Abstract

This study addresses the problem of low teacher discipline in early childhood education (ECE), which is influenced by various psychological and organizational factors. The research aimed to analyze the relationships among emotional intelligence, school climate, work motivation, and teacher discipline. A mixed-methods approach was used involving 100 ECE teachers in Semarang City selected through purposive sampling. Quantitative data were obtained through standardized questionnaires and analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM), while qualitative data were collected through semi-structured interviews with teachers and principals. SEM analysis showed a good model fit (χ²/df = 1.89; CFI = 0.95; TLI = 0.94; RMSEA = 0.052). Emotional intelligence significantly affected work motivation (β = 0.41, p < 0.001) and teacher discipline (β = 0.34, p = 0.001). School climate also significantly influenced work motivation (β = 0.38, p < 0.001) and discipline (β = 0.29, p = 0.003). Work motivation had a positive effect on teacher discipline (β = 0.30, p = 0.001) and partially mediated the effects of emotional intelligence and school climate. The study concludes that strengthening emotional intelligence, building a supportive school climate, and enhancing work motivation are essential strategies to improve teacher discipline in ECE settings.

Abstract

Effective learning requires an approach that aligns with how students construct knowledge. Constructivist learning theory emphasizes that students actively construct their own understanding through meaningful learning experiences. This article discusses the application of constructivist theory in the learning process in elementary schools, specifically in improving understanding of academic concepts. With this approach, teachers are no longer the sole source of information, but rather act as facilitators, encouraging exploration, discussion, and reflection. Constructivist-based learning has also been shown to help students connect new knowledge with prior experiences, making learning more personal and in-depth. Through this study, it is hoped that teachers can design more participatory and contextual learning strategies to optimally support children's cognitive development.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the dynamics of character education in addressing digital technology disruption in formal education, particularly at SD Nasima. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach to explore how digital technology is integrated into the learning process while maintaining the implementation of character education. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving school principals, teachers, and students. The findings reveal that digital technology has been effectively utilized to enhance student engagement, motivation, and learning experiences through various digital platforms and interactive media. At the same time, character education remains a central focus, implemented through classroom activities, school culture, and daily habituation. However, several challenges were identified, including excessive gadget use, reduced face-to-face social interaction, and disparities in students’ digital literacy levels. To address these challenges, the school has implemented strategies such as strengthening digital literacy, regulating technology use, integrating character values into digital learning, and fostering collaboration with parents. The study concludes that character education in the digital era can be effectively sustained through the balanced integration of technology, strong teacher competence, and active collaboration between schools and families.

Abstract

Choosing an elementary school is a complex decision for parents, influenced by multiple factors. This study aims to analyze the determinants of parents’ decisions in selecting an Integrated Islamic Elementary School (SDIT), identify the most dominant factor, and examine the moderating role of trust. The research was conducted at SDIT Cahaya Bangsa, Semarang City, using a quantitative approach with multiple regression and Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). Data were collected through a closed-ended questionnaire from 244 parents and analyzed using SPSS software. The findings indicate that religious values (B = 0.363), school services (B = 0.259), character education (B = 0.186), and school quality (B = 0.167) significantly influence parents’ decisions. Conversely, potential development (B = 0.017; p = 0.814) shows no significant effect. Trust significantly moderates the influence of potential development (B = 0.017; p = 0.013) but weakens the effect of school services (B = -0.022; p = 0.000). Religious values emerge as the most dominant factor. This research contributes theoretically by incorporating trust into the educational decision-making model, addressing a gap in studies on Integrated Islamic Schools. The results provide practical insights for schools to enhance their strategies and build stronger relationships with parents in supporting student development.

Abstract

Work stress in police personnel is one of the important factors influencing psychological well being and family dynamics, particularly marital commitment. This study aims to identify and analyze the relationship between work stress and marital commitment among Indonesian National Police personnel thru a systematic literature review (SLR) approach to recent national and international research. The study results indicate that work stress has an impact on reducing communication quality, causing role conflict, and increasing emotional tension in the marital relationships of police personnel. Work-family conflict is the main mediator in this relationship. While social support, flexible work policies, and individual coping strategies are important moderating factors in overcoming existing conditions. The limitations of the research found are primarily related to the dominance of quantitative studies, the limitations of the local Indonesian context, and the scarcity of longitudinal studies, which pose challenges for the development of effective interventions. This study recommends strengthening organizational and family support and developing policies responsive to the dynamics of work stress to improve resilience and the quality of marital commitment among police personnel. This finding is very important in efforts to strengthen understanding of the work-life balance in the police environment in order to support the professionalism and well-being of members and their families.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze how educational management develops a local wisdom-based curriculum as a strategy to improve learning quality. This study employs a multi-case qualitative design conducted in three public high schools in Aceh: SMA 1 banda Aceh, SMA 3 Banda Aceh, and SMA 1 Pidie. Data were collected from 20 participants, including school principals, teachers, students, and customary leaders, through semi-structured in-depth interviews, non-participant classroom observations, and analysis of curriculum-related documents such as syllabi, lesson plans, and school program records. Data were analyzed thematically using a systematic coding process involving open, axial, and selective coding to identify patterns across cases and construct conceptual categories. Findings show that local wisdom functions as strategic curriculum capital, strengthening institutional legitimacy, increasing student engagement in learning, and fostering a more solid moral and social identity. The integration of values such as hospitality ethics, collective solidarity, and customary norms not only enriches teaching materials but also builds collaborative governance between schools and communities. The professional transformation of teachers occurs through a shift in their role from material deliverers to designers of culturally based, contextually relevant curricula. This model results in increased learning relevance, active student participation, and community trust in schools. This study formulates a Strategic Cultural Curriculum Management model that positions local wisdom as a form of educational managerial capital. Its contribution broadens the discourse on curriculum management, educational governance, and learning quality in the global context.

Abstract

Human Resource Management (HRM) is a key element in determining the quality and sustainability of Islamic educational institutions amidst the challenges of globalization and digitalization. This study aims to analyze and explore the implementation of HRM practices in three different educational institutions: MAN 1 Surakarta, MAN 3 Sukabumi, and SDI Al Azhar Tulungagung. The method used is a comparative analysis of relevant previous research findings, focusing on the management cycle from planning to evaluation. The results of the analysis indicate that all three institutions have implemented management functions systematically through strategic planning as outlined in RKM/Renstra documents, recruitment that integrates professional competence with moral and religious standards, and staff placement based on the principle of the right man in the right place. Continuous professional development for teachers is conducted through formal training (workshops/MGMP) and cultural-spiritual guidance to maintain loyalty and work motivation. Specific findings show that in inclusive schools, HRM is optimized by recruiting specialized experts, such as psychologists or special education graduates, to ensure quality services for students with special needs. Overall, the synergy between professional management and the strengthening of Islamic values serves as the primary foundation for enhancing organizational performance and educational quality in Islamic institutions.

Abstract

This study examines the role conflict experienced by Islamic Education (PAI) teachers in Indonesian public schools, specifically the tension between administrative duties and core teaching responsibilities. Using a qualitative case study approach, this research explores how a PAI teacher navigates competing demands from both the Ministry of Religious Affairs and local education authorities. The findings reveal three primary forms of role conflict: time conflict, attentional conflict, and value conflict. Additionally, the study identifies coping strategies developed by the teacher, including task prioritization, technology utilization, social support networks, and work-life balance maintenance. This research argues that the bureaucratization of education has led to the deprofessionalization of PAI teachers, necessitating fundamental bureaucratic reform that includes administrative simplification, provision of administrative support staff, resolution of dual authority structures, and restoration of the teacher's primary role as an educator rather than an administrator
