Abstract

The main problem in this study is the low writing skills of fifth grade students of UPT SPF SD Inpres Pa’baeng-baeng, Makassar City. This study aims to improve students' writing skills through the application of the Paired Story Telling Cooperative Learning Model for Class V students of UPT SPF SD Inpres Pa'baeng-Baeng, Makassar City. This research method uses Classroom Action Research (CAR) with a qualitative approach. The subjects of the study were 17 teachers and students. Data collection techniques used were observation sheets, tests, and documentation. The results of the study showed that First, the teacher's teaching activities in cycle I, meeting I, were still in the low category and meeting II was in the medium category. Cycle II, meeting I was in the high category, and meeting II was in the very high category. Second, students' learning activities in cycle I, meetings I and II were in the low category. While in cycle II, meeting I was in the medium category, and meeting II was in the very high category. While in cycle II all students had obtained a completeness score according to the KKTP achieved. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the application of the paired story telling cooperative learning model can improve the narrative writing skills of grade V students of UPT SPF SD Inpres Pa'Baeng-Baeng Makassar City. Suggestions for further researchers can be used as references and to conduct research development according to the problems obtained.

Abstract

Abstract. Laikang District, with abundant marine resources, coastal communities, some of whom are Aisyiyah cadres in Laikang Village, whose economic background generally depends on marine products as their main source of income. However, facing a number of problems that hinder the existence of types of marine biota and by-products of marine activities, have not been fully utilized and only become waste that pollutes the coastal environment such as shells and fish scales. The solution is to implement a community service program (PKM) that focuses on utilizing marine biota waste through Eco-Craft Technical Training, Entrepreneurship Strengthening, Digital Marketing and Branding, Continuous Mentoring for Aisyiyah cadres. The method used is participatory-based service in every stage of research from planning to evaluation with data collection through surveys and questionnaires to understand the needs, problems, and potential that exist by the service team, and direct practice by the participants. This activity was attended by 10 participants who showed high enthusiasm during the training process. The evaluation results showed that participants had successfully mastered the Eco Craft making technique, and were able to produce products according to the standards taught. In addition to improving technical skills, this training also succeeded in fostering an understanding of the importance of Digital Marketing and Branding. The output of this PKM can raise the economic independence of Aisyiyah cadres and enrich the types of products from marine biota waste.Keywords: Eco-Craft, Coastal Women, Marine Waste, Economic Value Products

Abstract

This research is a type of quantitative research with a pre-experimental research design and a one-group pretest-posttest design that aims to determine students' beginning reading skills before and after the use of big book media. Data collection techniques were carried out using tests, observations, and documents. The data analysis techniques used were descriptive analysis and inferential analysis. Based on the results of descriptive statistics, it shows that students' beginning reading skills before using big book media obtained an average of 65.13 in the sufficient category, and their beginning reading skills after using big book media obtained an average of 87.20 in the excellent category. Based on the results of inferential statistics, the results obtained from tcount 5.630. Furthermore, compared with the t distribution table, for an error of 5% and dk = n-1 = 30-1 = 29, we obtained a value of 1.69913. The result of tcount is greater than ttable, so H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. So it can be concluded that the use of Big Book Media affects the beginning reading skills of grade II students at SD Negeri Lonrong, Gowa Regency.

Abstract

The problem addressed in this research is the lack of environmental concern among students at SD Inpres Parangbobbo. The study was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through observations and documentation. The results indicate that the implementation of the Project Based Learning model through Ecobrick making activities effectively enhances environmental awareness among fifth-grade students. This is evidenced by the improvement in both teacher activity, student learning activities and environmental awareness. In Cycle I (Meetings I and II), teacher activity was categorized as sufficient and good, with percentages of 57% and 71%, respectively. This improved in Cycle II (Meetings I and II) to a very good category at 85%. Meanwhile, in Cycle I (Meetings I and II), student learning activity was categorized as sufficient and good, with percentages of 68% and 73%, averaging 71%. This also improved in Cycle II (Meetings I and II) to good and very good categories, with percentages of 83% and 91%, averaging 87%. In Cycle I (Meetings I and II), the environmental awareness of the students was categorized as low and sufficient, with percentages of 53% and 70%, resulting in an average of 61%. This then improved in Cycle II (Meetings I and II), where it was categorized as good and very good, with percentages of 83% and 92%, resulting in an average of 87%.

Abstract

This study investigated the effects of environment-based learning on elementary students’ knowledge and environmental attitudes in science education. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design was employed. The participants consisted of 32 fifth-grade students at UPT SPF SD Negeri Kassi, Makassar, Indonesia, divided into an experimental group (n = 16) and a control group (n = 16). The experimental group received science instruction through an environment-based learning model, while the control group was taught using conventional learning methods. Data were collected through observation sheets, knowledge tests, and attitude questionnaires. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and independent sample t-tests. The findings revealed that the implementation of the environment-based learning model was conducted effectively, with observation scores increasing from the good to the very good category. Students in the experimental group demonstrated higher posttest scores in both knowledge and environmental attitudes compared to those in the control group. Statistical analysis showed significant differences between the two groups, indicating that the environment-based learning model positively influenced students’ learning outcomes. The findings suggest that integrating environmental contexts into science instruction enhances students’ conceptual understanding and promotes positive environmental attitudes. Therefore, environment-based learning can be considered an effective instructional approach for improving both cognitive and affective outcomes in elementary science education.

Abstract

Kebiasaan konsumsi makanan tidak sehat pada anak sekolah dasar menjadi salah satu permasalahan yang meningkat pada era Generasi Alpha. Paparan media digital dan tingginya konsumsi makanan instan menyebabkan siswa lebih tertarik mengonsumsi makanan tinggi gula, garam, dan lemak dibandingkan makanan bergizi seimbang. Hasil observasi awal di UPT SPF SD Negeri Layang III Kota Makassar menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar siswa masih memiliki kecenderungan mengonsumsi jajanan instan dan minuman manis tanpa mempertimbangkan kandungan gizi maupun dampaknya terhadap kesehatan. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan pemahaman dan membangun kebiasaan konsumsi makanan bergizi berbasis literasi sains pada siswa sekolah dasar. Kegiatan dilaksanakan pada siswa kelas IV dan V dengan jumlah peserta sebanyak 35 siswa. Metode yang digunakan meliputi ceramah interaktif, tanya jawab, dan diskusi menggunakan media visual berupa poster dan gambar makanan sehat. Evaluasi dilakukan melalui pre-test dan post-test berbasis framework literasi sains PISA 2025 yang mencakup domain kompetensi sains, pengetahuan sains, environmental science, dan identitas sains. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan skor rata-rata siswa dari 59,7 menjadi 85,7. Kegiatan ini efektif meningkatkan literasi sains siswa terkait konsumsi makanan bergizi dan perilaku hidup sehat. Kegiatan ini memberikan dampak positif terhadap peningkatan literasi sains siswa dalam memahami pentingnya konsumsi makanan bergizi serta mendukung pembentukan kebiasaan hidup sehat pada Generasi Alpha di sekolah dasar.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve the professional competence of elementary school teachers in Barru Regency in designing and implementing the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) learning model in Science subjects. Twenty-first-century learning requires teachers to integrate multiple disciplines to develop students’ critical, creative, collaborative, and communicative skills. However, in practice, elementary school teachers still face limitations in understanding and skills in implementing integrated STEAM-based learning. The implementation method for this community service uses a training and mentoring approach, including the socialization of STEAM concepts, workshops on developing STEAM-based science learning tools, teaching practice, and reflection and evaluation. The results of the activity indicate an improvement in teachers’ understanding of the STEAM concept and their ability to develop STEAM-based science learning tools. This activity is expected to contribute to improving the quality of science learning in elementary schools.

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to improve teachers’ digital competencies through interactive multimodal digital media training at SDN Aoeropala, Makassar City. The training involved 15 teachers from various grade levels. The activity was carried out through several stages, namely needs analysis, socialization, training, hands-on practice, mentoring, and evaluation. The needs analysis was conducted using the Mentimeter platform to identify teachers’ experiences in using digital media and the training needs required. The results of the analysis indicated that teachers still experienced limitations in developing interactive digital learning media, particularly in the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), educational game development, interactive flipbooks, and VR/AR-based media. The training was conducted intensively from morning until 4:00 PM (WITA) using a workshop-based hands-on method with various applications such as Canva AI, Padlet, Quizizz, Heyzine Flipbook, QR Code, and Augmented Reality (AR)-based Assembler Edu. In addition to face-to-face training, participants also received continuous mentoring through a WhatsApp group to support the independent development of learning media products. The results showed that the interactive multimodal digital media training was able to improve teachers’ understanding and skills in developing more creative, interactive, and innovative multimodal learning media. Teachers also demonstrated high enthusiasm in implementing educational technology and were able to produce digital media products as the final assignment of the training. Therefore, this activity is expected to support the development of an adaptive and sustainable digital learning culture in elementary schools.

Abstract

Sulawesi Selatan merupakan salah satu provinsi dengan tingkat kerawanan bencana tinggi, meliputi banjir, tanah longsor, gempa bumi, angin puting beliung, dan kebakaran permukiman. Kondisi ini berdampak pada keberlangsungan lembaga pendidikan, termasuk pesantren. Deskripsi  pelaksanaan program edukasi mitigasi bencana di Pondok Pesantren Puteri Ummul Mukminin ‘Aisyiyah Makassar  sebagai upaya peningkatan kesiapsiagaan warga pesantren terhadap risiko bencana. Kegiatan yang dilaksanakan pada 27 September 2025 ini meliputi empat tahapan: ceramah interaktif, simulasi evakuasi, diskusi partisipatif, dan penguatan nilai-nilai Islam. Hasilnya menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan, keterampilan, dan sikap santri terhadap kesiapsiagaan bencana. Kerjasama antara Dosen Universitas Negeri Makassar (UNM) dan Pimpinan Wilayah Aisyiyah  Sulawesi Selatan, Lembaga Lingkungan Hidup dan Penanggulangan Bencana (PWA Sulsel, LLHPB), Dinas Kebakaran Kota Makassar, serta partisipasi aktif warga pesantren menjadi faktor pendukung utama, sementara keterbatasan sarana dan kebutuhan pelatihan berkelanjutan menjadi tantangan. Secara keseluruhan, program ini efektif dalam menumbuhkan budaya siaga bencana dan berpotensi direplikasi di lembaga pendidikan lain di wilayah rawan bencana. Kata Kunci: Mitigasi Bencana, Pesantren, Kesiapsiagaan, Edukasi, LLHPB, PWA, Lingkungan.
