Abstract

Abstract

North Maluku is one of the potential areas for squid fishing, namely in Bobaneigo (Abdulkadir et al. 2022)5 and in Ternate City (Togafo waters and its surroundings). Squid jerky, and processed food products in general, are easily damaged if not stored properly. Many factors can cause damage to squid jerky, both damage due to the process of the food ingredients themselves and factors originating from external influences of food products (Wahyuni and Lasmi., 2023). The objectives of PKM are to provide additional knowledge to partners about the diversification of processed non-fish fishery resources, introduce methods of processing jerky from squid as a raw material, train partners how to process squid into jerky and facilitate participants with the tools and materials needed to produce products (jerky) using squid. The training activity on processing squid jerky by utilizing the potential of squid resources in Togafo Village, West Ternate District went smoothly with high enthusiasm from the participants. The enthusiasm for the results of squid jerky products. Community Service Program activities increase knowledge about non-fish products, improve community skills, and foster entrepreneurial spirit.

Abstract

Inflammation occurs when the body reacts to infection, irritation, or other damage. Some compounds in kluwih leaves are believed to have anti-inflammatory potential, one of which is flavonoids. The aim of this study was to find out the activity and effective dosage of the ethanol extract from kluwih leaves as an anti-inflammatory in male white Wistar rats. The experimental animals were divided into five groups: the negative control group (0.5% Na-CMC), the positive control group (Na-diclofenac), and the three treatment groups were given ethanol extract from kluwih leaves at doses of 175, 350, and 700 mg/KgBW orally. After 30 minutes, the soles of the rats' feet were induced with 0.1 ml of 1% carrageenan subplantarly. Edema volume was assessed every 1 hour for 6 hours using a plethysmometer. The data was statistically analyzed using One-Way ANOVA with LSD post hoc test. The research data shows that the ethanol extract of kluwih leaves at doses 175, 350, and 700 mg/KgBW has anti-inflammatory activity. The effective dose of kluwih leaf ethanol extract was 700 mg/KgBW (28.68%) with the second highest percentage of anti-inflammatory power value after the positive control group (31.75%). The LSD (Least Significant Difference) results indicate that the ethanol extract of kluwih leaf at a dose of 700 mg/KgBW does not show a significant difference in its anti-inflammatory effect with the positive control (0.442>0.05).

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of the digital reading platform ReadWorks in improving the reading comprehension skills of high school students. A within-subject design was employed, wherein students experienced two phases of treatment: the use of conventional teaching methods and the application of the ReadWorks platform, with a washout period in between to minimize carryover effects. The research was conducted with second-grade students at SMA Negeri 16 Samarinda, using a standardized reading comprehension test to assess performance. Paired samples t-tests were utilized to analyze the data. The findings revealed a significant improvement in students' reading comprehension scores when using the ReadWorks platform compared to conventional methods. The statistical analysis shows that the p-values for both the experimental group (p = 0.000) and the control group (p = 0.000) are less than the significance level of 0.05, leading to the rejection of the Null Hypothesis (H0) and acceptance of the Alternative Hypothesis (Ha). These results indicates that the ReadWorks platform is effective in enhancing reading comprehension skills among high school students. The study contributes to the growing body of literature advocating for the integration of digital tools in education to improve student learning outcomes.

Abstract

In an effort to boost the learning motivation of high school elementary school students, the teacher's efforts to leave this learning open at the end of the PKN semester. Understanding and improving student learning outcomes in PKN learning can be supplemented by increasing learning motivation. The aim of this study was to identify teacher tools to increase the learning motivation of high school elementary students during PKN classes. This study uses a qualitative case study methodology. The method used to gather information for this study is called objective sampling. In this research instrument, the researchers themselves collected data using observation techniques, questionnaires, and document analysis. Data analysis techniques use data collection, editorial, display, and conclusion steps. The guarantor of the validity of the data in this third study combines the method of collecting data by combining triangulation. The results of the study indicated the need for greater motivation to teach high grade students during Internship classes. One of the factors that causes students' learning motivation to be lower than it should be is their exposure to less than ideal learning environments and less than ideal teaching methods. Therefore the advice given by the teacher to increase student learning motivation is to use teaching strategies that can do this. This includes offering counselling services and using ice-breaker activities such as games and ice hockey.

Abstract

Background: The prevalence of pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) increases along with the increasing prevalence of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) patients. The frequency of TB in type 2 DM patients (10 to 15%) and the prevalence of this infectious disease is 2 to 5 times higher in DM patients compared to non-diabetics. This study aimed to analyze the risk factors for pulmonary TB in T2DM patients in Yogyakarta.Subjects and Method: This study uses a case-control study design conducted at RESPIRA Lung Hospital Yogyakarta from January 16 to February 20, 2023. The number of samples was 52 people with a total of 26 people in the case and control groups. Samples were taken by consecutive sampling technique. The independent variables were age, gender, employment, education, BMI, smoking status, clinical symptoms, family history of TB, previous history of TB, and income level). The dependent variable is the incidence of TB in DM patients. Control groups are respondents without a diagnosis of DM and TB patients. Conversely, the cases are personal with diagnosis TB and DM patient Data were collected using a questionnaire. Data analysis was carried out descriptively, bivariate with Chi-square, and multivariate with multiple logistic regression. Results: The demonstrated research that the risk factors that influence the incidence of TB in T2DM patients are gender (aOR = 9.60; 95% CI: 0.14 to 55.96; p=0.012), Age (aOR=0.24; 95% CI: 0.07 to 0.76; p=0.015).Conclusion: The female sex has a 9.60 times higher risk of experiencing TB compared to men in T2DM patients.
