Abstract

Abstract

Twenty first century science education demands innovation and creativity in instructional practices, along with educators’ ability to select approaches that align with students’ characteristics. Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) has emerged as a relevant strategy for fostering effective, inclusive, and contextual learning. This study reviews ten articles using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method to examine the effectiveness and optimization of CRT implementation in science learning. The literature analysis indicates that CRT not only enhances learning outcomes, interest, engagement, 21st-century skills, and critical thinking abilities, but also promotes the integration of local cultural contexts, making learning more meaningful. Implementation challenges such as limited time, insufficient understanding of students’ cultural backgrounds, and resistance to new methods require optimization strategies in the form of contextual planning, the use of interactive media, and integration with innovative learning models. These findings emphasize the need to adapt CRT-based teaching methods to meet the needs of diverse learners while providing practical recommendations for educators in its implementation.

Abstract

Islamic universities in Indonesia face significant challenges in balancing Islamic values with the needs of modern education and global competition. The dynamics of changes in national higher education policies and the demands of international accreditation create adaptive pressure for these institutions to transform without losing their distinctive identity. This research aims to analyze the effectiveness of Islamic higher education policies in integrating Islamic values with international academic standards, as well as identifying optimal policy models for institutional development in the digital era. How can Islamic universities develop policies that strengthen Islamic identity while increasing global competitiveness? What are the challenges of implementing scientific integration policies in Islamic universities? The research used a qualitative approach with a case study method at five leading Islamic universities. Data were collected using library research method, by analyzing various sources from books and journals related to the theme of the mutual relationship between politics and policy and education in Islamic universities. The study identified three models of effective integration policies: (1) transformative-adaptive model, (2) conservative-selective model, and (3) progressive-innovative model. Policy implementation is influenced by leadership, organizational culture, and capacity factors. Universities that implement the transformative-adaptive model show an optimal balance between strengthening Islamic values and increasing global competitiveness.

Abstract

Adolescents are a vulnerable group to depression and suicidal ideation; however, limited studies have explored the dynamic process of resilience as a protective mechanism from adolescents’ subjective perspectives within mental health care settings. This research gap highlights the need to understand how resilience is formed, interpreted, and functions in the psychological recovery of adolescents at risk of suicide. This study employed an interpretative phenomenological approach to explore the lived experiences of six adolescents diagnosed with depression and suicidal risk factors. Data were analyzed using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). Three interrelated themes emerged: (1) complex emotional experiences as triggers of psychological crisis, (2) the construction of resilience through self-acceptance and spirituality, and (3) social support as a catalyst for strengthening adaptability. The synthesis of these themes indicates that resilience is not a static trait but a dynamic meaning-making process that fosters hope amid psychological distress. This study contributes to the theoretical understanding of adolescent resilience by emphasizing the interplay between intrapersonal and contextual factors. It provides a conceptual foundation for developing meaning-centered and socially supported clinical interventions aimed at preventing depression and suicidal ideation among adolescents.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze medication adherence among pulmonary tuberculosis patients by examining the roles of patients’ knowledge level and treatment duration within a TB DOTS clinical setting. Methodology: A quantitative analytic study with a cross-sectional design was conducted among 89 pulmonary tuberculosis patients at the TB DOTS Clinic of Pasar Minggu Regional General Hospital. Data were collected using structured questionnaires and clinical records. Univariate analysis described respondent characteristics, while bivariate analysis using the Chi-Square test examined the relationships between study variables. Findings: The results showed that most patients demonstrated poor knowledge of tuberculosis and associated with levels of medication adherence. A statistically significant relationship was found between patients’ knowledge and medication adherence, indicating that higher knowledge levels were associated with better adherence. In contrast, treatment duration was not significantly associated with medication adherence. Implications: These findings highlight the importance of strengthening patient education within tuberculosis control programs, as improved knowledge may enhance adherence and support successful treatment outcomes. Originality: This study provides empirical evidence from a real-world DOTS clinical setting by integrating patient knowledge and treatment duration in adherence analysis. The findings demonstrate that patient knowledge may play a more influential role than treatment duration in shaping medication adherence, offering a patient-centered contribution to tuberculosis care research.
