Abstract

Training on the use of Mendeley in creating scientific papers aims to improve scientific writing skills among prospective teachers, especially in terms of managing references and citations in accordance with academic standards. This activity was carried out online with 29 participants from the Faculty of Science, Engineering, and Applied Sciences, Mandalika University of Education. This community service method adopted a practice-based training approach. The training involved two main sessions, namely a theory session and a practice session. In the theory session, participants were given an understanding of the importance of scientific writing in accordance with academic standards and how to use Mendeley in reference management. The practice session focused on teaching the use of Mendeley directly, from installing the application to managing references and inserting automatic citations in documents. Evaluation was carried out through pre-tests and post-tests to measure the improvement of participants' skills. The evaluation results showed a significant improvement in participants' skills. Before the training, only 30% of participants were able to operate Mendeley properly, but after the training, 92% showed significant improvement. The training also accelerated the process of compiling a reference list, from 3-4 hours to just 15-30 minutes. This training is expected to improve the quality of scientific writing among student teachers and prepare them to produce more structured, efficient, and academically compliant scientific work.

Abstract

Ensuring laboratory security is a critical consideration within campus environments to effectively prevent theft and suspicious activities. Traditional CCTV systems predominantly rely on manual monitoring, resulting in delayed responses to incidents. This research seeks to develop and implement an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based laboratory security system, integrating three primary models: YOLOv5 for human object detection, Face Recognition for individual identification, and Media Pipe Pose for real-time analysis of suspicious movements. The system is designed as a Flask-based monitoring website, which displays activity logs, detected individual identities, and automated notifications based on image processing results on a Raspberry Pi connected to CCTV cameras. The research methodology employs an applied experimental approach, encompassing stages such as system design, face dataset collection, data encoding utilizing the Face Recognition Library, and performance evaluation under two lighting conditions (bright and dark) and three distance variations. The test results indicate that the Face Recognition method operates optimally at a distance of 2 meters in bright lighting conditions, achieving an accuracy of up to 92%. However, its performance declines at distances exceeding 3 meters and under low-light conditions. Conversely, MediaPipe Pose exhibits high stability, with an average accuracy of 94% in bright conditions and 89% in dark conditions, and is capable of transmitting real-time notifications for activities such as lifting objects or placing hands into pockets. The AI-based laboratory security system developed has demonstrated effectiveness, adaptability, and responsiveness in the automatic detection of identities and suspicious activities. The integration of YOLO v5, Face Recognition, and MediaPipe Pose models offers an intelligent and efficient security solution that facilitates the implementation of the Smart Campus concept within educational environments.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effectiveness of the learning method by means of repetition (drill method) in improving basic functional literacy skills (reading, writing, and arithmetic) in students in three elementary schools (SD), namely SD Wara, SD Manelek, and SD Sikhem Bariat. This study used qualitative research where participants consisted of 125 students who had sub-average literacy skills. The research was carried out through drill method training for 30 days of meetings with materials focused on vocabulary, simple sentences, and numeracy in the context of the daily lives of elementary school students. Data were collected through functional literacy ability tests before (pretest) and after (posttest) the intervention, as well as participatory observation. The results showed that 85% of students experienced an increase in reading speed and fluency, 80% of students showed improvement in writing simple sentences with better spelling, and 82% of students were able to complete basic arithmetic operations without the help of fingers. Overall, 80% of students (90 out of 171 students) experienced a significant improvement in basic functional literacy skills after participating in the drill method training for 30 days. In this case, it can be concluded that the drill method has proven effective in improving the basic functional literacy skills of elementary school students in the 3T Area. Abstract

The low accuracy and objectivity of manual evaluation of mathematics learning in higher education impacts the quality of student research. This study aims to develop an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based evaluation model to improve the effectiveness of assessment and the quality of mathematics education research. The method used was Research and Development (R&D) with a modified Borg & Gall model, encompassing needs analysis, design, expert validation, and limited trials. The resulting model consists of four main components: Data Input, AI Processing, Assessment Output, and Feedback System, all connected through a feedback loop. Validation results showed a "very valid" validity level (average >3.6), while trials demonstrated a 25–30% increase in assessment consistency between lecturers. The AI system was also able to detect student conceptual errors quickly and accurately. The results confirm that this model is effective in improving the objectivity, efficiency, and quality of student research. The study recommends the development of a machine learning-based feedback loop and the integration of the model into the campus Learning Management System (LMS).
