Abstract

This study examines Generation Z students’ responses to the collaboration of conventional and modern learning media in Islamic Religious Education (PAI). A mixed-methods approach was employed using a seven-item Likert-scale questionnaire complemented by open-ended questions. Data were collected from 52 senior secondary students in Aceh Province through student-level random sampling. Quantitative data were analyzed descriptively using frequencies and percentages, while qualitative responses were interpreted through thematic analysis. The findings indicate that conventional learning media remain positively perceived because they support clearer understanding of PAI content, strengthen focus and discipline, and facilitate value internalization through direct classroom interaction. At the same time, modern learning media—particularly video-based resources and interactive applications—are perceived to enhance engagement, accessibility, and learning motivation. Qualitative evidence further suggests that students view the integration of both media types as complementary: conventional approaches provide structure, seriousness, and moral guidance, whereas modern media enrich learning through variety, interactivity, and flexibility. These results underline the importance of an integrative PAI learning strategy that remains value-oriented while responding to Generation Z learning preferences in the digital era.

Abstract

Abstract

Studies on children's emotional well-being in dual-career families have proliferated, yet the integration of Carl Whitaker's Symbolic-Experiential Family Therapy (SEFT) with Islamic values remains largely unexplored, particularly within the Indonesian cultural context. This study addresses this gap by constructing an integrative conceptual framework that bridges SEFT principles with Islamic epistemology as a response to children's emotional problems in dual-career families. This research employs a systematic integrative literature review method, utilizing thematic analysis of peer-reviewed articles sourced from Google Scholar, ERIC, and DOAJ databases (2013–2024), with inclusion criteria focused on family therapy, children's emotional regulation, and Islamic counseling. Findings reveal three key propositions: (1) children's emotional difficulties in dual-career families are non-deterministic and mediated primarily by the quality of parental emotional responsiveness, not merely the quantity of time; (2) Whitaker's therapeutic mechanisms authentic emotional expression, symbolic communication, and catalytic therapist involvement align structurally with Islamic principles of Siddiq (truthfulness), Amanah (parental responsibility), and Hakam (mediator) as in QS. An-Nisa [4]:35; and (3) this study contributes the SEFT-Islamic Family Counseling Framework (SIFT-Framework) a novel integrative model equipping counselors with culturally and spiritually grounded tools to restore family sakinah amid modern career pressures. This framework addresses a gap in existing Indonesian Islamic counseling literature by operationalizing the correspondence between experiential therapy and Islamic epistemology.   Keywords: Symbolic Experiential Therapy Carl Whitaker, Children's Emotional Dynamics, Dual-Career Families, Islamic Values, Integrative Framework.

Abstract

Previous hypnoteaching studies in education predominantly focus on learning outcomes and motivation improvement, while limited attention has been given to the psycho-pedagogical mechanisms of conscious and subconscious mind engagement from students’ lived learning experiences. This gap leaves unanswered questions regarding how hypnoteaching operates internally during classroom interaction, particularly in religious education contexts. This study aims to explore how the conscious and subconscious mind are empowered through hypnoteaching and how students experience light trance conditions in the learning process. Employing a qualitative case study approach, the research was conducted in an Islamic junior secondary school (MTs) involving one teacher and twenty-four eighth-grade students in Pendidikan Agama Islam classes over eight weeks. Data were collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews, and learning documentation, and analyzed using thematic coding. The findings reveal three major themes: (1) emotional comfort as a gateway to light trance, (2) reduced critical resistance and increased learning receptivity, and (3) internalization of positive belief systems through repetitive suggestion. These findings demonstrate that hypnoteaching functions not merely as a motivational technique but as a humanistic pedagogical mechanism that restructures students’ learning consciousness. This study contributes theoretically by extending hypnoteaching discourse beyond outcome-based evaluation toward experiential and psychopedagogical analysis, and practically by offering an evidence-based framework for reflective hypnoteaching implementation in Islamic education.

Abstract

This study examines how Qur’an recitation fosters inner peace among female students at Dayah Athiyah Banda Aceh. Despite growing evidence on the psychological benefits of Qur’anic practices, limited research has explored how daily recitation operates as a structured psycho-spiritual process within Islamic boarding schools, especially from the perspective of female students. Addressing this gap, the study employed a qualitative case study involving six students and one teacher, using in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation, with data analysed through Braun and Clarke’s reflexive thematic analysis. Three analytical themes were identified: emotional regulation through rhythmic recitation, which captures how tilawah reduces anxiety and stabilizes affect; cognitive centering for learning readiness, which reflects improvements in focus, mental clarity, and memorization preparedness; and spiritual anchoring and transcendental meaning-making, which highlights students’ experiences of divine connection, gratitude, and strengthened faith. Collectively, these themes show that Qur’an recitation functions as an integrated form of psycho-spiritual regulation shaped by the religious environment of the pesantren. The study contributes to existing literature by demonstrating how daily tilawah can serve as a structured model of Tilawah-Based Spiritual Therapy that supports emotional, cognitive, and spiritual well-being among female students.

Abstract

The development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has significantly transformed the educational sector, including the learning process of Qur'anic memorization (tahfidz Al-Qur'an). The integration of AI has introduced more personalized, adaptive, and flexible learning systems through features such as speech recognition, automated assessment, learning performance analysis, and muraja'ah reminders. However, the implementation of AI in Islamic education also raises pedagogical, spiritual, and ethical challenges that require further scholarly attention. This study aims to analyze the opportunities and challenges of using Artificial Intelligence (AI) in tahfidz Al-Qur'an learning. The research employed a qualitative approach, using library research and content analysis techniques. Data were collected from scholarly articles, academic books, and prior studies on AI, Islamic education, and Qur'anic memorization. The findings reveal that AI significantly improves the effectiveness of tahfidz learning through personalized learning systems, flexible access to learning, real-time recitation evaluation, and enhanced muraja'ah quality. AI-based applications such as Tarteel, Qara’a, and Ngaji.ai enable learners to memorize the Qur'an more independently and systematically. Nevertheless, the use of AI also has the potential to reduce direct interaction between teachers and students, weaken the spiritual dimension of learning, and create challenges related to digital ethics and technological literacy gaps. This study argues that AI cannot replace teachers' role as spiritual mentors in Tahfidz Al-Qur'an education. Therefore, the integration of AI should be guided by humanistic and spiritual approaches to ensure that technology serves as a supportive educational tool without diminishing the essential values of Islamic education.

Abstract

hydrometeorological disasters, including floods, flash floods, strong winds, and extreme rainfall. Within the socio-religious context of Acehnese society, dayah (Islamic boarding schools) play a strategic role not only as centers of Islamic education but also as institutions that foster social values, spiritual resilience, and environmental awareness. This study aims to examine the responses of dayah communities to hydrometeorological disasters and to analyze the role of dayah in disaster management from the perspective of Islamic ecotheology. A qualitative approach with an exploratory case study design was employed in three dayahs located in Meurah Dua District, Pidie Jaya Regency. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and document analysis and were analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings reveal that dayah communities respond to disasters through pre-disaster preparedness, emergency response, and post-disaster recovery activities grounded in spiritual values, social solidarity, and local wisdom. Islamic ecotheological principles, particularly khalifah (stewardship), amanah (trust), and mizan (balance), serve as the foundation for environmental awareness, disaster preparedness, and community resilience. Dayahs also function as centers for disaster education, psychosocial support, humanitarian assistance, and the dissemination of environmental conservation values. However, limited mitigation infrastructure, inadequate technical disaster management capacity, and weak coordination with external institutions remain significant challenges. The study concludes that integrating Islamic ecotheology, local wisdom, and modern disaster science can strengthen community-based resilience and contribute to sustainable hydrometeorological disaster management.

Abstract

The development of social media has brought significant changes to educational practices, including the delivery of Islamic Religious Education (IRE) materials. Social media is no longer merely a means of communication, but has evolved into an alternative space that facilitates the distribution, reinterpretation, and reproduction of IRE materials in the digital realm. This article aims to analyze how Islamic Religious Education materials undergo transformation when produced and disseminated through social media timelines. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature review, through a systematic review of literature relevant to Islamic education and digital media. The results of the study show that this transformation is evident in changes to the form and format of PAI material, which tends to be more concise, visual, contextual, and responsive to current issues. In addition, social media also influences the pattern of material production, in which not only formal educational institutions play a role, but also digital actors who present PAI material in various styles of communication. This transformation expands access to religious learning, but at the same time presents pedagogical challenges in the form of material fragmentation and the potential simplification of teaching substance. These findings confirm that social media has shaped a new landscape for Islamic education in the digital age. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen digital and religious literacy so that the transformation of Islamic Education material in the timeline remains in line with pedagogical principles and systematic Islamic scientific traditions.
