Abstract

This study was a Quasi Experimental study that aims (1) to describe students' critical thinking abilities through the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model of class V Elementary School Cluster 1, Bajeng District, Gowa Regency, (2) to describe students' descriptive writing abilities through the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model of class V Elementary School Cluster 1, Bajeng District, Gowa Regency, (3) to determine the differences between the PBL model and the PjBL model in improving critical thinking abilities and descriptive writing results of class V students of Elementary School Cluster 1, Bajeng District, Gowa Regency. The population in this study were students of grade V of SD Gugus 1 Bajeng District, Gowa Regency and the sample in this study were students of grade Va SD Negeri Panciro and grade Vb SD Negeri Panciro, each class consisting of 23 students. Data collection techniques used in this study were observation, learning outcome tests, and documentation. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential analysis. The results of the descriptive analysis showed that critical thinking skills increased through the PBL learning model, this was supported by the results of the average posttest score reaching 87.65. While the ability to write descriptions also increased using the PjBL model, this was supported by the posttest score reaching 83.48. In the inferential results using the Independent Sample t-Test hypothesis test in the pretest experimental class 1 and 2 showed a probability value of 0.001 <significant level of 0.05 and Tcount of -11,532 and in the posttest experimental class 1 and 2 the probability value was 0.01 <significant level of 0.05 and Tcount -12,999 so it can be concluded that there is a significant difference between the PBL model and the PjBL model on critical thinking skills and descriptive writing results of class V students in Cluster 1, Bajeng District, Gowa Regency.

Abstract

Nurul Islam Grand Mosque, recognized as the first and oldest grand mosque in Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan, is distinguished primarily by its extensive Qur’anic calligraphy that adorns nearly the entire interior, including the walls and ceiling. This study investigates the functional reception of the calligraphy, focusing on the selection of specific Qur’anic verses and the rationale behind their inclusion. Employing a qualitative methodology with a descriptive-analytical approach, the research is grounded in Qur’anic reception theory, particularly the concept of functional reception. Data were collected through fieldwork involving observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that the verses featured in the mosque are those frequently recited and memorized by Muslims in daily practice, such as Surah Yāsīn, Al-Wāqi‘ah, and Al-Mulk. The functional reception is manifested in the curatorial decision to present these verses as calligraphy, thereby enabling visitors to engage with the surahs or verses without the need to consult a mushaf, in addition to serving an ornamental purpose. Furthermore, the calligraphy contributes to the mosque’s unique aesthetic identity, distinguishing it from other mosques. However, issues related to the legibility of certain calligraphic elements have elicited criticism, suggesting that the mosque’s administration should address these concerns appropriately.Abstrak: Masjid Raya Nurul Islam merupakan masjid raya pertama sekaligus tertua di Palangka Raya, Kalimantan Tengah. Keunikan utamanya terletak pada hampir seluruh bagian interior yang dihiasi kaligrafi Al-Qur’an, mulai dari dinding hingga plafon. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menelaah bagaimana resepsi fungsional terhadap kaligrafi tersebut, ayat-ayat apa yang dipilih, serta alasan pemilihan ayat. Metode yang digunakan ialah kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif-analitis, berlandaskan teori resepsi Al-Qur’an, khususnya resepsi fungsional. Riset ini bersifat lapangan dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa ayat yang ditampilkan pada Masjid Raya Nurul Islam adalah ayat-ayat yang umum dibaca dan dihapal oleh umat Islam sehari-hari seperti QS. Yasin, QS. al-Waqi’ah, QS. al-Mulk dan lain-lain. Adapun bentuk resepsi fungsional kaligrafi Al-Qur’an terlihat pada pemilihan ayat yang dituliskan menjadi kaligrafi di Masjid Raya Nurul Islam, di mana ayat-ayat yang dituliskan selain dijadikan hiasan juga memudahkan pengunjung yang ingin membaca surah-surah atau ayat-ayat Al-Qur’an tanpa harus mencari di dalam Al-Qur’an. Selain itu, dengan kaligrafi tersebut Masjid Raya Nurul Islam memilki daya tarik tersendiri yang membedakannya dengan masjid lain. Di sisi lain, keberadaan tulisan yang kurang terbaca memunculkan kritik yang patut dicermati oleh pengurus masjid.

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas tentang faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi keaktifan siswa dalam pembelajaran IPA di kelas V SDN 8 Limboto kabupaten Gorontalo. Adapun yang menjadi tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi keaktifan siswa dalam pembelajaran IPA di kelas V SDN 8 Limboto Kabupaten Gorontalo. Metode Penelitian ini menggunakan Jenis Penelitian Kualitatif Deskriptif. Dimana data yang dikumpulkan diperoleh melalui data primer dan sekunder, dengan teknik penggumpulan data yaitu menggunakan teknik observasi dan wawancara serta dokumentasi secara mendalam terhadap informan. Teknik pengelolaan dan analisis data ini menggunakan reduksi data, display data atau penyajian serta mengambil kesimpulan. Pengujian keabsahan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan trianggulasi sumber dan trianggulasi tehnik. Hasil Penelitian ini ialah faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi keaktifan siswa dalam pembelajaran IPA di kelas V SDN 8 Limboto Kabupaten Gorontalo yaitu terdapat faktor internal dan faktor eksternal. Faktor internal terbagi menjadi faktor fisiologi dan faktor psikologi yang meliputi perhatian, tanggapan, ingatan, minat serta motivasi. Selanjutnya faktor eksternal terbagi menjadi faktor sosial yang meliputi keluarga, guru serta teman sebaya dan faktor non-sosial meliputi ruangan kelas, fasilitas belajar serta media dan metode pembelajaran.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the prototype, validity, practicality, and effectiveness in the development of interactive multimedia based on educational game applications to improve Indonesian learning in grade V elementary school students. This research was carried out at UPTD SD Negeri 79 Barru with a trial involving 21 students. The method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the Alessi & Trollip development model. The results of this media development prototype research present material not only in the form of text, but also through learning videos, relevant videos, and equipped with interactive quizzes to test students' understanding, so that learning becomes more interesting and interactive. The results of media validation are in the very valid category based on the Gregory test, with a reliability value of 1, as well as materials that also obtain a reliability value of 1. This learning media is practically used in the learning process, based on the results of observations with an average score of 1.00 (implemented category), teacher response questionnaires with an average of 1.00 (implemented categories), and student response questionnaires with an average of 0.99 (implemented categories), so that the total average practicality reaches 0.99%. The effectiveness of the media can be seen from the results of the pretest and posttest scores on the test, where all students achieved learning completeness, proving that this media is effective. This shows that there is an improvement in Indonesian learning outcomes through the use of interactive multimedia based on educational game applications.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mendeskripsikan kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik yang diajar menggunakan model pembelajaran Real Quest Outdoor Learning (ReQOL) di kelas X SMAN 13 Makassar, (2) mendeskripsikan kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik yang diajar menggunakan model pembelajaran konvensional di kelas X SMAN 13 Makassar, (3) menganalisis perbedaan kemampuan berpikir kritis antara peserta didik yang diajar menggunakan model pembelajaran Real Quest Outdoor Learning (ReQOL) dan model pembelajaran konvensional di kelas X SMAN 13 Makassar. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain penelitian Non-Equivalent Control-Group Design. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah seluruh kelas X di SMAN 13 Makassar yang berjumlah 175 orang dan tersebar dalam 5 kelas. Sampel pada penelitian terdiri dari 2 kelas yang diperoleh menggunakan teknik pengambilan sampel yaitu one step matching sampling. Kelas yang menjadi sampel adalah kelas X5 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas X6 sebagai kelas kontrol. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah tes kemampuan berpikir kritis berupa soal pilihan ganda sebanyak 20 nomor. Adapun teknik analisis yang digunakan yaitu analisis deskriptif, analisis inferensial dan pengujian hipotesis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik yang diajar menggunakan model pembelajaran Real Quest Outdoor Learning (ReQOL) memperoleh nilai rata-rata 70,86. Kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik yang diajar menggunakan model pembelajaran konvensional memperoleh nilai rata-rata 66,95. Terdapat perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis antara peserta didik yang diajar menggunakan model pembelajaran Real Quest Outdoor Learning (ReQOL) dan peserta didik yang diajar menggunakan model pembelajaran konvensional. Peserta didik yang diajar menggunakan model pembelajaran Real Quest Outdoor Learning (ReQOL) berada pada kategori tinggi dan peserta didik yang diajar menggunakan model pembelajaran konvensional berada pada kategori sedang.

Abstract

General Background: Improving reading comprehension among elementary students remains a significant educational goal, particularly in adapting learning methods to digital media. Specific Background: In rural or under-resourced settings like SD Negeri 78 Bakke, Soppeng Regency, integrating technology such as Canva can offer innovative pedagogical solutions. Knowledge Gap: While digital learning tools are widespread, studies on Canva-based educational games specifically targeting reading comprehension in younger learners are limited. Aims: This study aims to develop and evaluate a Canva-based educational game media for fifth-grade students to enhance reading comprehension skills through the Four-D (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate) R&D model. Results: The resulting media achieved a validity score of 97% by expert judgment, a practicality score of 95.83% from implementation observations, and high response ratings from both teachers (91.66%) and students (96%). It was also deemed effective, as shown by improved scores from Trial I (35–65 to 75–95) and Trial II (35–80 to 75–100). Novelty: This research introduces a validated and gamified Canva-based media for reading, a novel approach in Indonesian elementary contexts. Implications: The findings suggest that integrating design-based educational games in classroom practice can effectively improve literacy outcomes and student engagement. Highlights: Enhances reading skills using Canva-based games. Proven valid, practical, and effective through trials. Innovative approach for engaging elementary learners. Abstract

This study aims to examine the semantic functions of the regional particles mi, ji, and pi in social media communication within South Sulawesi. These particles frequently appear in posts, comments, and informal conversations across digital platforms such as Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), and TikTok. The research employs a qualitative approach using a descriptive-analytical method. Data were collected through documentation techniques by compiling user posts and comments that actively utilized these particles. The analysis was conducted interpretively to identify the meanings, semantic roles, and pragmatic aspects associated with the usage of each particle. The findings reveal that mi, ji, and pi serve various semantic functions, including assertion, emotional marking, and meaning reinforcement. These particles do not merely function grammatically; they also carry social and cultural significance, reflecting the speaker’s identity, particularly among communities in South Sulawesi. The use of these particles is strongly influenced by the user’s social context, interpersonal relationships, and the informal, community-based nature of digital communication. In the realm of social media, these elements enhance personal expression and foster a sense of belonging among users who share similar cultural backgrounds. This study highlights the importance of understanding regional language dynamics within the context of modern digital communication. Therefore, further research is recommended, particularly in the areas of pragmatics, sociolinguistics, and cross-platform language use, to deepen insights into how local languages adapt to and function in contemporary discourse. Moreover, integrating knowledge about these particles into language education and the development of digital learning materials is encouraged. Such efforts could contribute to preserving local languages while simultaneously improving linguistic literacy among the public—especially the younger generation—in today’s digital era. This not only promotes cultural recognition but also reinforces the value of indigenous linguistic identity in the evolving landscape of online communication.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the differences in students’ learning outcomes in the IPAS subject taught using PowerPoint media and image media in Grade IV of SD Negeri Samata, Gowa Regency. The study employed a quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design. The research population consisted of all 73 fourth-grade students, with a sample of 48 students selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using learning outcome tests and documentation, then analyzed descriptively. The average learning outcome of students taught using PowerPoint media was 76.13, which falls into the “good” category, while the average score of students taught using image media was 74.38, also categorized as “good.” The results of the analysis using the non-parametric Mann-Whitney U test showed an Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.66 > 0.05, indicating that there was no significant difference between the two groups. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that both PowerPoint media and image media are equally effective in supporting students’ learning outcomes in the IPAS subject for Grade IV.

Abstract

Learning materials and exercises in mathematics textbooks play a crucial role, where the materials develop students’ knowledge, while the exercises serve as evaluation tools to measure their understanding. This study aims to identify errors in the presentation of materials based on four mathematical objects and to analyze the cognitive levels of exercises in the topic of Linear Equations from the Grade VIII SMP/MTs mathematics textbook, Curriculum 2013 revision 2017 published by the Ministry of Education and Culture. The research employed a qualitative descriptive method with documentation techniques. The subjects consisted of the materials and exercises from the selected topic, while data analysis was carried out through data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed one factual error and five operational errors, while no conceptual or principle errors were found. The cognitive levels of the exercises were fairly varied, covering LOTS, MOTS, and HOTS. Specifically, there were 3 items at the remembering level (C1/LOTS), 55 at understanding (C2), 23 at applying (C3/MOTS), and 3 at analyzing (C4/HOTS). However, items at the evaluating (C5) and creating (C6) levels were not present. Overall, the exercises were sufficiently varied but unevenly distributed, with a limited number of higher-order thinking items. The implication of this study highlights the need for continuous improvement of mathematics textbooks to ensure more accurate content, a balanced distribution of cognitive levels, and the enhancement of mathematics learning quality as well as overall educational standards in Indonesia.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengklasifikasikan bunyi leksikon di wilayah dataran tinggi dan dataran rendah untuk mengetahui perbedaan bunyi leksikon pada penutur masyarakat Gowa yang ada di wilayah dataran tinggi dan dataran rendah dengan mengkaji perbedaan kosakata. Penelitian ini dianalisis tentang leksikon berwujud kata monomorfemis kata monomorfemis yang terdiri atas afiksasi (prefiks, konfiksasi, morfem bebas, dan reduplikasi), leksikon berwujud kata polimorfemis (afiksasi (imbuhan), reduplikasi (pengulangan) dan Leksikon kata struktur frasa (nominal, verbal, dan adjektiva). Berdasarkan data yang diperoleh oleh peneliti bunyi leksikon rumah dan bagianbagiannya terdapat 48 bunyi leksikon, peralatan dan perlengkapan terdapat 44 bunyi leksikon, makanan dan minuman terdiri dari 38 bunyi leksikon, tumbuhtumbuhan,bagian buah, dan hasil olahannya 76 bunyi leksikon, binatang dan bagianbagiannya 59, penyakit 29 bunyi leksikon, leksikon struktur frasa (frasa nominal) 21 bunyi leksikon, (frasa verbal) 18 bunyi leksikon, (frasa adjektiva) 24 bunyi leksikon yang dibagi atas 4 wilayah yaitu dataran tinggi (Parangloe dan Manuju) dan dataran rendah (Pallangga dan Bontonompo).
