Abstract

The low mathematical literacy of Indonesian students in global assessments (PISA/TIMSS) drives the search for pedagogical innovation. This systematic literature review analyzes the impact of HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skills)-based interactive e-books on learning outcomes. A search of the Google Scholar and Scopus databases for the 2017–2025 period, using empirical study inclusion criteria, yielded 31 selected articles. The synthesis results show a consistent positive trend: the implementation of HOTS-based interactive e-books contributes to improved learning outcomes, particularly in mathematics and science, while also developing problem-solving abilities, critical thinking, and student engagement. The findings also identify key supporting factors, such as teacher training, technological readiness, and curriculum relevance. The study concludes that HOTS-based interactive e-books have the potential to be effective learning tools, but their success depends on context and systemic support. The implication is that the integration of technology in education must be supported by teacher capacity building and supportive policies.

Abstract

The descriptive text is one of the important learning materials in Indonesian language lessons for seventh-grade junior high school students. However, there are still several problems that occur in the learning process of descriptive texts. Based on the analysis of these learning problems, it was found that no innovative learning media have been optimally utilized. In addition, the learning of descriptive texts still relies heavily on textbooks, making it less contextual. Therefore, developing a board game as a learning medium for descriptive texts that integrates local wisdom is important. The method used is research and development (RD) with the ADDIE model. The product was validated by experts, including material experts, learning media experts, and practitioners. Furthermore, at the evaluation stage, user response tests involving teachers and students were conducted to assess the board game medium. Based on the product validation and response tests, the board game learning medium was declared feasible for use. AbstrakThe descriptive text is one of the important learning materials in Indonesian language lessons for seventh-grade junior high school students. Abstract

This study addresses four significant research gaps in the literature on multigrade teaching in Indonesia: (1) the absence of studies specifically examining mathematics teaching strategies in multigrade classrooms; (2) the methodological gap due to the dominance of quantitative descriptive approaches that cannot capture teachers' practical wisdom; (3) the contextual gap as international findings are not directly transferable to Indonesian remote school settings; and (4) the empirical gap in linking quantitative teacher shortage data with adaptive strategies developed by teachers in the field. Based on BPS Cianjur 2025/2026 data, the three research locations (Campakamulya, Pagelaran, and Leles sub-districts) have an average of only 7.9 teachers per school well below the Cianjur average of 10.2—confirming that multigrade teaching is a structural necessity, not a pedagogical choice. This study employs a qualitative approach with an instrumental case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis involving three experienced teachers in remote schools. Data analysis followed the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña interactive model. The findings reveal five adaptive strategies developed independently by teachers without formal training: (1) adaptive classroom management with a tiered time-rotation system; (2) cross-grade cooperative learning and peer tutoring; (3) contextual differentiated instruction using local life contexts; (4) structured independent learning routines; and (5) local wisdom-based contextual adaptation integrating agricultural, economic, and cultural elements into mathematics. The novelty of this study lies in introducing the concept of 'multigrade teacher practical wisdom' as a category of professional knowledge constructed independently by teachers in the field, which has not previously been documented in Indonesian mathematics education literature.

Abstract

Sekumur Village, Sekerak District, Aceh Tamiang Regency is a highly vulnerable area to flash floods and acute environmental sanitation problems. The hydrometeorological disaster at the end of 2025 destroyed almost all residential infrastructure, leaving approximately 300 households in extreme emergency conditions with minimal access to clean water and basic sanitation facilities. This Community Service Program (PkM) aims to strengthen disaster mitigation literacy and community sanitation resilience through an intergenerational multi-grade approach involving children, adolescents, parents, and the elderly. Methods applied include Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA)-based participatory education, family hygiene kit distribution, psychosocial intervention through trauma-informed pedagogy, and communal asset governance assistance. The program is implemented over ten months (February–November 2026) through four systematic phases. Expected outcomes include enhanced community knowledge on disaster mitigation and healthy sanitation practices, sustainable formation of clean and safe living behaviors, and the establishment of a replicable intergenerational community education model for other disaster-prone areas

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze how religious moderation values are portrayed in Indonesian language textbooks used at Islamic Higher Education. Documents from relevant textbooks were analyzed using a qualitative descriptive approach combined with content analysis strategies. The documents analyzed were six Indonesian language textbooks used at the Islamic Higher Education of Central Java Province. Interactive analysis methods were used to analyze the data. Eight fundamental principles of religious moderation are included in the textbooks, according to the findings: 1) fair; 2) deliberation; 3) pioneering; 4) reform; 5) tolerance; 6) nationalism/patriotism; 7) anti-violence; 8) accommodation of local culture. The values that were most commonly portrayed among these were nationalism and the spirit of pioneering. Tolerance, opposition to violence and extremism, and respect for local culture were among the other qualities that were not equally or proportionately incorporated. These books focus more on character building and nationalistic attitudes. Opportunities to create Indonesian language textbooks that more fully and fairly integrate religious moderation values are highlighted by these findings. According to the result, promoting religious moderation in Islamic Higher Education requires balanced content. With Indonesian language textbooks that contain various moderation values proportionally and comprehensively, it is hoped that they can strengthen the spread of moderate attitudes.
