Abstract

The overarching goal of education extends beyond the mere attainment of competencies and academic standards; it encompasses a broader responsibility to cultivate students' awareness of their societal roles, obligations, and rights. This research, undertaken with the specific focus on the drama script "Subversive!" by Faiza Mardzoeki, aims to elucidate the manifestations of social criticism and morality within this literary work. Employing a qualitative research approach, this study hinges on document analysis as its primary methodological framework. Qualitative research, distinguished by its departure from statistical procedures and quantitative calculations, relies on the exploration of assumptions, broad perspectives, theoretical lenses, and a thorough examination of research problems. The research findings primarily unveil instances of social criticism embedded in political contexts and discernible moral dynamics between individuals. Notably, these insights derived from the drama script "Subversive!" serve as valuable material for the pedagogical realm, contributing to the understanding of literary texts in educational settings. This research contends that the implications of its findings extend to the realm of high school literature education, providing a foundation for educators to consider various aspects, types, and impacts of literary works. By delving into the social and moral criticisms encapsulated within these texts, educators can enhance the learning experience, prompting thoughtful reflection on societal constructs and the multifaceted roles literature plays. Additionally, the research underscores the pivotal role of teachers in facilitating this process, thereby emphasizing the broader educational significance of integrating critical perspectives into the study of literature.

Abstract

This research aimed to comprehensively examine the implementation of differentiated learning strategies for underachiever students—those with untapped potential not commensurate with their academic performance. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, the study focused on fourth-grade students chosen for their underachieving characteristics. Data collection involved in-depth interviews with the underachieving students, exploring their perspectives on differentiated learning, experiences during the learning process, and the impact on their comprehension of study materials. The analysis revealed valuable insights into the students' opinions regarding the benefits and challenges associated with differentiated learning. It delved into how this approach influenced their understanding of the subject matter, shedding light on the nuanced responses of underachiever students to the application of differentiated learning. The findings from this study offer a profound understanding of how underachiever students perceive and engage with differentiated learning methods. The implications extend to providing educators with crucial insights for designing effective learning strategies tailored to meet the unique needs of underachiever students. By incorporating these insights, educators can enhance academic performance, support the unfolding potential of underachieving students, and contribute to their overall development. This research contributes to the ongoing discourse on improving educational practices for diverse learning needs.

Abstract

The Teacher Professional Development (TPD) program is a crucial strategy for enhancing teachers' knowledge and skills. The program includes activities that go beyond introducing instructional methods in the classroom and focus on improving teachers' abilities to communicate and collaborate with their peers, community of teachers, leaders, and school partners. There is a scarcity of research presenting TPD data from teacher representatives throughout Indonesia, particularly those using the 2018 TALIS questionnaire developed by the OECD. This mixed-method study collected TPD data from a survey of 410 elementary school teachers in Indonesia and interview data through the FGD method from 53 respondents, including teachers, principals, parent committees, and education offices from several cities in Indonesia. The study's results indicate that TPD programs in Indonesia require improvement and equal implementation both teachers in urban and suburban/rural area. The programs primarily focus on enhancing knowledge, instructional and institutional skills, including organic relationships with peers and school partners. Descriptive data analysis reveals that TPD programs should encourage cooperation and collaboration among teachers at local, national, and international levels. Recommendations for future research should analyze the effect of the TPD program integrated with the Merdeka Curriculum on teachers' committees. This will provide valuable insights into the effectiveness of the program.
