Abstract

This study compares students' abilities using the Item Response Theory (IRT) approach to dichotomous and polytomous scoring. This research is quantitative descriptive. The research subjects were 1175 high school students in class XI spread across West Java and Banten provinces, consisting of 450 male students and 725 female students. Response data with dichotomous scoring were analyzed using the item response theory approach with the BILOG-MG program, while the polytomous scoring was analyzed using the GPCM approach using the R program. The results of the model fit test showed that the items most fit with the 2PL model. The instrument used is a work and energy material test instrument tested for validity d, reliability, distinguishing power, and difficulty level. The results showed that the average ability with a polytomous score was greater than that of a dichotomous, even though compared to having almost the same ability but with a relatively different distribution. The distribution of students' abilities with polytomous scoring is closer to the normal curve than the dichotomous scoring. The relationship between students' ability scores with these two scoring approaches is shown by a correlation coefficient score of 0.990 and a determination index of 0.9808 with a prediction line y= 0.9735 x +0.0036.

Abstract

Learning in the era of the new university regulations experienced a revolution in students’ learning style and teachers’ teaching style because this situation caused many changes in the learning system. Different types of learning alternatives are carried out to achieve learning that meets these conditions. Integrative STEM was selected as one of the learning models in the new order era. However, inclusive STEM learning is difficult to do without support or learning tools, especially in distance learning. Based on these needs, this research was carried out to develop support devices for the integrative STEM model in university physics class students. This research is research and development (R&D). The development model used uses a 4D development model. The 4D model is synonymous with definition, design, development, and dissemination. In this study, an assistive device model was developed in an integrative MINT learning device. The analysis results show that the development of integrative learning tools based on STEM for students is rated as good, with an average of 80%.

Abstract

Physics education emphasizes students' ability to represent a problem and then choose alternative solutions from various perspectives. However, teachers still very rarely use this ability as the focus of assessment. The purpose of this study is to describe the results of an assessment of the ability to represent multiple physics in each of its components. This is survey research that takes a quantitative approach. This study's sample included 287 high school students from Yogyakartam using cluster sampling. The instrument used is a physics multiple representation ability test that has been tested for validity, reliability, and item quality using IRT 1 PL analysis. According to the measurement results, physics high school students' dual representation ability in all aspects, namely mathematical representation, graphic representation, image representation, and verbal representation, is in the low category. However, according to the four existing components, the mathematical component is the highest and the verbal component is the lowest. So this finding can be a reference for teachers in improving the quality of physics teaching.

Abstract

The western happiness scale measures those material aspects, so it will not be objective when applied in low-income countries. Furthermore, Countries with high happiness ratings, which may ignore the importance of spirituality, have significantly higher rates of depression and suicide. Islam is the highest source of spirituality for its adherents. They believe happiness cannot only be measured by the material aspect and ignore the spiritual part. This study aims to develop a happiness scale that measures Muslim spiritual-material aspects. We used a development research approach to design an instrument based on the thoughts of Abdullah bin Abbas, test its validity, and estimate its reliability. The authors found Seven sub-scales and thirty-one valid items for Muslim spiritual happiness. The current instrument of happiness can be used to measure the spiritual happiness of Muslims. The authors expected that these findings encourage other researchers to improve the current version and develop a better and more valid instrument.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze item parameters' characteristics and estimate prospective physics teachers' ability on the Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) Instrument using the Generalized Partial Credit Model (GPCM). The research subjects were 251 prospective physics teacher students in two universities concerned with producing prospective teacher graduates. Two-Tier Multiple Choice (TTMC) forms with a polytomous score of four categories make up the test instrument. Data analysis includes two stages: testing assumptions and the suitability of the Politomus IRT model. The results showed that the most suitable polytomous scoring IRT model was GPCM2PL. The item parameter analysis for the HOTS Instrument test shows the discriminating power parameter (a) value for all items included in the good category, namely the interval 0.00 to 2.00. The difficulty level analysis (b) also shows the percentage of 100% of items included in the medium category because the b value of all items is in the interval (-2) to (2).
