Abstract

Drought is a condition in which rainfall falls below normal for a certain period and becomes a major threat to the sustainability of peatlands, as it can increase the risk of forest fires. This study analyzes the drought index in the peatlands of Siak Regency using the Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) method based on CHIRPS satellite data on the Google Earth Engine (GEE) platform, and evaluates the relationship between SPI values and Groundwater Table Depth (TMAT). The CHIRPS rainfall dataset used to calculate SPI spans the period from 1993 to 2024. SPI values were then compared with groundwater table depth at three locations from 2019 to 2024 to assess the relationship between the two variables. The results indicate spatial and temporal connections within the study area, with several drought periods occurring simultaneously. The most significant drought event occurred in 2019, with peak intensity in August, affecting the entire study region. Regression analysis between SPI and groundwater table depth revealed a positive relationship, indicating that when rainfall decreases or SPI values are negative, the groundwater table tends to decline. However, the correlation was relatively weak, likely influenced by other factors such as peat soil characteristics, evapotranspiration, drainage, human activities, and others. Nevertheless, the relationship between these two variables can serve as a preliminary step in utilizing SPI as an importan

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between self-disclosure and interpersonal communication among first-year students at the Faculty of Psychology and Health, Universitas Negeri Padang. A quantitative approach with a correlational method was employed. The sample consisted of 505 students selected through total sampling. Data were collected using two psychological scales: the self-disclosure scale developed by Setiawan (2022), based on Leung's (2002) dimensions, and the interpersonal communication scale developed by Siregar (2019), referring to DeVito’s (2011) components. The self-disclosure scale comprised 32 items, while the interpersonal communication scale consisted of 38 items. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation with the assistance of JASP software. The results revealed a positive and significant relationship between self-disclosure and interpersonal communication. This indicates that the higher the level of students’ self-disclosure, the better their interpersonal communication skills. Conversely, low self-disclosure is associated with weaker communication abilities. These findings affirm that self-disclosure is a key factor in fostering effective communication, particularly during the initial stages of campus life adaptation.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to see the effect of work life balance on work stress on female teachers who have a family in Koto Tangah District. This study uses purposive sampling techniques, determining samples with certain considerations. The subject of this study was 110 teachers. The data collection method in this study uses the work life balance scale and work stress. Data is processed by using simple regression analysis. Hypothesis test results with a significance value (p-value) of 0.000, indicate that the effect of the work life balance variable on work stress variables is very significant. While the negative regression coefficient of -0,724 in this study shows that each increase in work life balance will reduce the level of work stress by 0.724. The correlation coefficient (R) of 0.525 shows a positive linear relationship between work life balance and work stress.

Abstract

As a student, students are required to be able to complete the lecture level with satisfactory grades. In reality, many students are not only responsible for studying but also have other responsibilities such as organisations, work and family. Common demands experienced by students such as getting good grades, getting a job, building a career and some are also required to get married immediately. Demands that exceed the limits of the ability of students will trigger the onset of psychological distress. Psychological distress is a condition or unpleasant feeling that is felt subjectively by individuals. Distress can be caused by situational factors, namely adverse childhood experience. This study aims to determine the relationship between Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE) and Psychological Distress in Padang State University Students. This study uses quantitative research methods with a correlational approach. Sampling using purposive sampling technique with a total of 100 respondents. Data analysis using product moment correlation. The results showed that ACE and psychological distress had a positive relationship with a p value of 0, 00> 0.05 with a pearson correlation value of 0.587.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the effect of loneliness on commitment in members of the West Sumatra Police Brimob Unit who undergo long-distance marriage. The research method used is quantitative with purposive sampling technique. The sample consisted of 60 Brimob members aged 18-25 years. Data collection used the UCLA Loneliness Scale and Commitment Measurement. Data analysis was performed with simple linear regression. The results showed a significant influence between loneliness and commitment of 26.7% (R=-0.517, R square=0.267, p<0.05). The subject's level of loneliness was tend to be very high category, while commitment was in the medium category tending to be low. Loneliness experienced includes social and emotional aspects. On the commitment scale, aspects of psychological attachment were in the very low category, while aspects of long-term orientation and desire to maintain the relationship were in the moderate category. It was concluded that the higher the level of loneliness, the lower the perceived commitment. This finding confirms the importance of addressing loneliness in the context of long-distance marriage to maintain marital commitment.

Abstract

This study addresses a critical gap in the scholarship on the mediatization of political parties at the local level in post-Suharto Indonesia, namely the limited attention to how party–media interactions unfold outside the national arena and beyond Java-centric analyses. By examining the case of the Golkar Party in West Sumatra, this article shows how local dynamics shape distinctive patterns of political communication and mediatization. Drawing on in-depth interviews, intensive observation, and documentary analysis, including local newspaper coverage from Singgalang, the study demonstrates that Golkar has strategically employed mediatization to reinforce organizational networks, disseminate political and social programs, and mobilize electoral support. At the same time, the case reveals persistent constraints such as polarization, money politics, and dynastic influence, which highlight the limits of mediatization in advancing democratic consolidation at the local level. By situating the West Sumatra case against broader Indonesian patterns, this article makes a novel theoretical contribution to political mediatization by illustrating how local socio-political contexts condition party–media relations in ways that complicate assumptions derived from national-level studies.

Abstract

In recent decades, marketing research has developed rapidly, yet studies specifically focusing on marketing for children remain limited. Based on the Scopus database, children-oriented marketing is often overlooked, despite its potential as a long-term strategy to build brand loyalty from an early age until adulthood. Many studies view marketing for children as a crucial approach to sustain lifelong customer relationships. This study aims to conduct a bibliometric analysis of marketing for children by reviewing empirical studies published in Scopus, offering a new perspective on this underexplored topic, particularly in Indonesia. A systematic literature review (SLR) was employed, using titles, abstracts, and keywords from Scopus within a defined timeframe. VOSviewer software was applied to map research trends, author collaborations, and frequently used keywords. Results indicate that research on children’s marketing continues to evolve, with key themes including its impact on children’s consumption behavior, the role of regulations, and technological influences in shaping strategies. Prior studies highlight children’s vulnerability to digital marketing, particularly their difficulty distinguishing between advertising and organic content. This suggests a need for further exploration of the long-term effects of marketing practices on children and the effectiveness of regulatory measures across countries. The findings provide practical insights for marketers, policymakers, and academics in creating more responsible and ethical marketing strategies in the digital age. Research on children’s marketing strategies remains scarce, especially in Indonesia. This study contributes a fresh perspective to bridge existing gaps and encourages more comprehensive exploration of the field.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of adding the mannol cetane plus additive on exhaust smoke opacity in a Mitsubishi L300 diesel vehicle. A smoke tester was used to measure the density of the exhaust emissions. The results of this test show the effect of reducing smoke density compared to pure B30 biodiesel fuel. With the 5 liter B30 biodiesel variant with 25 ml, the average results are 1000 rpm 0,36%, 1500 rpm 0,53%, 2000 rpm 0,76%, 2500 rpm 1,03%.
