Abstract

Ensuring laboratory security is a critical consideration within campus environments to effectively prevent theft and suspicious activities. Traditional CCTV systems predominantly rely on manual monitoring, resulting in delayed responses to incidents. This research seeks to develop and implement an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based laboratory security system, integrating three primary models: YOLOv5 for human object detection, Face Recognition for individual identification, and Media Pipe Pose for real-time analysis of suspicious movements. The system is designed as a Flask-based monitoring website, which displays activity logs, detected individual identities, and automated notifications based on image processing results on a Raspberry Pi connected to CCTV cameras. The research methodology employs an applied experimental approach, encompassing stages such as system design, face dataset collection, data encoding utilizing the Face Recognition Library, and performance evaluation under two lighting conditions (bright and dark) and three distance variations. The test results indicate that the Face Recognition method operates optimally at a distance of 2 meters in bright lighting conditions, achieving an accuracy of up to 92%. However, its performance declines at distances exceeding 3 meters and under low-light conditions. Conversely, MediaPipe Pose exhibits high stability, with an average accuracy of 94% in bright conditions and 89% in dark conditions, and is capable of transmitting real-time notifications for activities such as lifting objects or placing hands into pockets. The AI-based laboratory security system developed has demonstrated effectiveness, adaptability, and responsiveness in the automatic detection of identities and suspicious activities. The integration of YOLO v5, Face Recognition, and MediaPipe Pose models offers an intelligent and efficient security solution that facilitates the implementation of the Smart Campus concept within educational environments.

Abstract

The low accuracy and objectivity of manual evaluation of mathematics learning in higher education impacts the quality of student research. This study aims to develop an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based evaluation model to improve the effectiveness of assessment and the quality of mathematics education research. The method used was Research and Development (R&D) with a modified Borg & Gall model, encompassing needs analysis, design, expert validation, and limited trials. The resulting model consists of four main components: Data Input, AI Processing, Assessment Output, and Feedback System, all connected through a feedback loop. Validation results showed a "very valid" validity level (average >3.6), while trials demonstrated a 25–30% increase in assessment consistency between lecturers. The AI system was also able to detect student conceptual errors quickly and accurately. The results confirm that this model is effective in improving the objectivity, efficiency, and quality of student research. The study recommends the development of a machine learning-based feedback loop and the integration of the model into the campus Learning Management System (LMS).

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effect of the Talking Flashcards Device on students’ memory retention in English vocabulary learning at SDN 2 Nanggala. The research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, specifically a nonequivalent control group design. The participants consisted of 45 elementary students, including 21 fourth-grade and 24 fifth-grade students. The experimental group was taught using the Talking Flashcards Device, while the control group received conventional instruction. The instruments used were pre-test, post-test, and follow-up test consisting of 20 multiple-choice items designed to measure students’ vocabulary retention. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Independent Samples t-test, Paired Samples t-test, and Repeated Measures ANOVA through SPSS version 20. The findings revealed that there was no significant difference between the experimental and control groups in the pre-test (p > 0.05), indicating comparable initial abilities. However, significant differences were found in both post-test and follow-up test results (p < 0.05), demonstrating the effectiveness of the treatment. The mean scores increased from 9.82 in the pre-test to 13.09 in the post-test and further improved to 15.27 in the follow-up test. The paired samples t-test showed a statistically significant improvement (p < 0.001) with a very large effect size (Cohen’s d = 1.327). In addition, the Repeated Measures ANOVA confirmed a significant effect of time, indicating consistent improvement across all testing stages. These results suggest that the Talking Flashcards Device effectively enhances both short-term vocabulary mastery and long-term memory retention. The integration of visual and auditory elements supports stronger encoding and retrieval processes, in line with Dual Coding Theory. Therefore, this device can be recommended as an innovative and effective instructional medium for improving vocabulary learning, particularly for elementary students in rural EFL contexts

Abstract

Background: Utilization of legume plants rich in protein and highly favored by livestock is an effective approach to improving the quality of ruminant livestock feed. In this context, Butterfly Pea (Clitoria ternatea) is widely used as livestock feed due to the high protein content, organic matter digestibility, energy digestibility, and metabolizable energy of 21–29%, 69.7%, 66.6%, and 12.4 MJ/kg, respectively. During development, there are still obstacles posed by the low germination rate of Butterfly Pea seeds because of strong seed dormancy. Purpose: Therefore, this research aimed to examine the effects of soaking Butterfly Pea seeds in different concentrations of sulfuric acid solutions on germination percentage, rate, and hypocotyl length. Methods: A Completely Randomized Design (CRD) was used with three treatments and five replications, namely P1 (15% sulfuric acid for 15 minutes), P2 (30% sulfuric acid for 15 minutes), and P3 (45% sulfuric acid for 15 minutes). Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA). Results: The results showed that increasing sulfuric acid concentration influenced all measured parameters. Germination percentage increased from 25.60 ± 2.45% in P1 to 29.60 ± 2.99% in P2, reaching 28.80 ± 3.87% in P3. The highest germination rate was observed in P3 (5.10 ± 0.21%/day), with hypocotyl length also showing the highest value at 7.15 ± 0.41 cm. Conclusion: P3 at 45% concentration for 15 minutes was most effective in increasing germination and initial growth of Butterfly Pea seeds.
