Abstract

Teachers at MTs Miftahul Ulum Kemlagi experienced limitations in utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based learning media and had varying levels of digital competence, creating challenges in implementing innovative learning practices. This Community Service Program (PKM) aims to enhance the digital competence of teachers at MTs Miftahul Ulum Kemlagi through training in the development of AI-based learning media using the Gemini AI platform. The program employed a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach consisting of material delivery, hands-on practice, continued mentoring, and evaluation. A total of 25 teachers participated in the training and demonstrated improved ability in designing AI-assisted learning media relevant to their instructional needs. The evaluation results indicated positive participant responses, with an average score of 3.02 categorized as good, reflecting the practicality, clarity, and applicability of the training program. Beyond improving technical skills, the program encouraged teacher engagement and strengthened readiness to adopt digital innovation in the madrasah environment. Thus, the integration of AI, particularly through Gemini AI, demonstrates significant potential in supporting creative, contextual, and future-oriented Islamic education practices in the madrasah setting.

Abstract

This study examines the digitalization of academic and student services in higher education to improve service efficiency, accessibility, and governance. Previous studies have mainly focused on technology adoption, system evaluation, or service quality separately, while limited research has explored digitalization as an integrated managerial process at the faculty level. This study aims to analyze the implementation of service digitalization at the Faculty of Education, Universitas Negeri Surabaya, identify supporting and inhibiting factors, and formulate an integrated implementation model. This study employed a qualitative case study approach. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving faculty leaders, administrative staff, and system developers, and analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings show that service digitalization is influenced by needs-based planning, policy support, human resource readiness, infrastructure, and adaptive system development. Digitalization improved service efficiency, accessibility, and administrative organization, although challenges remain in digital competencies, coordination, system integration, and technical maintenance. The study proposes a cyclical implementation model consisting of planning, organizing, implementation, and continuous evaluation. The study contributes theoretically to implementation management and e-service studies in higher education digital transformation and provides practical guidance for managing digital services in a systematic and sustainable manner.

Abstract

Despite the growing adoption of branding practices in educational institutions, limited research has examined how public schools in non-metropolitan areas develop institutional image within socio-communal environments characterized by limited digital access. This study investigates branding management practices in SDN Pandan and SDN Warugunung Pacet, two public elementary schools located in Mojokerto Regency, Indonesia. Employing an interpretive multiple-case study with a qualitative descriptive design, the research draws on in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis involving school principals, teachers, school committee members, and parents. Guided by the Vision–Culture–Image Alignment framework of Corporate Branding Theory, the study explores how organizational vision, culture, and stakeholder perceptions interact in shaping institutional image. The findings reveal two distinct branding pathways. SDN Pandan applies a vision-driven strategic branding model characterized by structured programs and digital communication, while SDN Warugunung Pacet adopts a community-based branding model emphasizing relational trust, cultural internalization, and word-of-mouth communication. Based on these findings, the study proposes a Dual-Pathway Branding Framework that conceptualizes strategic alignment and community authenticity as complementary mechanisms for strengthening institutional legitimacy and visibility. The study contributes to corporate branding literature by highlighting the importance of socio-communal context in non-metropolitan educational settings.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of creative libraries as catalysts for students' reading interest by highlighting innovations in space design, literacy activities, and appreciation systems in two public schools in Kuningan, West Java. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with a multi-site case study design, involving key informants, namely librarians, teachers, and students. This study was conducted over six months of field data collection through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Different from previous school literacy studies that focused solely on reading activities, this study introduces the "Creative Library as an Interactive Ecosystem" model, which positions the reading space as a dynamic system that drives intrinsic motivation. The findings indicate four main innovations: (1) spatial arrangement based on comfort and visual aesthetics, (2) routine and collaborative literacy activities, (3) creative literacy communities such as book clubs and theater, and (4) an inclusive appreciation system that fosters a sense of achievement. Theoretically, this research updates the understanding of reading behavior by referring to the Integrative Framework of Motivation in Education (Urhahne & Wijnia, 2023) and the Holistic Design of Learning Environments (Barrett et al., 2019), which emphasize the importance of autonomy, competence, and social connectedness in learning ecosystems. Practically, the resulting catalyst model provides a new direction for school literacy policy in Indonesia, developing libraries as participatory, aesthetic, and socially meaningful spaces.

Abstract

Organizational culture is one of the key factors determining the success of educational institutions, as it influences the behavior, values, and commitment of all school members. This study aims to describe the implementation of organizational culture in fostering students' character development in religion-based junior high schools. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with principals and teachers from two junior high schools. Data analysis was conducted using the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that organizational culture is built upon religious values, character development, discipline, social responsibility, and achievement, which are internalized through leadership role modeling, habitual practices, school programs, and teachers' professional development. Principals play a pivotal role as change agents by conducting supervision, monitoring, evaluation, and providing continuous motivation to all school members. The implementation of organizational culture is supported by effective communication, teachers' commitment, and parental involvement, while challenges arise from differences in family backgrounds, inconsistent implementation of cultural values, and limited resources. The study concludes that a strong organizational culture significantly strengthens character education and contributes to improving overall school quality.

Abstract

Purpose – This study examines the direct and indirect relationships among perceived Human Capital Strategy, Digital Readiness, and Employability Skills among vocational high school students. It also investigates whether Digital Readiness explains part of the relationship between students’ perceived educational development opportunities and employability-related competencies. Methods – A cross-sectional quantitative survey was conducted with 357 Grade XII students from six vocational high schools in Ponorogo Regency, Indonesia. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire. The proposed model was analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling in SmartPLS 4. The analysis included measurement-model assessment, structural-path estimation, explanatory power, predictive relevance, model fit, and mediation testing. Findings – Human Capital Strategy was positively associated with Employability Skills (β = 0.680, p < 0.001) and Digital Readiness (β = 0.841, p < 0.001). Digital Readiness was also positively related to Employability Skills (β = 0.208, p < 0.001). The indirect relationship through Digital Readiness was statistically significant (β = 0.175, p < 0.001). Because the direct path remained significant after the mediator was included, Digital Readiness was identified as a partial mediator. Research implications – Vocational schools should integrate digital capability development with occupational learning, workplace exposure, career preparation, and transferable-skill development. Digital readiness should therefore be strengthened as part of a broader human capital strategy rather than treated as a separate technology program. Originality – This study provides empirical evidence from Indonesian vocational education that Digital Readiness acts as a complementary pathway linking perceived human-capital-oriented educational experiences with Employability Skills.

Abstract

Abstract

This community service activity aims to boost teachers' confidence and help discover students' talents and interests through the use of podcast media in speech and poetry practices at SDN Tebon. The low confidence of teachers in delivering oral-based material and the limited outlets for student expression are the background reasons for this activity. The activity was attended by 20 participants, consisting of 10 teachers from SDN Tebon and 10 teachers from PAUD Kelurahan Tebon. The methods used included situation and condition analysis, microlearning, modeling & demonstration teaching, instructional practice, and reflection. Evaluation results showed a significant increase in post-test scores compared to pre-test, with an average gain of 20.98%. The most important improvement was observed in indicators directly related to the use of podcasts, including recording skills, understanding the benefits of the medium in learning, and teaching students to speak clearly. This training successfully equipped teachers with innovative skills to integrate digital technology, boost their confidence in teaching, and effectively develop students' talents and interests in speech and poetry reading.
