Abstract

This study's purposes are to identify the categories of hate expressions, identify the strategies of hate expression, and describe the functions of hate expression used by Twitter users toward Meghan Markle as a response to the report that Meghan may run for US president. The objects used were hate expressions used by Twitter netizens. This study applied qualitative descriptive research as the method of research. The data were Twitter replies that contained hate towards Meghan Markle. This study used Mondal et al. (2017), Culpeper (1996), and Bebee (1995) theory for analyzing the data. The results showed that: (1) There are six categories of hate expression to Meghan Markle on Twitter, namely hate the expression of behavior, class, disability, ethnicity, religion, and gender (2) There are four types of strategies of hate expression, namely bald on record impoliteness, positive impoliteness, negative impoliteness, and sarcasm or mock politeness (3) There are four functions of hate expression that thrown by Twitter users, namely expressing unpleasant feelings, entertaining the target audience, mocking the figure, and expressing disagreement.

Abstract

The aim of this study is Project Based Learning with philosophy realism in Hospitality Education. This study is qualitative descriptive literature research. This article discusses about philosophy education realism in informal education for practice or Project Based Learning. In this study, researchers take Project based Learning, namely training / coaching for hotel workers candidate. The results of this research show the approach Project Based Learning is not only facilitate learning holistic based on the actual projects, but also deliver experience practical for students as the emphasized by Aristotle in his theory It is emphasized understanding through action. This article presents strong argument of integration Aristotle's philosophy in learning context, and creating correlation between theory and practice as well as in preparing student for facing demands of the actual world of hospitality industry.

Abstract

Membaca merupakan proses yang dilakukan untuk memperoleh pesan kemudian disampaikan dengan menggunakan kata-kata secara tertulis. Gerakan literasi membaca pada peserta didik merupakan suatu kegiatan yang dirancang agar siswa saat membaca tidak hanya mahir membaca. Akan tetapi, siswa juga dapat memahami isi bacaan. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk meningkatakan kemampuan membaca siswa kelas I dan II dengan menggunakan media bergambar. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan KKN pengabdian masyarakat ini dila-kukan melalui beberapa tahap, antara lain  sebagai berikut (1) Menghubungi mitra kerja sama kepada kepala Desa Sendangagung untuk meminta izin melakukan kegiatan KKN, (2) Mendiskusikan program kerja yang telah disusun kelompok kami dan di kaitkan dengan permasalahan yang terjadi pada anak-anak di lingkungan Dukuh Jiwir, (3) mengumpulkan anak-anak di lingkungan Dukuh Jiwir Khususnya kelas I dan II, (4) mengukur kemampuan membaca anak, (5) melatih anak-anak untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca dengan menggunakan metode bergambar. Hasil pengabdian ini yaitu kemampuan membaca anak dengan berlatih menggunakan media bergambar lebih meningkat dari pada sebelumnya. Sebelumnya kesulitan membaca, tetapi dengan adanya media bergambar lebih membantu anak dalam meningkatkan kemampuan membaca.

Abstract

Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kreativitas dalam segi motif dan variasi pada anyaman bambu, menambah daya tarik konsumen, peningkatan peminat pada kerajinan tangan tradisional, dan ekonomi pengrajin sendiri meningkat. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan KKN Pengabdian masyarakat ini dilakukan melalui beberapa tahap, (1) Melakukan koordinasi dengan pemerintah desa yaitu lurah Desa Sendangagung, RT, perajin an-yaman bambu Dukuh Jiwir RT 02 RW 01 Desa Sendangagung, (2) Tahap identifikasi berupa obervasi dan wawancara kepada masyarakat sekitar dukuh Jiwir desa, (3) Ikut andil dalam proses pembuatan anyaman bambu, (4) Melakukan proses dokumentasi sebagai bagian dari pengambilan data, (5) Mahasiswa mulai me-nyusun laporan pengabdian berupa artikel publikasi. Hasil dari pengabdian ini menunjukkan bahwa program untuk meningkat-kan kreativitas dalam mengembangkan kerajinan anyaman bam-bu di dukuh Jiwir dalam bentuk variasi dan motif. Dalam segi variasi dikembangkan memproduksi anyaman berupa produk anyaman kipas sate, sedangkan segi motif berupa pewarnaan an-yaman besek supaya terdapat nilai estetika.

Abstract

This research explores the professional identity formation of non-native English-speaking teachers (NNESTs) from a personal viewpoint, an area not extensively covered in existing literature. While there is a wealth of discussion on teacher professional identity, the subjective experiences of NNESTs in shaping their own identities are often overlooked. This autobiographical narrative study addresses this gap by examining my own experiences as an NNEST, integrating reflections from my time as a student and my practice as a teacher. Employing thematic analysis, this research scrutinizes reflection data and artifacts gathered throughout my academic and professional journey. This method allows for a comprehensive examination of how various experiences influence professional identity formation. The findings reveal that an NNEST's professional identity is significantly shaped by the professional context, which includes direct teaching experiences and teacher education, as well as the external political environment, such as government policies and efforts to improve educational quality. The study is particularly relevant in the context of developing countries, like Indonesia, highlighting the intricate relationship between personal experiences, professional settings, and the wider political context in the development of NNEST identities. This research contributes a unique perspective to the field of teacher identity and underscores the distinct challenges and influences that NNESTs encounter in their professional growth.

Abstract

In the digital age, autonomous learning has become a cornerstone of education, particularly in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) contexts, where writing autonomy plays a crucial role in fostering critical thinking, creativity, and effective communication. The rapid shift to online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic created new opportunities to enhance writing autonomy through technology and digital tools. However, the integration of these advancements remains limited in contexts like Indonesia, where traditional education models prevail. This qualitative case study investigates the factors influencing online autonomous writing among Indonesian EFL learners, focusing on five secondary school students who participated through structured interviews and reflective journals. Findings reveal that technology, such as grammar checkers and online platforms, significantly enhances writing accuracy and fosters learner autonomy, while teacher feedback is a crucial guide for improvement. Additionally, collaborative processes stimulate critical thinking and deeper engagement, creating dynamic environments conducive to autonomous learning. These insights underscore the transformative potential of digital tools and feedback mechanisms in supporting writing development. By addressing existing gaps in the literature, this study offers practical recommendations for educators and policymakers, emphasizing the importance of integrating digital tools effectively and providing robust teacher training in digital pedagogy to improve EFL writing outcomes in increasingly digitalized learning environments.

Abstract

Classroom Management Self-Efficacy (CMSE) is crucial for teachers to effectively manage diverse student needs, fostering preparedness, perseverance, and the ability to maintain a productive learning environment. This study examines how Indonesia’s Pendidikan Profesi Guru (PPG), or Teacher Professional Education program, enhances CMSE among certified English teachers. By exploring the experiences of three purposively selected junior high school teachers, this research highlights the role of professional development in building teaching confidence. Data were gathered through a validated CMSE scale, which assessed perceptions across various classroom management domains, and semi-structured interviews that provided rich qualitative insights. Using the interactive model by Miles, Huberman, and Saldana (2014), the analysis revealed two key findings: teachers with high CMSE consistently exhibited perseverance, motivation, and sociability—critical traits for effective classroom management—and participants credited the PPG program, particularly its structured components such as material deepening, learning device development, and teaching practice (PPL), with significantly improving their CMSE. These findings emphasize that well-designed professional development programs not only boost self-efficacy but also equip teachers with practical skills for managing classrooms effectively. The study concludes that sustained engagement in programs like PPG is vital for enhancing classroom management skills and offers valuable insights for shaping teacher education policies and practices to ensure continuous professional growth and improved teaching outcomes.

Abstract

Tujuan umum penelitian dan pengembangan ini untuk mengembangkan modul seni berbasis kearifan lokal di Universitas Muhammadiyah Lampung (UML). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan profil kemampuan literasi budaya pada mahasiswa Prodi Pendidikan Bahasa Indonesia, FKIP, UM Lampung, yakni aspek (1) memahami diversitas budaya, (2) mengetahui budaya di lingkungan sendiri, (3) kepedulian terhadap budaya. Secara keseluruhan, penelitian ini merupakan penelitian dan pengembangan. Penelitian ini berjenis kualitatif etnografi. Penelitian dilaksanakan di UM Lampung tahun akademik 2022/2023 semester ganjil. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan observasi pastisipatif, wawancara mendalam, dan analisis dokumen. Validasi data dilakukan dengan cara triangulasi sumber dan waktu. Teknik analisis data dilakukan secara reciprocal. Penelitian ini menghasilkan profil kemampuan literasi budaya yang dikelompokkan menjadi tiga, yakni (1) memahami diversitas budaya terkait: keragaman upacara pernikahan adat di beberapa daerah di Nusantara dan Lampung, (2) mengetahui budaya sendiri terkait upacara pernikahan adat Lampung, (3) kepedulian terhadap budaya masih belum membudaya, diperlukan metode dan bahan ajar yang tepat untuk dijadikan solusi.

Abstract

Early Childhood learning prioritizes developing cognitive intelligence rather thanaffective intelligence or character building. This research is a type of exploratory descriptiveresearch. Exploratory descriptive research aims to describe the state of a phenomenon. Thisresearch is not intended to test certain hypotheses, only to describe what a variable, symptomor condition is. This research wants to further analyze related to early childhood charactereducation based on Kohlberg using literature studies obtained from various scientificsources. The urgency of character education for each individual is an absolute thing to do asan effort to build a generation that contributes to the progress of the nation. Charactereducation efforts certainly cannot escape from the psychological aspects contained inindividuals which may influence the process of achieving the success of character buildingitself. One of the most significant individual psychological aspects for the development ofindividual personality is the moral aspect.

Abstract

John Dewey's pragmatic thinking is able to contribute to Indonesian education, especially in the curriculum which can provide freedom for students to be free, active, and flexible learning, as well as strengthen their character of attitudes. The purpose of this research is to examine John Dewey's pragmatic thinking and his contribution to Indonesian Education over the last few decades. The research method used in this systematic review focuses on a narrative summary of thematic analysis which includes three stages: planning the review, conducting the review, and reporting the review. The results showed that current research trends and focus are more absorbed on the processes and outcomes such as developing the basic framework education, quality of learning, quality of education, learning strategies, management of education, development of education systems, development of learning methods. In addition, there are also several strategies that can be developed through John Dewey's pragmatic thinking, such as logical thinking, metaphysics, theory of knowledge of freedom, opinion, creativity in effective, quality, and modern learning practices. These findings indicate that future study must focus on comprehensive teaching and learning preparation and changing classroom practices which adopting John Dewey's pragmatist concept of thinking to respond 21st century skills.
