Abstract

Various efforts have been made to increase students' understanding and scientific skills in science learning; however, religion is often ignored. This study seeks to integrate science and religion concepts in increasing students' religious beliefs to acquire scientific knowledge. This study used mixed methods research. The samples, consisting of 100 students and four teachers from four elementary schools in Aceh province, were chosen randomly. Data were collected from student questionnaires, teacher interviews, and observation of learning implementation. The research results found that there has been no integration of the concepts of science and religion by linking NOS (Nature of Science) aspects and religious beliefs in acquiring scientific knowledge in science learning in elementary schools. The integration carried out previously was by integrating the verses of the Qur'an into scientific concepts. The implementation of integrating the concepts of science and religion increased religious beliefs in acquiring scientific knowledge among elementary school students. Most students strongly agree with religious beliefs in acquiring knowledge. Students strongly agree that science is a way to get closer to God. In learning science, teachers should integrate NOS and religious beliefs in acquiring scientific knowledge through impressions of feelings, reasoning, and intuition toward God's creation.  This research should contribute to the understanding of science and NOS concepts related to the topics of science and religion, how scientists work, social culture, moral values, and emotional and spiritual intelligence.

Abstract

The learning model is very necessary in learning science. However, the learning model used in elementary schools (SD) is not optimal, which causes students to be less motivated to learn and has a negative impact on learning outcomes. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the problem-based learning (PBL) model on student learning outcomes. This type of research is quantitative, using quasi-experimental methods, and the design used is a one group pretest and posttest design. The population in this study was all fifth-grade students at an elementary school, while the sample in this study consisted of 20 students. Random sampling was used for sampling in this study. This study will test the pre-test and post-test using the Wilcoxon matched pairs test. In carrying out the Wilcoxon test to analyze the two paired data sets, it was carried out using test analysis through the SPSS version 25 program. Based on the research and discussion, it can be concluded that the PBL learning model is effective in improving student learning outcomes in class V SD. This is supported by the Wilcoxon test results, which show that the asymptotic significance (two-tailed) is 0.000 < 0.05. The implications of this research are that it is hoped that teachers can implement this PBL model in the learning process so that it can improve students' ability to understand subject matter easily and quickly during the learning process.

Abstract

In order to organise, carry out, and evaluate improved learning processes, education currently demands that prospective teachers have digital capabilities. However, there is still a lack of research that comprehensively examines, within the framework of digital education, the digital competences of prospective teacher students in Indonesia, particularly for those specialising in Physics teaching. The purpose of this article is to assess Indonesian prospective teacher students' digital literacy within the framework of digital education. The study's methodology is quantitative. A survey method was used to collect data from students and alumni of the Physics Education program from 2017 to 2022. A total of 248 respondents participated in the study, including 202 students and 46 alumni. The collected data were then analyzed quantitatively. The research findings indicate that the majority of respondents showed a positive response to their abilities in all assessed dimensions of digital competencies. Literacy in information and data, communication and collaboration, digital content creation, safety, and problem-solving received favourable ratings. However, there is potential to improve skills in digital content creation. Overall, the respondents demonstrated a good level of competence in the evaluated digital competency indicators. The data also revealed that students and alumni of the Physics Education program are accustomed to using technology in their academic activities. They utilize Learning Management Systems (LMS) to access course materials, submit assignments, and take exams. Additionally, they employ various applications and collaborate online in groups. The program also offers courses that support the use of technology in learning.
