Abstract

This article explores the urgency of reforming the approach to Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in the face of contemporary moral complexities among youth, including pornography, bullying, relational violence, and identity crises. The normative approach in the PAI curriculum and textbooks is found to be increasingly irrelevant to students' psychosocial needs. Using a qualitative case study at SMPN 9 Banda Aceh, the study reveals that most students desire a more realistic and contextual religious education. The article proposes integrating Maqasid Syariah particularly hifz al-aql, hifz al-nafs, and hifz al-din with developmental psychology theories (Kohlberg and Erikson), while emphasizing project-based pedagogy, moral reflection, and collaborative engagement between schools, families, and communities. The study recommends developing PAI modules that are practical, adaptive, and responsive to the moral dynamics of modern adolescents.

Abstract

The impact of the PJBL approach on critical thinking abilities is investigated in this study. This study employs an experimental research design, which is a sort of quantitative research. The study's findings demonstrate that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. Because SMPIT Khairunnas Bengkulu City students are accustomed to traditional learning, they may find it difficult or even impossible to comprehend the PJBL method's learning system. This could lead to the emergence of laziness in learning activities, which could ultimately lower the students' critical thinking abilities at SMPIT Khairunnas Bengkulu City.

Abstract

This research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Islamic group guidance programs in developing positive mindsets and self-resilience in students through a literature review. The study was conducted by analyzing journals, scientific books, research reports, and theses and dissertations published in the past ten years. The findings indicate that Islamic-based group guidance has a significant impact on improving self-regulation, spiritual awareness, emotional control, positive cognition, and an optimistic orientation toward the future. Spiritual values such as monotheism, trust (Tawakal), patience, and gratitude serve as psychological capital that strengthens students' resilience in facing academic pressure, social conflict, and personal problems. The integration of modern counseling techniques with Islamic principles places students in a supportive, open, and reflective group environment, accelerating the internalization of a growth mindset and adaptive skills. Overall, Islamic group guidance has proven relevant, effective, and has great potential for systematic implementation in both Islamic and general educational institutions.

Abstract

Population growth has led to increasing cultural and ethnic diversity. However, these differences often cause conflict. Therefore, it is essential for individuals to learn to accept diversity as a source of richness and strength in maintaining harmony and cooperation among nations. Misunderstandings may lead to conflict, disharmony, and further miscommunication. One way to address these challenges is through the implementation of Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) in education. CRT is an approach that empowers students intellectually, emotionally, and socially through cultural references to convey knowledge, develop skills, and shape behavior. The purpose of this study was to analyze global research trends on CRT during the 2014–2024 period to identify patterns, publication dynamics, and future directions in this field. The results showed a growing trend in the number of publications related to CRT. Most studies involved undergraduate students as participants, with interview sheets being the most commonly used instruments, supported by data analysis based on triangulation. This study provides a theoretical contribution by mapping the direction and development of CRT research globally over the past decade, as well as a practical contribution through policy recommendations aimed at strengthening the implementation of culturally responsive teaching from primary to higher education levels. The findings also offer valuable insights for future CRT implementation and educational policy development.

Abstract

This article critically examines the relationship between efficiency and justice in the Islamic financial system and how both values are implemented within modern financial institutions. From an Islamic perspective, efficiency is not merely measured by profitability and productivity but by the extent to which economic activities promote social welfare and balance. The principle of justice (al-‘adl) serves as the moral foundation that distinguishes Islamic finance from the conventional system, which often prioritizes profit over ethics. This study employs a qualitative library research approach, analyzing scholarly literature and Islamic financial regulations. The findings reveal that Islamic finance still faces significant challenges in balancing efficiency and justice, primarily due to the dominance of trade-based products (murabahah) and the limited application of profit-sharing systems (mudharabah and musyarakah). Structural reform through product innovation, governance enhancement, and digitalization guided by the maqasid al-shari‘ah framework is essential to make Islamic finance genuinely just, inclusive, and sustainable. Thus, efficiency and justice should not remain normative ideals but become concrete pillars in realizing equitable economic prosperity.

Abstract

Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) serves as a legal instrument to evaluate the major effects of proposed businesses or activities and implement preventive measures to mitigate potential environmental impacts. Beyond being a prerequisite for environmental permits, EIA provides decision-makers with a basis for approval while incorporating the precautionary principle. Following the enactment of Law No. 6 of 2023, which formalizes Government Regulation in Lieu of Law No. 2 of 2022 on Job Creation, the precautionary principle is applied only to high-risk activities, limiting its broader role in environmental protection. This study employs a normative juridical approach to assess whether current Indonesian legislation aligns with environmental law principles. Findings indicate that post-Job Creation Law, the precautionary principle is restricted to activities with significant risks and uncertain scientific outcomes, highlighting the need for its wider application across all business activities to support sustainable development that balances economic, ecological, and socio-cultural interests.

Abstract

Mathematics learning not only serves as a means of mastering concepts and procedures, but also as a space for shaping scientific attitudes that are reflected in scientific ethics. This study aims to systematically examine the integration of scientific ethics in mathematics learning and its contribution to the development of students' reflective thinking skills. The study uses the PRISMA-based Systematic Literature Review (SLR) based on PRISMA by examining Scopus-indexed articles published between 2020 and 2025. Inclusion criteria included empirical and conceptual articles discussing mathematics learning, scientific ethics, and students' reflective thinking, while exclusion criteria included irrelevant articles, duplicates, and non-Scopus publications. From the selection process, 11 final articles were obtained and analyzed using descriptive-qualitative techniques based on indicators of scientific ethics, mathematics learning strategies for reflective thinking, and trends in the development of students' reflective thinking. The results of the study show that the integration of scientific ethical values such as academic honesty, careful reasoning, the ability to justify, and openness to various problem-solving strategies contributes significantly to improving the quality of students' cognitive reflection. Learning that emphasizes discussion, critical dialogue, and analysis of the thinking process has proven effective in internalizing scientific values. Theoretically, this study enriches the conceptual framework of mathematics learning by placing scientific ethics as the foundation for the development of reflective thinking, while also providing direction for the development of learning designs that are oriented towards process and academic values.

Abstract

This study aims to describe humanistic learning theory and examine its relevance within the context of Islamic education. Humanistic theory emphasizes holistic human development through meaningful learning experiences, freedom, self-actualization, and respect for learners’ dignity. This study employs a literature review method by analyzing the theories of Abraham Maslow and Carl Rogers, as well as scholarly works on Islamic education. The findings indicate that humanistic theory is aligned with the concept of Islamic education, which views human beings as endowed with fitrah (innate potential) and responsible for the development of their personal capacities. Humanistic learning is also found to be relevant in addressing contemporary educational issues, such as discrimination against students with special needs and excessive academic pressure that hinders learners’ psychological development. The integration of humanistic theory with Islamic values provides a conceptual foundation for fostering inclusive, empathetic, and humanizing educational practices.

Abstract

This paper examines the transformation of Islamic politics and civilization from the classical period to the modern era, as well as the contributions of Islam to the development of global knowledge. In the classical period, Islamic civilization was characterized by strong political institutions, intellectual openness, and the integration of religious and rational sciences, which enabled significant advancements in science, medicine, philosophy, and social thought. However, internal political fragmentation, external pressures, and colonial domination led to the decline of Islamic political power and intellectual influence. The modern period marks a phase of transformation in which Muslim societies faced the challenges of modernization, Western influence, and the reconfiguration of political and intellectual frameworks. Despite these challenges, Islam continued to contribute to global knowledge through its rich scientific heritage, methodological approaches, and ethical perspectives. The transmission of Islamic knowledge to Europe played a crucial role in shaping modern science and the Renaissance. This study highlights that the transformation from classical to modern Islamic civilization reflects both continuity and change, demonstrating the enduring relevance of Islamic intellectual traditions in the contemporary world.
