Abstract

The prevalence and death due to low birth weight (LBW) is still high in Kupang. There are multifactorial causes of LBW which can be categorized into: physical and social environment, mother, fetus, placenta and umbilical cord, and health service. From maternal factors, there are sub-factors of maternal characteristic such as knowledge of pregnancy, maternal health status, and the behavior of pregnancy care. The behavior of pregnancy care can be in the form of a traditional pregnancy care, which may lead to LBW. Most researches on the risk factor of LBW are related to clinical medical factors. This research aimed to determine the socio-demographic and cultural factors which are related to the occurrence of LBW in Kupang. This research used analytic observational method with case-control design, on 50 mothers giving birth to LBW and 50 mothers who delivered normal babies, through interview and tracing of maternal and infant medical records. To eliminate the clinical factors of medical causes of LBW (anemia, hypertension, pre-eclampsia, and infection), inclusion criterion was applied, as follows: mothers who give birth to normal childbirth, single infants, and have received integrated Antenatal Care (ANC) service. Exclusion criteria were: mothers give birth to twisted umbilical cord, placental weight <500 grams, infant with congenital defect, and incomplete medical records. This research took place at Prof. DR. W.Z. Johannes Hospital, Dedari Hospital and 2 Public Health Center in Kupang. Data analysis used logistic regression. The final results of logistic regression model of this study founded 5 variables that affect the occurrence of LBW in Kupang, beside the medical clinical factors, such as: maternal age, maternal education, BMI, increase the body weight during pregnancy, and heavy work during pregnancy. Abstract

Nutritious food giving in under-fives to sustain the growth and development of under-fives optimally required the involvement of family members other than fathers. The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between family members' involvement with the mother's nutrition care pattern of poor families in the Mojokerto regency of East Java. This research design was using case control with case population of poor mother with healthy under-five and control population was poor mother with nutritious problem child. Number of case group samples 79 people and control group 41 people. Sampling technique with multi stage sampling. Data collection using questionnaires that have been tested the validity and reliability to 30 people. Data analysis using chi square statistic test. The results showed that the involvement of other family members in the positive deviance mothers was good as much as 35 people (44.30%). In non-positive mother deviance involvement of most other family members were less than 31 people (75.61%), chi square obtained p = 0,000 and value α = 0,05, meaning there was correlation of family member involvement with care pattern of positive deviance mother. The involvement of family members motivated mothers to provide a good nutritional food to under-five children. Keywords: Positive deviance, Under five children, Care pattern, Nutrition

Abstract

Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) is still a problem in Indonesia. TTS Regency is one of the districts in NTT province with high MMR. Efforts through PWS-KIA include a system of recording and reporting of maternal health services into one of the important strategies in suppressing MMR. The problem is that data management is still done conventionally. With the manual process of course many problems arise in the management process in the work unit. Information technology support is more advanced, conventional data management ways can be replaced with information systems using a computer. Data management also becomes faster and easier to obtain accurate data to use as a basis for decision making in the prevention of health problems. The purpose of this research is to develop a database of maternal health services in TTS District Health Office to assist midwives in managing data on maternal health services at health care center. Activities undertaken in the development of this database include identification of ongoing recording and reporting systems, identification of data and information needs, database design, testing and evaluation. The database is developed using PHP-MySQL web-based applications. In carrying out the data base it is necessary to support the power to operate the data base, facilities with sufficient specification, increase the capacity of personnel regarding the database developed. Keywords: Database, Recording and Reporting System of Maternal Health Services

Abstract

Prevalence and mortality due to low birth weight (LBW) is still get a mark in Kupang. The multifactorial causes of LBW, can be grouped into these factors: physical and social environment, mother, fetus, placenta-umbilical cord, and health services. From maternal factors, there are subfactors of maternal characteristics, knowledge of pregnancy, maternal health status, and behavior in caring the pregnancy. Maternal behavior may be in the form of obedience in traditional pregnancy care, which may lead to LBW. Most studies on LBW risk factors are related to clinical medical factors. The purpose of this study was to predict the role of fetal health locus of control and obedience in traditional pregnancy care, toward LBW occurrence. This study was an analitic observational with case-control design, included 50 mothers who gave birth to LBW and 50 mothers who gave birth to normal babies, through interviews and tracing of maternal and infant medical records. Research was done in RSUD Prof. DR. W.Z. Johannes, RSIA Dedari and 2 basic emergency obstetric and newborn care (BEmONC) public health center. Data analysis done using SmartPLS 3.2.6. The results of the study proved that obedience to traditional pregnancy care was a mediator of the occurrence of LBW, whereas fetal health locus of control was not. Obedience to traditional pregnancy care in the form of non-standardize antenatal care and continued heavy workload during pregnancy, had been shown to cause LBW. This research also found 2 pathway models of LBW occurence: 1) Mother's characteristic (education level, mother's income, total of family income) influence to LBW occurence through variables: pregnancy knowledge, perceived behavioral control, and obedience to traditional pregnancy care. 2) Maternal characteristics have an effect on the occurence of LBW through obedience to traditional pregnancy care. Keywords: Low birth weight, Obedience, Traditional pregnancy care, Fetal health locus of control

Abstract

One method used in the multiple linear regression model is the best subset using Cp Mallows statistics. The best subset begins by combining independent variables to describe the dependent variable. Select a combination with a high coefficient of determination and a low Cp value. The purpose of this study was to apply the best subset method of Cp Mallows statistics to obtain multiple linear regression models of factors that affect life expectancy. This survey was a secondary data survey using data from Health Profiles published in 2016 in East Java. Data from 38 cities with dependent variables were life expectancy and independent variables such as diarrhea prevalence, dengue prevalence, healthy homes, clean and healthy living behavior, and average school hours. The results showed that the coefficient of determination was 69.7% and the Cp value was 3.9 for the three combinations of diarrhea prevalence, healthy family, and average school hours.  Keywords: life expectancy; subset best method; regression; Cp Mallows

Abstract

Low back pain is a crucial public health problem that is commonly associated with intervertebral disc de‐ generation and has vast socio‐economic impact worldwide. Current treatments for disc degeneration are conservative, non‐surgical, or surgical interventions, and there is no current clinical therapy aimed at directly reversing the degeneration. Given the limited capacity of intervertebral disc (IVD) cells to self‐repair, treatment aiming to regenerate IVDs is a topic of interest and mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have been identified as having potential in this regeneration. Recent studies have revealed that the benefits of MSC therapy could result from the molecules the cells secrete and that play principal roles in regulating essential biologic processes, rather than from the implanted cells themselves. Therefore, the objective of this study is to review the potential use of the MSC secretome to regenerate IVDs. Current evidence shows that the secretome may regenerate IVDs by modulating the gene expressions of nucleus pulposus cells (upregulation of keratin 19 and downregulation of matrix metalloproteinase 12 and matrix Gla protein) and stimulating IVD progenitor cells to repair the degenerated disc.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to apply cox regression to factor analysis of stroke recurrence rate. This type of research was applied research on secondary data. The samples were 178 first stroke patients who are enrolled in inpatient period January to December 2011 and then made observations on the incidence of recurrent strokes up in February 2017 in medical record. Analysis techniques using Cox regression analysis on risk factors of stroke recurrence rate in RSAU dr. Esnawan Antariksa Halim Perdana Kusumah Jakarta. The analysis exhibited that the rate of recurrence of stroke has the same risk between categories of obesity. Stroke patients with a history of hypertension had a risk of a stroke recurrence rate of 5.594 times more likely than stroke patients with no history of hypertension, stroke patients with a history of diabetes mellitus had a risk of stroke recurrence rate of 1.912 times more likely than stroke patients with no history of diabetes mellitus, stroke patients with a history of dyslipidemia The risk of a recurrence rate of stroke was 2.153 times more likely than stroke patients without a history of dyslipidemia, and stroke patients with a history of heart abnormalities had a risk of recurrent stroke rates of 2.321 times more likely than stroke patients without a history of heart abnormalities. For stroke patients with a history of hypertension, diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia and a history of cardiac abnormalities, need to do regular check-ups and controls every month to avoid recurrence of stroke.

Abstract

There are internal factors and external factor affect to adolescent premarital sex. There were 60% adolescent who have imagine sexual intercourse, and 50% adolescent have access porn sites on the internet, and 40% adolescent have negative effect of sexual attitude from environment. This research was an analytic research that used cross sectional study and use quantitative approaches derived from primary data by disseminated a questionnaire. The population were students from grade X and XI 10th Vocational High Schools State Of Surabaya. Sample was taken with simple random sampling about 89 students. Data analyze this research used Spearman Correlate Coefficient test . Variables in this research was media exposure of pornography  and peer behavior effect. There were correlate between them. Variables “peer behavior effect from friend” has association with premarital sexual behavior, media exposure of pornography also has association too (p = 0.000). Cooperation between school, parent  and government institution must regulate the education system about reproductive health for students especially about premarital sexual behavior for teens. Parent should give more intention  to maintain good relations and monitored their children.
