Abstract

ABSTRACTBackground: 1Stunting is a condition of growth failure in children due to chronic nutrient deficiencies for a long time, especially during the first 1000 days of life. The results of the Indonesian Nutrition Status Survey (SSGI) also showed a decrease in the stunting rate from 27.7% in 2019 to 21.6% in 2023. The 2022 SSGI data recorded that 18.7% of children in Bogor Regency were still stunted. The current reduction in stunting is still far from the target of the 2020-2024 National Medium-Term Development Plan, where the number of stunted children in Indonesia is only 14%. Children are classified as stunted if the length/height z-score-for-age is <-2 SD. Stunting can occur due to poor gastrointestinal conditions. Prebiotics and probiotics play an important role in helping to maintain gastrointestinal health. Objective: The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between the consumption of prebiotic and probiotic food sources and the z-score of height/length for age. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study included 100 children aged 6-59 months in the stunting locus village of Bogor Regency. Height/length data were obtained using a stadiometer and infantometer. Assessment of food consumption of prebiotic and probiotic sources was conducted through interviews using the Semi Quantitative-Food Frequency Questionnaire form. Bivariate test used Pearson correlation test and multivariate test used multiple linear regression test.Results: The data showed that 48% of children were stunted, and 52% were normal. Bivariate test showed correlations of food consumption of prebiotic sources (r =0.274, p=0.006) and probiotics (r=0.264, p=0.008) with height/length z-score. Multivariate test results showed that consumption of prebiotic sources influenced length/height z-score for age (β=0.007, 95%CI: 0.002-0.011, p=0.003). Conclusion: Consumption of prebiotic food sources in children can improve the z-score of height-for-age.Keywords : Consumption; height; probiotics; prebiotics; stunting

Abstract

Background of study: The main factor behind this research is the changing characteristics and learning style needs of Generation Alpha, today's kindergarten students. To create a fun, meaningful, and conscious learning environment, schools and teachers must incorporate digital technologies such as smart TVs or interactive large screen panels into their learning processes. Video-assisted learning (VAL) is considered attractive because it can make learning easier for kindergarten-aged children to understand and enjoy.Aims: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of conventional lectures compared to video-assisted learning in improving student learning outcomes at Perjuangan Kindergarten in Bengkulu City.Methods: This study used an experimental method with a sample of fifteen students from Class B1 and fifteen students from Class B2, each of whom received different treatments. Pre-tests and post-tests with pictures tailored to aspects of child development were used to assess learning outcomes. To conclude the effectiveness of the two methods, the data were tested with N-Gain scores using SPSS.Result: Students in classes taught using the VAL method obtained an N-Gain score of 68.5%, indicating that this method is quite effective in improving their learning outcomes. Students in classes taught using the lecture method only obtained an N-Gain score of 26.9%, indicating that this method is not effective in improving student learning outcomes. This study shows a significant difference between the two methods.Conclusion: This study concluded that the Video Assisted Learning method was more effective in improving student learning outcomes than the lecture method.

Abstract

The spread of hoax news among the elderly in Indonesia has been increasing due to the ease of access to information on the internet, where many elderly individuals still lack the necessary skills to filter the information they receive. Digital literacy plays a crucial role in addressing this issue, as it helps the elderly develop critical thinking skills to assess the credibility of news before sharing it. This study aims to evaluate the role of digital literacy in assisting the elderly in identifying misinformation and exploring supporting technologies in the verification process, enabling them to be more independent in filtering circulating news. This research employs the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method to analyze various academic literature relevant to the research topic from 2014 to 2024, focusing on strategies to enhance digital literacy and the effectiveness of technology in helping the elderly recognize hoax news. The findings indicate that elderly individuals with strong digital skills are more capable of distinguishing accurate information and tend to be more cautious before sharing news with others, while technologies such as chatbots on social media can serve as effective tools for quickly and easily verifying information. Therefore, improving digital literacy through educational approaches and utilizing artificial intelligence-based technology is a crucial step in combating hoaxes in the digital era while enhancing the quality of information consumption among the elderly.

Abstract

ABSTRAK             Perkembangan  teknologi digital tidak hanya membawa kemudahan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, tetapi juga memunculkan tantangan baru berupa maraknya praktik judi online dan pinjaman online ilegal (pinjol). Fenomena ini berdampak pada aspek psikologis, sosial, dan ekonomi masyarakat, terutama memicu stres, kecemasan, konflik keluarga, hingga kerugian finansial. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur tingkat pemahaman masyarakat Dusun Gentingan, Desa Sidoagung, Kecamatan Godean, mengenai bahaya judi online dan pinjol melalui pendekatan quasi-experiment dengan desain One-Group Pretest-Posttest. Sebanyak 25 peserta dilibatkan sebagai subjek penelitian. Instrumen berupa pretest dan posttest dengan 7 butir soal diberikan sebelum dan sesudah kegiatan penyuluhan. Analisis data menggunakan metode statistik deskriptif dengan Penilaian Acuan Patokan (PAP).            Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman masyarakat setelah penyuluhan. Nilai rata-rata pretest sebesar 66,29 meningkat menjadi 72,57 pada posttest. Distribusi nilai huruf juga memperlihatkan perbaikan, di mana peserta yang memperoleh nilai A, B, dan C meningkat dari 56% pada pretest menjadi 76% pada posttest, sedangkan peserta dengan nilai D dan E menurun dari 44% menjadi 24%. Pergeseran histogram dan distribusi normal ke arah kanan semakin menegaskan bahwa pemahaman masyarakat meningkat sekaligus lebih merata.            Dapat disimpulkan bahwa kegiatan penyuluhan terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman dan kesadaran masyarakat terkait bahaya judi online dan pinjol. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan penambahan durasi kegiatan dan penggunaan kelompok kontrol pada penelitian selanjutnya untuk memperkuat validitas hasil.Kata kunci: judi online, pinjaman online ilegal, quasi-experiment, pretest-posttest, pemahaman masyarakat.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of the Webtoon application as a learning medium and to examine students’ perceptions of its use in reading comprehension skills of eleventh-grade students at SMA Negeri 6 Bengkulu Tengah. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques consisting of observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects included one English teacher and eight eleventh-grade students who were selected through purposive sampling. The findings indicate that the use of the Webtoon application as a reading learning medium has a positive impact on students’ reading comprehension skills. Webtoon can increase students’ interest, motivation, and engagement in the learning process. Visual support in the form of images, character expressions, and storylines helps students understand the reading content, identify main ideas, comprehend new vocabulary, and follow the storyline coherently. In addition, students showed very positive perceptions of the use of Webtoon because the learning activities became more interesting, enjoyable, and less monotonous. However, this study also identified several challenges in using Webtoon as a learning medium. These challenges include limited internet access, which occasionally disrupted students’ ability to access the application; limited storage capacity on students’ devices, which prevented some students from installing the application; and students’ tendency to focus more on visual elements than on the reading text itself. Nevertheless, these challenges did not significantly hinder the learning process, as they could be addressed through clear instructions, continuous guidance, and effective classroom management by the teacher. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Webtoon application is an effective, relevant, and practical learning medium to support students’ reading comprehension skills at the secondary school level.

Abstract

Minyak jelantah yang dibuang sembarangan dapat mencemari tanah dan airserta mengganggu kesehatan masyarakat. Rendahnya kesadaran lingkungan ditingkat sekolah dasar menjadi tantangan dalam upaya pelestarian lingkungan.Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkanliterasi lingkungan siswa melalui edukasi dan praktik pengelolaan minyakjelantah. Kegiatan dilaksanakan di SDN 01 Sukasari, Kota Depok, melaluipenyuluhan, demonstrasi pembuatan lilin aromaterapi dari minyak jelantah,serta lomba poster lingkungan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatanpengetahuan siswa sebesar 42% dan munculnya kesadaran untukmengumpulkan minyak bekas di rumah. Guru juga menyambut positif programini sebagai bagian dari pembelajaran berbasis proyek (Project-Based Learning)dalam Kurikulum Merdeka.

Abstract

Physics education faces challenges in optimizing the development of high-order thinking skills and science literacy, often being trapped in the transfer of concepts and rote memorization. The integration of cognitive science and science literacy offers a potential solution to address the educational challenges of the 21st century. This research aims to conduct a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) to map the current research landscape (2015-2025) that integrates both domains in physics education. The focus is on identifying dominant trends, utilized methodologies, examined cognitive and science literacy aspects, and formulating pedagogical recommendations. The SLR method adheres to PRISMA guidelines, utilizing article searches in the Scopus database and performing bibliometric analysis with VOSviewer. Key findings indicate an increased focus on computational literacy, the role of visualization in understanding abstract concepts, strategies for developing high-order thinking skills through scientific argumentation, the importance of metacognition and epistemic cognition, as well as the effectiveness of learning approaches such as contextual and cognitive conflict-based in facilitating conceptual change. The VOSviewer analysis visualizes research theme clusters, topic evolution, and collaboration networks, reinforcing qualitative findings. The conclusions of this SLR provide significant implications for physics education practices, emphasizing the need for instructional design based on cognitive principles to achieve comprehensive science literacy, and identifying directions for further research.

Abstract

Pediculosis capitis is an infestation of the human skin and scalp by the parasitic pest Pediculus humanus capitisIts prevalence was reported to be high and variable worldwide. The estimated prevalence of Pediculosis capitis in Indonesia is 29%. Pediculosis capitis in children can cause decreased health and cognitive performance. This study aimed to determine the prevalence and determinants of Pediculosis capitis among female students at the Raudhatul Ulum Integrated Islamic School. The study was conducted cross-sectionally with 132 subjects using a multistage sampling technique. The independent variables in the study were humidity, occupancy density, use of shared combs, use of shared headscarves, use of shared mukena and use of shared pillows with the dependent variable Pediculosis capitis. Bivariable statistical analysis concluded that there was no significant correlation between room humidity (p-value 0,087) and occupancy density factors (p-value = 0,776). There was a significant correlation between the variables of use of shared mukena (p-value <0,001), use of shared pillows (p-value <0,001), use of shared combs (p-value <0,001), and use of shared headscarves (p-value <0,001) with the incidence of Pediculosis capitis in female students at the Raudhatul Ulum Sakatiga Islamic Boarding School. The use of mukena was the dominant variable influencing Pediculosis capitis in female students controlled by other variables (PR = 20,812). There were four related variables and two unrelated variables in the results of the research analysis. It is hoped that every Islamic boarding school institution will pay attention to the cleanliness and health of its students.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The selection of a college major is a crucial decision for high school students and often causes anxiety due to limited self understanding and lack of information about study programs. This community service activity aims to design and implement a web based expert system at SMAN 6 Kabupaten Tangerang to help students choose majors that match their interests, talents, and academic abilities. The implementation method includes needs analysis, system design using the Forward Chaining method, socialization, and training on system usage for students and guidance counseling teachers. The results show that the expert system is able to provide accurate recommendations based on user input. Evaluation through questionnaires indicates an 85 percent increase in students’ understanding in determining their academic career choices.   Keywords: Expert System, Major Recommendation, Web, Community Service, SMAN 6 Kabupaten Tangerang.

Abstract

Empower Kids’ Heroes bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi pekerja sosial anak dalam menangani dan mengimplementasikan solusi untuk membantu pemenuhan dan perlindungan hak-hak anak. Pada pelatihan ini, peserta mendapatkan 18 kali pertemuan dalam waktu 5 hari yang mencakup berbagai materi yang dibutuhkan oleh pekerja sosial anak, seperti: 1) Pengantar pekerja sosial anak, 2) Isu anak dalam perspektif pekerja sosial, 3) Ekologi dan Pengasuhan anak, 4) Standar pelayanan, penentuan respons, dan kelembagaan, 5) Studi kasus, 6) Membangun ekosistem dan ruang inklusi terhadap anak. Peserta juga mengikuti pre-test dan post-test untuk mengetahui dampak yang dihasilkan dari pelatihan ini. Metode yang digunakan tidak hanya berupa pelatihan kelas, namun juga berbentuk diskusi dalam studi kasus yang sering ditemui oleh para peserta di lapangan. Selain itu, pada akhir pelatihan, Insan Setara Foundation memberikan bantuan dana hibah untuk proyek sosial yang digagas langsung oleh para peserta terpilih pasca pelatihan untuk memenuhi hak-hak anak yang masih terabaikan terutama pada hak pendidikan. Hal ini merupakan bentuk komitmen dan keseriusan pelaksana dalam mendukung pemenuhan hak-hak anak di provinsi Bengkulu.
