Abstract

Education has explored and used a variety of approaches in an effort to increase the learning and teaching process for adult learners. Online learning requires learners to be self-motivated and disciplined since they have more control over their schedule and learning environment. Some learners may struggle with staying motivated, managing their time effectively, or maintaining focus without the structure and accountability of a traditional classroom. Self-discipline and motivation are key factors in achieving success in online learning. Here are some strategies to foster self-discipline and maintain motivation in an online learning environment. Heutagogy has recently become a learning method for adult learners. In the heutagogy approach, students are highly autonomous and emphasize the development of students' abilities, with the goal of cultivating students who are ready to face the complexities of today's work world. This method implements a learning approach to an online learning system using the internet and other new technologies to develop and provide teaching methods. Based on recent literature reviews, this article discusses the heutagogy approach in supporting online learning systems. This article provides a basis for using heutagogy as a theory to discuss and study the use of new technologies in online learning. By acknowledging and actively addressing these challenges, institutions and educators can enhance the quality and effectiveness of online learning experiences and better support their students in achieving their learning goals.

Abstract

This article describes the problem of usury law from the perspective of public understanding. As for some of the Sungai Rantai people who consider usury to be a common practice that they have done since long ago from their ancestors, the Sungai Chain community considers usury to be a source of their livelihood because the profit they get is many times that of them. seek honest income or lawful livelihoods, therefore the Sungai Rantai community often commits acts of usury. It is said that usury is one of the major sins in Islam, because it leads to destruction. Therefore, providing understanding to the public actually aims to advance an economic system that is compassionate, more just, more balanced social relations and ethical values that are in line with Islamic teachings

Abstract

Abstract

There are gaps between vocational engineering curricula and industry competency needs, especially in information and communication technology (ICT) competency. However, limited studies have been conducted on factors affecting ICT competency among vocational engineering students, particularly attitudes toward ICT utilization. Thus, this study aims to determine the attitude and the relationship toward ICT competency among vocational engineering students based on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology II (UTAUT II). It was conducted in Higher Education Institutions in West Sumatera, Indonesia. It was a survey study with a quantitative method that used one set of questionnaires to collect data. Respondents are 805, covering first-year and last-year students enrolled in those institutions by purposive sampling. Data were analyzed descriptively for mean and standard deviation, and inferentially by employing Pearson Correlation. Findings showed that the ICT competency among vocational engineering students was lower than their attitude toward ICT utilization. A high attitude only is not enough to support the competency. Thus, this study can be used as a guide by the relevant authorities such as the Ministry of Education Affairs to take action to enhance the ICT competency among vocational engineering students from other aspects.

Abstract

Flakes are a type of instant food product commonly consumed as a breakfast alternative, especially those labelled “low-glycaemic index” can be suitable for individuals with diabetes. Taro tubers (Colocasia esculenta L.) containing high fibre and low fat are among the raw materials that can be processed into instant food. Therefore, this study aimed to develop and determine the glycaemic index (GI) of Taro tuber flakes as an alternative processed food product for individuals with diabetes. Three distinct formulas, namely F1, F2, and F3, were developed with varying drying temperatures of 40 °C, 60 °C, and 80 °C. These were comprehensively evaluated through sensory testing (hedonic and scoring), followed by the analysis of moisture content, ash content, microbial examination, and glycaemic index. The results showed that all three developed formulas F1, F2, and F3 xhibited low glycaemic index values (below 55), along with acceptable moisture and ash content, and were free from Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhi contamination. Among them, F2, which was dried at 60 °C, showed the lowest glycaemic index value of 15.1, indicating its potential to produce a minimal postprandial blood glucose response. Furthermore, F2 received an average hedonic score of 6, which indicates favorable sensory acceptance in terms of taste, color, texture, and aroma. Therefore, F2 was selected as the most suitable formula that can be consumed as an alternative food product to help manage diabetes through low-GI dietary strategies.
