Abstract

Abstract

Ancient Near Eastern poetry has a different style from poetry known in Indonesia. One distinctive style of Semitic poetry is the style known as Parallelismus Membrorum. Among this type of parallelism, there is a very distinctive style of Parallelism, which in the mid-20th century was known as Janus parallelism. This paper reviews some of the Janus Parallelism in one of the Hebrew books, the book of the prophet Habakkuk, chapter 3. This paper uses a method of structure and semantics analysis of poetry. By knowing this type of Janus Parallelism, it is expected that translators of Hebrew poetry, in particular, and Semitic poetry, in general, should be careful because it turns out that in Semitic poetry, there is a literary style of this Semitic poem.

Abstract

Scoring quality has been recognized as one of the important aspects that should be of concern to both test developers and users. This study aimed to investigate the effect of scoring correction and model fit on the estimation of ability parameters and person fit in the polytomous item response theory. The result of 165 students in the Statistics course (SATS4410) test at one of the universities in Indonesia was used to answer the problems in this study. The polytomous data obtained from scoring the test results were analyzed using the Item Response Theory (IRT) approach with the Partial Credit Model (PCM), Graded Response Model (GRM), and Generalized Partial Credit Model (GPCM). The effect of scoring correction and model fit on the estimation of ability and person fit was tested using multivariate analysis. Among the three models used, GRM showed the best fit based on p-value and RSMEA. The results of the analysis also showed that there was no significant effect of scoring correction and model fit on the estimation of the test taker's ability and person fit. From the results of this study, we recommend the importance of evaluating the levels or categories used in scoring student work on a test.

Abstract

Three popular models are used to describe the characteristics of the test items and estimate the ability of examinees under the dichotomous IRT model, namely the one-, two-, and three-parameter logistic models. The three-item parameters are discriminating power, difficulty, and pseudo-guessing. In the development of the dichotomous IRT model, carelessness or upper asymptote parameter was proposed, which forms a four-parameter logistic (4PL) model to accommodate a condition where a high-ability examinee gives an incorrect response to a test item when he/she should be able to respond to the test item correctly. However, the carelessness parameter and the 4PL model have not been widely accepted and used due to several factors, and people's understanding of that parameter and strategies for estimating it is still inadequate. Therefore, this study aims to shed light on ideas underlying the 4PL model, the meaning of the carelessness parameter, and strategies used to estimate that parameter based on the extant literature. The focus of this study was then extended to demonstrating practical examples of estimating item and person parameters using the 4PL model using empirical data on responses of 1,000 students from the Indonesia Open University (Universitas Terbuka) on 21 of 30 multiple-choice items on the Business English test, a paper-and-pencil test. We mainly analyzed empirical data using the "˜mirt' package in RStudio. We present the analysis results coherently so that IRT users would have a sufficient understanding of the 4PL model and the carelessness parameter, and they can estimate item and person parameters under the 4PL model.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research is a quantitative study with an explanatory approach, namely an approach that uses previous studies as the main basis for obtaining novelty and is developed in the research being conducted. The data used in this study are secondary data from various credible sources, namely the Central Statistics Agency from 2010 to 2024. The data were analyzed using the smart PLS 4.0 analysis tool. The result in this article show the two hypotheses proposed in this article, namely the Human Development Index variable can have a positive relationship direction and a significant influence on Economic Growth can be accepted and proven. This is because the P-Values are positive and below the significance level of 0.05, namely 0.009. The reason for these results is that the Human Development Index which is influenced by Health and Education Levels can have a good, positive, and significant impact on Economic Growth. On this basis, it can be concluded that the first hypothesis in this article can be accepted. In the next section, the researcher also has another hypothesis, namely that the Population Size variable can moderate the influence of the Human Development Index variable on Economic Growth because of the same thing, namely the P-Values are positive and below the significance level of 0.05, which is 0.000 more significant than direct testing of 0.009. Thus, the first and second hypotheses in this article can be accepted. Keywords: Population Size, Human Development Index, Economic Growth

Abstract

This study aims to examine the co-occurrence of several topics linked to factors that influence student learning success and explore the motor themes related to factors that influence student learning success. This study used the literature review method with data analysis using R Studio and VOSViewer software. Data analyzed were exported from the Scopus website from 2013 to 2023 of 383 documents. The research data analysis techniques used network mapping analysis of VOSviewer results (network visualization) and content analysis within the keywords and studies. The findings of this study presented the keywords (most frequent words, trending topics), co-occurrence network (thematic map and thematic evolution), and discussion of topics related to factors that influence student learning success. The basic themes identified were higher education and Covid-19. Meanwhile, gender and self-efficacy are motor themes that could be researched further as those can influence student learning performance in online learning. The findings of the bibliometric analysis were intended to reveal unique insights into the factors that determine student learning performance in distant learning and contribute to previously unexplored issues.

Abstract

The authors were keen to explore the dynamics of stress or anxiety towards the eating behavior of rats. Female non-obese rats (Rattus norvegicus, N=10)), weighing each between 180-220 mg and aged 3-4 mo were divided into a control and an experimental group. After 3 days of “domestication time” to get the baseline data, the experimental group were exposed to a hungry cat outside their cages in the experimental room, during 3 consecutive days and nights. A camera was used to help continuous observation. Data were analysed with the Wilcoxon and U-Man Whitney statistical technique. Results reveal that anxiety affects the eating pattern of the experimental group, though only on day 1.

Abstract

This research is driven by the urgent need to produce university graduates who are not only scientifically competent but also creative and possess a strong appreciation for local wisdom, aligning with the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision and the National Research Master Plan's focus on local knowledge. A preliminary problem analysis identified a gap: the absence of ethnoscience-based STEM (Ethno-STEM) teaching materials specifically designed for university students to enhance their appreciation of local wisdom and creativity. This study aims to analyze the need for Ethno-STEM course materials, which will subsequently be developed into a valid, practical, and effective product. A descriptive mixed-methods approach was employed. Data were collected through document analysis of the semester learning plan, a questionnaire administered to 25 students, and semi-structured interviews with 4 science course lecturers. The results indicate that: (1) The document analysis of the STEM course semester learning plan at UNISLA explicitly mandates the integration of local wisdom and ethnoscience in its learning outcomes. (2) The questionnaire results show that an average of 88% of students expressed a high need for Ethno-STEM teaching materials to improve four key aspects: appreciation of local wisdom, creativity, learning interest, and conceptual understanding. (3) Lecturers confirmed difficulties in finding ready-to-use, structured teaching resources to support the Ethno-STEM project-based learning. The novelty of this study lies in its specific mapping of needs, providing an empirical justification for developing Ethno-STEM teaching materials at the higher education level. It is concluded that there is a valid and urgent need to develop systematic Ethno-STEM teaching materials to support curriculum implementation and enhance the quality of learning in the Science Education Program at UNISLA.

Abstract

Happiness is the goal of life that everyone desires. Happy people can be careful in their decision-making, actions, and efforts to achieve happiness itself. Tarekat is a spiritual organization with specific methods as a form of practicing Sufism teachings that have a healing dimension. The Sufi healing dimension in this tarekat focuses on healing the soul so that Sufi practitioners can improve their mental well-being through the teachings of zuhud, tawakal, khauf, and mahabbah. The purpose of this study is to examine the dimension of Sufi healing in the teachings of the Alawiyah Order based on Al-Ghazali's Sufi perspective. This study uses a literature review approach by collecting various literature through searches based on relevant discussions in research, ranging from books to articles; literature processing; filtering; combining and drawing relevant conclusions. This research shows that conceptually produces a psychological concept that connects the basic principles of the teachings of the Alawiyah Tarekat and the framework of Al-Ghazali's Sufism with the path of Sufi healing in the modern era. Modern psychological and scientific concepts that have been developed include preventing distorted thinking that causes stress, righteous deeds driven by increased productivity and happiness, motivation for self-improvement and repentance, generating positive energy, and being able to make wise decisions through self-awareness.
