Abstract

The aim of this research is to elaborate Rumi's metaphorical disclosure in one of his works, entitled Fihi Ma Fihi. The complexity of diction in his literary work can characterize as imagery, specifically as metaphor. Jalal Al-Din Rumi was distinguished by his works containing exquisite language, the unlikeness of his figurative language and imagery, placing him as Persian Poet Top Seller in America in 1997. Therefore, this research utilize the theoretical criticism method in elaborating language and disclosure of Rumi's dialectics in Fihi Ma Fihi. As supporting to approach the analysis, this research also requires library technical and comparative literature methods. The results of this research managed to describe several metaphors that Rumi used as a religious disclosure based on his lectures. Hence, the advantage of this research will be useful for literary devotee in understanding and studying Rumi's writing tactics in influencing the world society for over centuries. This research is also expected to be a basis for further analysis of electing language in literary works production.

Abstract

Perempuan dipandang sebagai makhluk yang inferior dibandingkan laki-laki. Posisinya sering terpinggirkan dalam segala aspek kehidupan manusia. Bahkan agama menjadi salah satu dasar untuk menempatkan perempuan di bawah laki-laki. Hal ini terlihat dalam beberapa tafsir klasik yang pengarangnya adalah laki-laki. Amina Wadud dan Zaitunah Subhan adalah dua tokoh perempuan yang merasa ketidakadilan terhadap perempuan di sekitarnya harus dihilangkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji perbandingan metodologi tafsir Zaitunah Subhan dan Tafsir Amina Wadud dalam mengkaji masalah “Perempuan”. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif-analisis. Hasil penelitian ini adalah sebagai berikut: Secara umum metodologi Tafsir Zaitunah Subhan dan Tafsir Amina Wadud menggunakan metode maudhu'i, karena sama-sama fokus membahas tema-tema tertentu. Namun dalam proses analisisnya, Tafsir Zaitunah Subhan menggunakan metode tafsir maudhu'i dengan mengacu pada tiga kitab utama dari tiga generasi, yaitu Tafsir Al-Qur'an karya Ibnu Katsir, Tafsir Al-Azhar karya Hamka dan Al-Qur'an dan terjemahannya. Sedangkan Tafsir Amina Wadud menggunakan model interpretasi hermeneutik.

Abstract

The low competence of educators due to mismatched educational backgrounds and lack of adaptation to technological developments poses a serious challenge in the education sector. This phenomenon is exacerbated by the difficulty of finding employment, leading many individuals with certain connections to become educators without adequate mastery of teaching methods. In fact, technology plays a crucial role in supporting students' understanding. Therefore, educators are required to adapt and innovate in developing effective learning methods. This study aims to raise awareness among incompetent and non-adaptive educators about the fatal consequences for future generations, given that students' knowledge, ethics, and social skills are derived from educators. The research method employs a literature study approach, drawing from journals, online media, book reports, and related articles. The results indicate that risk management is necessary to improve educator quality, minimize deficiencies in teaching, knowledge transfer, and learning innovation. In conclusion, risk management plays a vital role in creating a stable and conducive educational environment for the sustainable development of educator quality.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze evaluations in Islamic education in order to find out the extent to which students have mastered their competencies. Evaluation in the view of Islamic education focuses on forming students' self-awareness after knowing what needs to be improved in their life journey. In preparing this article, researchers used qualitative methods with the type of library research. This type of qualitative research is research that produces information in the form of notes and descriptive data contained in the text being studied. The data used is by collecting books, journals and others related to evaluation in Islamic education. The collected data was analyzed using descriptive methods. The research results show that the way students learn is determined by the evaluation method, and vice versa, the evaluation method used by teachers is determined by the evaluation objectives. Evaluation must be carried out continuously (continuity). This last principle must carry out continuous evaluation but must not ignore the other evaluation principles. It is generally understood that students who can evaluate themselves are able to understand the extent of their religious abilities, their faith and their religious experience.

Abstract

This study examines noun phrases (NPs) in selected lyrics by Billie Eilish, namely Lovely, Ilomilo, and What Was I Made For? Previous studies have mainly focused on discourse analysis, thematic interpretation, and sentence-level syntax, while limited attention has been given to noun phrases, particularly their internal structure and role in meaning construction. This gap indicates the need for a focused syntactic analysis of noun phrases in lyrical discourse. The study aims to identify types of noun phrases, analyze their internal structures, and explain their contribution to emotional meaning. A descriptive qualitative method was applied, with data collected through documentation of song lyrics. The analysis covers 23 noun phrases, consisting of 8 from Lovely, 4 from What Was I Made For? and 11 from Ilomilo. The data were analyzed using identification, classification of structural patterns, and phrase structure rules based on generative grammar. Findings show that noun phrases appear in various forms such as determiner + noun (e.g., a way), possessive constructions (e.g., my fear), and complex structures with post-modifiers (e.g., a place to hide, the friends I’ve had to bury). These noun phrases function not only as grammatical units but also as carriers of emotional meaning, expressing uncertainty, loss, identity, and longing. The study concludes that noun phrases bridge syntactic structure and emotional expression in song lyrics.

Abstract

Puisi ‘Bitaqat Hawiyya’ karya Mahmoud Darwish mencerminkan semangat perlawanan Palestina melalui kekayaan gaya bahasa dan simbolisme mendalam. Penelitian ini mengkaji secara teliti stilistika dan semiotika dalam puisi tersebut, untuk menelusuri bagaimana Darwish membangun identitas nasional lewat karya sastra. Melalui pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif-analitis, teks puisi sebagai data primer dianalisis dengan teori stilistika Leech & Short (2007) dan semiotika Barthes (1977). Hasil penelitian menyoroti dominasi metafora, repetisi, serta kalimat deklaratif yang secara efektif menegaskan identitas. Kebaruan terletak pada integrasi hibrida stilistika-semiotika: pemetaan deviasi bahasa (metafora, repetisi) melalui stilistika, dilanjutkan interpretasi denotasi-konotasi Barthes, dan sintesis triangulasi yang menguak mitos resistensi Palestina sebagai bentuk perlawanan non-fisik. Implikasi penelitian ini memperkuat pemahaman sastra Arab kontemporer serta dinamika perjuangan identitas, sambil menyumbang pada pengembangan kajian stilistika dan analisis sastra Arab.

Abstract

Film merupakan salah satu jenis karya sastra yang menyajikan bentuk cerita fiksi dalam dimensi yang berbeda melalui media visual dan audio. Semua gambar, suara, gerak tubuh, dan semua hal yang ditampilkan dalam film berfungsi sebagai media pembuat makna dan pengiriman pesan di antaranya dapat berupa tanda-tanda. Penelitian ini menganalisis salah satu genre sastra, yaitu film Five Feet Apart (2019). Tema percintaan digambarkan serta direpresentasikan cukup kuat di film ini dan hal tersebut dapat diketahui melalui tanda yang ada di setiap scenenya. Penelitian dan kajian ini memiliki tujuan untuk dapat mendeskripsikan tanda-tanda yang merepresentasikan konsep cinta Robert Sternberg pada tokoh utama dalam film Five Feet Apart dan makna berdasarkan triangle meanings theory Pierce dalam merepresentasikan konsep cinta pada tokoh utama dalam film Five Feet Apart.. Peneliti menggunakan metode kualitatif yang sifatnya deskriptif dengan pendekatan analisis semiotika Pierce untuk menganalisis tanda yang digunakan dalam penggambaran intimacy, passion dan commitment berdasarkan teori Robert Sternberg yang diungkapkan dan digambarkan dalam film. Hasil yang didapatkan berupa  tanda-tanda dan objek yang berkaitan dengan konsep cinta Sternberg seperti kedekatan, komunikasi, ekspresi bahagia, gairah dan sebagainya. Selain itu, melalui analisis interpretant terdapat 10 scenes merepresentasikan makna intimacy, 7 scenes makna passion, serta 1 scenes makna commitment.

Abstract

Suluk Wujil is a well-known early Javanese Islamic literary work that focuses on spiritual pursuits and teachings. Wujil, a convert seeking the ultimate truth, is a symbolic person who carries crucial Sufistic teachings as well as the revelation of socio-religious discourse at the dawn of Islam in Java. This article uses three steps of semiotic reading to disclose the content of Suluk Wujil: narrative framework, primary sign discovery, and syntagmatic and paradigmatic analysis. First, the Suluk Wujils narrative plan arose from Wujil's complaint that after ten years of spiritual study in Bonang, he had failed to enter The Ultimate Truth. The statement "Arriving in Mecca" at the end of the book is the second key sign of Suluk Wujil. This term emphasizes Suluk Wujil's spiritual qualities in relation to the spiritual path toward the reality of Islamic mysticism. Third, the paradigmatic analysis reveals that multiple parallel and contrary signs exist at the same moment. The combination of various signs forms a synthesis that leads to a deeper comprehension of the meaning of these indicators. Syntagmatic analysis leads to a better comprehension of indications that are diametrically opposed but complementary.
