Abstract

This study is in the discourse of Islamic education and religious psychology, focusing on factors that influence the internalization of religious values in the madrasah environment. The main objective of this article is to analyze and test the partial and simultaneous effects of Teacher Role Models (X1), Student Religious Motivation (X2), and Islamic Spiritual Activities (X3) on Student Religiousness Levels (Y) at MAN 1 Bandung Regency. The research method used was a quantitative approach with multiple regression analysis techniques. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to a sample of 207 eleventh-grade students. Based on the testing, the three independent variables were partially proven to have a positive and significant influence on the Level of Religiosity (Teacher Role Models Sig.=0.002; Religious Motivation Sig.=0.000; Islamic Spiritual Activities Sig.=0.000). Simultaneously, Teacher Exemplarity, Religious Motivation, and Islamic Spiritual Activities contributed 63.8% to the dependent variable (Sig. = 0.000). The most prominent research finding is that Student Religious Motivation is the most dominant predictor with the highest standardized Beta value (beta = 0.525), indicating that the students' internal spiritual motivation is stronger than the influence of teachers or school programs. This paper contributes to confirming theories of religiosity while also contributing a perspective of influence hierarchy, emphasizing that madrasah strategies must focus on strengthening students' spiritual motivation. The results of this study are important as a basis for formulating madrasah policies that shift the focus from merely delivering material to building intrinsic religious awareness.

Abstract

This article examines various forms of religious education programs for Junior High School (SMP) students and analyzes their alignment with psychological and spiritual developmental stages in early adolescence. Employing a literature review approach, this study explores theories of faith development (James W. Fowler), cognitive development (Jean Piaget), and moral development (Lawrence Kohlberg), alongside key concepts in Islamic education such as fitrah, taklīf, and ta’dīb. The findings indicate that religious programs in SMP generally encompass daily worship habituation, spiritual mentoring, collective religious activities, the integration of spiritual values across subjects, and project-based reflective activities. The effectiveness of these programs heavily relies on the alignment between program design and students' developmental characteristics. Ritualistic and collective approaches assist in building routines and social identity, whereas reflective and dialogical approaches foster deeper spiritual awareness. Challenges encountered include limited time, teacher preparedness, student interest, and the consistency of school culture.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between the implementation of religious programs and the religious and nationalistic character of students. The implementation of religious programs has the potential to produce a double impact, namely strengthening the moral integrity of individuals while fostering a nationalistic character in students. However, there has been no research that explicitly discusses how nationalistic character values such as loyalty, appreciation of national culture, or willingness to sacrifice are measured or evaluated as a direct impact of these religious programs. This study aims to fill the gap in the existing literature, which is mostly descriptive, qualitative, or observational, by analyzing the relationship between the implementation of religious programs in schools and the formation of students’ religious and nationalistic character. This study is important to empirically prove that strengthening spiritual values can be in line with the spirit of nationalism in the educational environment. The research method used is a quantitative correlation approach. Data collection was conducted through questionnaires to measure the intensity of student participation in religious programs and their level of religious character and nationalism, which were then analyzed using statistical tests in the form of correlation and simple linear regression tests. The results show a positive and significant relationship between the implementation of religious programs and the formation of students’ religious character and nationalism. These findings indicate that the more intensive the implementation of religious programs, the stronger the students’ religious commitment and love for their country, thus refuting the assumption of dualism between the two. Therefore, educational institutions are advised to optimize these programs as a key strategy in producing a generation of students with comprehensive and balanced character.
