Abstract

Students' reading motivation is likely low due to internal and external factors. The internal factors, for example, are intelligence, age, gender, reading ability, attitudes, and psychological needs. The external factors include the theme, level of reading difficulty, and the type of reading. This research was conducted to know whether the use of Content Differentiated Instructions (CoDI) in teaching could affect students' motivation in reading, especially descriptive text. This kind of text was chosen because it is the simplest text among five other kinds of text that are given to beginner-level students, in this case, students of junior high school. The researcher tried to find out whether the implementation of CoDI could affect the students’ motivation in reading.  In this study, the researcher used a qualitative method.  The data used were in the form of answers or student responses in the form of questionnaires. The result was that using CoDI affects the students’ motivation in reading descriptive text.

Abstract

Character education has become crucial in individual development, especially in today's modern era. This article explains an effective approach to character formation through extracurricular, teenage scientific groups, by integrating Al-Ghazali perspectives. The main focus is on Al-Ghazali's views of ethics, morality, and positive moral development. The extracurricular scientific groups of adolescents have the potential to achieve character education goals. By defining the purpose of the group, its relationship with the character, and the methods of development used, this article analyzes the compatibility of Al-Ghazali values with the activity of the teenage scientific group. Case studies highlight the implementation of this concept, evaluate the positive impact on group members, and highlight the role of guidance. Challenges and opportunities in integrating traditional concepts into modern contexts were also discussed. In conclusion, this article provides an in-depth insight into how extracurricular teenage scientific groups can be an effective medium in shaping characters according to Al-Ghazali's views.

Abstract

Penelitian yang dilaksanakan oleh Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto mengeksplorasi efektivitas integrasi nilai-nilai karakter Mohammad Hatta dalam program pendidikan antikorupsi. Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi pengaruh nilai-nilai integritas, kejujuran, dan tanggung jawab terhadap etos antikorupsi di kalangan mahasiswa. Melalui metode kualitatif yang mencakup wawancara, observasi, dan analisis dokumen kurikulum, penelitian ini mengungkapkan hasil positif dari integrasi nilai-nilai tersebut, meskipun ada beberapa hambatan dalam implementasinya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai-nilai ini telah berhasil diinternalisasi dalam kurikulum dan praktik pembelajaran, dengan dosen dan mahasiswa sama-sama mengakui manfaatnya. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan pengembangan materi dan metode pembelajaran yang lebih adaptif dan relevan dengan tantangan kontemporer. Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto telah mengambil inisiatif untuk mengadopsi pendekatan pembelajaran yang lebih interaktif melalui studi kasus, role-playing, dan simulasi, serta integrasi teknologi untuk menanamkan nilai-nilai antikorupsi. Implementasi temuan ini diharapkan tidak hanya memperkuat dasar etika mahasiswa tetapi juga membekali mereka dengan keterampilan praktis untuk menjadi agen perubahan sosial yang positif dan bertanggung jawab.

Abstract

The implementation of the independent curriculum at the elementary school level through the implementation of the project of strengthening the profile of Pancasila students (P-5) requires schools to apply character values as they should. However, elementary schools do not yet fully understand the concept of character values conveyed by Muslim figures and their implementation in schools. This research aims to describe character education according to Al-Ghazali and the implementation of character education in schools. This research method is done qualitatively by means of literature study and descriptive study through learning observation at school and interviews with teachers. The collected data was then analyzed qualitatively with the stages of reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. The results show that the character education carried out at Semai Elementary School is in accordance with the moral values conveyed by Al-Ghazali in the aspects of moral education, methods of moral formation, and character values that emerge such as having faith and good character, independence, critical reasoning, creative, mutual cooperation and global diversity.

Abstract

Education is very important to build individuals who are in accordance with the values and culture of their society. The purpose of this study is to describe the relevance of Immanuel Kant's Idealism Philosophy in character education in elementary schools. Kant's view of this philosophy shows how important it is to build the intellect, stick to objective moral principles, and respect human dignity. The purpose of this character education is to produce people who have good character, reason, and act morally in everyday life. This study uses qualitative research with a literature approach through purposive sampling technique. Books, journals, papers, articles, and other scientific works relevant to the research subject are used in this study. The data analysis process uses the content analysis method that focuses on Kant's Idealism theory in teaching character education in elementary schools. The results show that the purpose of character education in elementary schools is to foster students' ethics, morals, values and characters. Some of the main values of character education emphasized by Immanuel Kant's philosophy of idealism are as follows: curiosity, national spirit, and love for the country, religion, honesty, tolerance, discipline, hard work, creativity, independence, environmental care, social care, responsibility, and love to read. Character education is very important to build students' character and make elementary school a good place to learn.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian pada artikel ini ada dua. 1) Mendeskripsikan kemampuan kepala sekolah dalam memberi inspirasi para guru untuk menumbuhkembangkan pembelajaran 2) Mengeksplorasi kemampuan kepala sekolah dalam menstimulus ide kreatif para guru untuk menumbuhkembangkan pembelajaran.  Jenis penelitian ini kualitatif etnografi. Subjek penelitian kepala sekolah, guru, karyawan dan komite sekolah. Metode pengumpulan data observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data dengan model alur. Proses analisis data reduksi data, penyajian data dan verifikasi serta penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian: 1) Kepala sekolah menunjukkan penumbuhan inspirasi dengan melalui pemutaran video inspiratif, kegiatan menulis dan program inspiring monday.  Kepala sekolah mengkomunikasikan visi, misi dan tujuan secara jelas kepada bawahan serta memberikan keteladanan dalam memimpin. 2) Stimulus ide kreatif kepala SD Muhammadiyah Birrul Walidain Kudus kepada para guru dengan memberikan tantangan dalam menumbuhkembangkan diri dan kompetensinya menjadi lebih baik. Memberikan keleluasaan menciptakan, mengembangkan program yang menunjang tumbuhkembang peserta didik serta memberikan stimulus pemecahan masalah untuk belajar kreatif dalam menyelesaikan masalah

Abstract

Voice of Democracy merupakan salah satu dari tujuh tema Proyek Penguatan Profil Mahasiswa Pancasila atau P5 sebagai upaya mewujudkan profil mahasiswa pancasila dengan menggunakan paradigma pembelajaran baru berbasis proyek. (Kemendikbud, Ristek, 2021). Voice of Democracy merupakan tema yang strategis untuk mengenalkan kepada mahasiswa sebagai subjek pembelajaran agar terbiasa dengan sikap-sikap demokratis, seperti: berpikir kritis, kebebasan berekspresi dan bersikap egaliter. Dalam hal menempatkan manusia sebagai subjek dengan menjunjung tinggi harkat dan martabat manusia, serta mendorong aktualisasi potensi manusia secara optimal, perspektif humanisme Ki Hajar Dewantara sedikit banyak dapat membantu para siswa dalam mengembangkan karakter mereka dengan Pancadarma Taman Siswa yang terdiri dari asas kemerdekaan berketuhanan, kebangsaan, dan kemanusiaan. (Pelu, Musa, 2020). Ki Hajar Dewantara mengembangkan sikap egaliter atau kesetaraan dalam pendidikan. Baginya, pendidikan harus terbuka terhadap keberagaman dan dapat diakses oleh siapa saja tanpa membeda-bedakan latar belakang sosial, ekonomi, maupun budaya dengan lima unsur, yaitu: 1) Kesetaraan, 2) Inklusifitas, 3) Keaslian, 4) Pembelajaran yang berpusat pada siswa, 5) Kebebasan Fisik dan Mental. (Aryati, Aryati, 2023). Artikel ini berusaha untuk mengeksplorasi dan menganalisis relevansi perspektif Ki Hajar Dewantara tentang pendidikan humanisme di masa kini.  Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif-kualitatif yang mencoba mendalami konsep pendidikan kritis Paulo Freire: Penyadaran dan Pembebasan (Aryati, Aryati, 2023) dan konsep pendidikan empatik Carl Rogers yang bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi dan menganalisis seberapa relevan dan signifikan sumbangsih perspektif Ki Hajar Dewantara tentang pendidikan humanisme terhadap Proyek Suara Demokrasi.  Penelitian ini menggunakan metode tinjauan pustaka yang relevan dengan topik penelitian. Kajian pustaka bertujuan untuk menyajikan pemahaman yang mendalam dengan cara mengeksplorasi literatur yang relevan dengan konsep pembahasan. Hasil penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa seiring dengan perkembangan dan perubahan zaman, perspektif Ki Hajar Dewantara tentang pendidikan humanis, jika ingin digunakan sebagai kerangka acuan teoritis bagi proyek Suara Demokrasi, perlu dilengkapi dan dipertajam dengan konsep pendidikan empatik-kritis yang disingkat "Titis".

Abstract

Connectivism provides abundant enchanting experiences in ELT context due to the benefits that it offers. However, as the practice requires technology integration, physical, and psychological readiness, teachers discover challenges upon the implementation. This study aims at investigating the benefits and challenges of the practice in ELT context. Through content analysis qualitative study, the study attains the targeted exploration. 5 experienced English teachers are selected to conduct semi-structured interviews. The data were analyzed and reviewed by the researchers and experts for affording the valid results. The results provide valuable insights towards the issues that are raised. This study sheds a light on the essence of digital environment in ELT which assists the feasible various sources of learning to be attained. Findings revealed that Connectivism can definitely foster learners’ language skills, such as speaking, listening, and pronunciation through the various digital platforms that are provided. Interestingly, connectivism is advantageous for strengthening learners' 21st century skills, namely critical thinking, collaboration, communication skills, and creativity in learning English. On the other hand, the challenges encountered by teachers in integrating connectivism are 1) inadequate facilities and infrastructure, 2) lack of training and development in educator resources, and 3) low internet network access or the bandwidth.

Abstract

Analisis pembentukan karakter enterpreneur dalam perspekstif Thomas Lickona merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan litertur review. Rendahnya jumlah lulusan Sekolah Menengah yang berminat menjadi enterprenuer dan tingginya angka pengangguran akan mempengaruhi pertumbuhan ekonomi. Sekolah mempunyai peran strategis dalam pembangunan ekonomi melalui pendidikan kewirausahaan. Pembentukan karakter wirausaha di sekolah selama ini masih mengintegrasikan pemahaman (cognitives), sikap (attitides), dan motivasi (motivations), serta karakter (behaviors) dan kapabilitas (skills). Penelitian dilakukan dengan menelaah Rencana Pelaksana Pembelajaran pada mata pelajaran Pendidikan Kewirausahaan di SMK Muhammadiyah Kutowinangu, SMAN Buluspesantren dan SMAN Pejagoan Kabupaten Kebumen. Dari hasil penelitian didapat bahwa : 1) Pembelajaran Kewirausahaan di Sekolah Menengah dalam perspesktif pendidikan karkater Thomas Lickona khususnya belum mengitegrasikan antara pemahaman (cognitives), sikap (attitides), dan motivasi (motivations), serta perilaku (behaviors) dan kapabilitas (skills). 2) Pendidikan Kewirausahaan di Sekolah Menengah selama ini belum mampu merubah pola pikir atau perubahan mindset peserta didik dari calon pekerja menjadi calon enterprenuer (pengusaha). 3) Perencanaan pembelajaran Kewirausahaan dapat dilakukan melalui ancangan/pendekatan, yakni; ancangan penanaman nilai (inculcation approach); ancangan perkembangan moral kognitif (cognitive moral development approach); ancangan analisis nilai (values analysis approach); ancangan klarifikasi nilai (values clarification approach); dan ancangan pembelajaran berbuat (action learning approach).

Abstract

This qualitative study aims to examine the types and realization of the use of Code Switching communication strategies used by junior high school students when communicating in English as a foreign language. The research subjects were 30 students of SMP N IV Surakarta. The research objects were the types and realization of the use of code switching communication strategies used by students when communicating in English. Data were collected through the elicitation technique in which the participants were given the task to describe a cartoon; their speech was recorded and used as the data source. The data were analyzed qualitatively by inductive techniques using Dornyei and Myers-Scotton analysis frameworks. Research findings were interpreted by using relevant theory. The results showed that the learners used three types of code switching, namely: tag code switching, intra sentential code switching, and inter-sentential code switching. And there were three factors that contributed to the use of code switching, namely mastery of bilingual or bilingual, limited mastery of English, and as a compensation strategy. It can be concluded that the use of code switching by English learners as a foreign language is a natural and unavoidable. Because code switching is one of the communication strategies to compensate for the limited mastery of the target language.
