areas related to student engagement, participatory learning, experiential approaches, digital preservation, and interdisciplinary collaboration, indicating underexplored directions in the current literature. The findings further suggest that local wisdom research in Indonesia is more education-oriented than ecological or governance-oriented, differing from several international trends in indigenous knowledge studies. Future research should therefore prioritize student-centered learning models, technology-supported cultural preservation, and stronger collaboration between educational institutions and local communities.
