Abstract

This research investigated temporal patterns of land subsidence in DKI Jakarta by applying a Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) model to deformation measurements derived from Persistent Scatterer Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (PS-InSAR) observations acquired between 2017 and 2021. Because the original PS-InSAR time series was characterized by uneven acquisition intervals, the deformation records were first resampled into a uniform 11-day sequence to obtain a consistent temporal structure for modeling. Preprocessing steps, comprising outlier handling, temporal resampling, and feature normalization, were performed to ensure that the model could capture deformation behavior reliably. The LSTM architecture employed three stacked recurrent layers and was trained using the Adam optimizer with Smooth L1 Loss and an early-stopping strategy. Model evaluation demonstrated excellent agreement between predicted and observed deformation, yielding R² = 1.000, MSE = 0.104, RMSE = 0.322 mm, and KGE = 0.998. Compared with a previously developed Random Forest model (R² = 0.9995, RMSE = 0.3314 mm), the LSTM approach exhibited more stable temporal learning and was better suited for long-horizon deformation forecasting. Spatial analysis revealed that northern Jakarta, particularly Cengkareng, Tanjung Priok, and Pantai Indah Kapuk, continued to experience the greatest cumulative subsidence (> −30 mm), whereas areas in the south, such as Jagakarsa and Kebayoran Baru, showed minimal deformation (< −5 mm), aligning with known geological and anthropogenic conditions. Overall, integrating PS-InSAR time series with an LSTM framework provided a more coherent and temporally consistent method for characterizing subsidence behavior in Jakarta. The outcomes of this study offered a scientific basis for developing intelligent monitoring tools to support mitigation efforts and sustainable urban planning in regions affected by land subsidence.

Abstract

Ground surface deformation is a crucial geological phenomenon requiring continuous monitoring, particularly in rapidly urbanizing regions with complex geology like Bogor, West Java. This study analyzed ground surface deformation patterns in the Bogor area using the Persistent Scatterer Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (PS-InSAR) method by processing 102 Sentinel-1A/B satellite images from February 2017 to April 2025. PS-InSAR processing successfully identified 6,687 PS points distributed across the study region. Spatial analysis reveals heterogeneous deformation patterns with maximum subsidence reaching -8.95 mm/year in the southern urban zone, while uplift up to +3.12 mm/year is detected in the northern area. Integration with geological and hydrogeological data indicates that surface deformation is controlled by consolidation mechanisms of incompletely compacted Quaternary volcanic deposits, combined with pore pressure reduction from intensive groundwater extraction and anthropogenic loading. Time-series curves reveal continuous linear subsidence trends with consistent seasonal modulation with hydrogeological cycles. This research demonstrates that PS-InSAR is highly effective for surface deformation monitoring in volcanic urban regions and provides critical baseline data for geological hazard mitigation.

Abstract

This study examines the structural relationships among Joyful Learning, Intrinsic Motivation, and Academic Achievement within the socio-religious educational environment of an Indonesian pesantren. Grounded in contemporary motivational theory, particularly Self-Determination Theory, the research addresses the limited empirical evidence on how emotionally engaging pedagogical climates interact with internal motivational processes in faith-based boarding schools. Employing an explanatory sequential mixed-methods design, quantitative data were collected from 60 junior secondary students using validated Likert-scale instruments, followed by qualitative interviews and classroom observations to contextualize statistical findings. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, reliability and validity testing, normality assessment, and Pearson correlation analysis. The results reveal strong and statistically significant positive correlations between Joyful Learning and Intrinsic Motivation (r = .921, p < .001), Joyful Learning and Academic Achievement (r = .875, p < .001), and Intrinsic Motivation and Academic Achievement (r = .895, p < .001), indicating a mutually reinforcing relationship among the three constructs. Qualitative findings further demonstrate that relational mentorship, communal discipline, and value-integrated instruction within the pesantren environment strengthen students’ intrinsic engagement and meaning-making processes. The study concludes that joyful pedagogical practices can be effectively integrated within structured religious educational systems and function as catalysts for enhancing intrinsic motivation and multidimensional academic achievement. The implications of this research highlight the importance of relational pedagogy, teacher professional development, and the integration of affective-motivational indicators into assessment systems, thereby advancing culturally grounded motivational theory and educational innovation in faith-based institutions.

Abstract

The gap between abstract mathematical concepts and local cultural realities often hinders the effectiveness of students' geometric comprehension. This study aims to integrate the architectural wisdom of the traditional Baeleo Hena Puan house as a contextual pedagogical framework to strengthen geometric literacy. Through a qualitative exploratory descriptive approach, an in-depth visual analysis of the architectural structure was conducted to identify geometric concepts such as two-dimensional shapes (rectangles, triangles, trapezoids) and three-dimensional solids (rectangular and triangular prisms). The findings demonstrate that these architectural elements not only represent physical forms but also embody patterns of repetition and reflectional symmetry, reflecting complex mathematical activities in accordance with D’Ambrosio’s ethnomathematics theory. This research concludes that transforming architectural values into instructional materials serves as a strategic bridge to enhance students' cognitive engagement in meaningful mathematics learning. The proposed pedagogical framework provides an integrated learning model that enables educators to transform ethnomathematical data into instructional media relevant to 21st-century competency requirements. By incorporating traditional building designs into the formal curriculum, geometry instruction becomes more applicable while simultaneously functioning as a tool for preserving cultural identity within a modern educational setting. Implementing this framework is expected to facilitate a paradigm shift from formula-based learning to context-based and experiential-based learning.

Abstract

Well-being pedagogy has attracted the attention of researchers in various disciplines. Although well-being pedagogy has been widely discussed in education, a clearer understanding of how it is integrated into English language teaching (ELT) is still needed. This systematic literature review seeks to explore current trends, key thematic areas, and notable gaps in the literature, intending to offer insights into strategies for effectively incorporating well-being into ELT. This research uses Scopus as the main data source for the initial data search through the database to the selection of studies for synthesis according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. The findings reveal several important trends. First, research on well-being in ELT has gradually increased over time, with a noticeable rise after 2020. Second, most studies are located within the social sciences, indicating that well-being is mainly examined from educational and social perspectives. Third, a large proportion of publications originates from developed countries. The research indicates that existing studies mainly focus on supportive learning environments, teacher support, and the integration of innovative pedagogical approaches to enhance learning experiences. The study implies that it should provide practical approaches for integrating well-being pedagogy into ELT classrooms.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of integrating SASAMBO local cultural values on character education strengthening and the management of Civic Education learning among students at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Muhammadiyah Mataram. The study used a quantitative survey approach with a sample of 153 students selected through snowball sampling. Data were collected using a 25-item Likert scale questionnaire and analysed using descriptive statistics and multiple regression using SPSS. The results showed that local culture had a significant influence on character building with a contribution of 41.4%, while the influence on PPKn learning management was 9.2%. These findings confirm that the internalisation of the values of mutual cooperation, tolerance, religiosity, and social responsibility effectively strengthens students' attitudes and morals, but improving learning management also requires the support of pedagogical and institutional factors. The implication is that the integration of local wisdom needs to be optimised as the basis for character education and combined with managerial strategies and learning innovations so that the effectiveness of Civic Education in higher education is more comprehensive and sustainable.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategy of community economic empowerment through the management of a Healthy Canteen at the Darul Ihsan Muhammadiyah Islamic Boarding School (Pondok Pesantren) in Sragen. The study uses a qualitative approach with the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method, involving the community as active subjects in the entire research cycle. The mentoring shows that the community has economic potential in the form of local raw materials and cooking skills that have not been optimally utilized. The Collaborative Trilogy Model of Boarding School-Community-Students was developed by integrating the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach with the principles of a circular economy. This model successfully created a local value chain: farmers as suppliers, housewives as processors, and students as the main consumers. The management of the Healthy Canteen is an effective and sustainable empowerment strategy. This model can be applied to other Islamic boarding schools with contextual adjustments, serving as a blueprint for economic empowerment based on religious institutions that integrates Islamic values, local wisdom, and social business principles.
