Abstract

Children who are shorter than their peers due to malnutrition before and after birth are called stunting. Stunting occurs when a married adolescent woman has a low socioeconomic status and education level, thus increasing psychological stress caused by limited human resources and childcare so that child growth and development are not optimal. One important factor that influences the prevalence of stunting in early childhood and toddlers is maternal education. Increasing public awareness of the importance of maternal education in preventing stunting and improving the quality of child health. This review study aims to present evidence on the correlation between stunting and maternal education and to determine the extent to which maternal education affects the nutritional status and growth of children, especially stunting. With these objectives, this study is expected to make a significant contribution to understanding and addressing stunting problems in the community. The literature review method and the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) meta-analysis process were used throughout the investigation. There is a correlation between stunting and maternal education based on many research findings. In conclusion, education level, low maternal age, poor toddler care and nutritional intake during pregnancy are associated with stunting

Abstract

The main objective of the program at the community nutrition service center is to encourage Padang State University clinics to provide holistic community nutrition services. This service center is assisted by nutrition from FMIPA, and FPP Culinary Experts, as well as from FIK, which is intended for the community. The implementation of this activity is managed by a group of lecturers who are scientifically closely related to the program to be made. The proposed community nutrition service center is expected to develop well in providing individual and community services based on clinical nutrition. Community nutrition service centers are oriented towards other health service efforts found in clinics, namely promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative. The advantage of this service center compared to other first level health facilities such as the puskesmas is that the services provided are accompanied by assistance in the field when conducting counseling and providing services with integrity. The main targets of community nutrition services are children, adolescents, pregnant women and the elderly. The programs carried out include infant and toddler nutrition service programs, youth nutrition services, pregnant women nutrition services, elderly nutrition services and pre-participation examinations. This clinic is under the Chancellor of UNP which will be developed within the Center for Health Service Development. It is hoped that the UNP clinic will continue to develop according to the capabilities of each faculty in developing health services according to their scientific fields.

Abstract

Flash floods are among the most destructive hydrometeorological hazards in tropical highland regions, yet their spatial risks remain poorly quantified in data-scarce environments. This study assessed flash flood risk in Solok Selatan Regency, West Sumatra (Indonesia), by integrating landform and slope classification with the Topographic Wetness Index (TWI) derived from a 30 m DEM. Historical records of 11 flood events between 2010 and 2020 were used for model validation. The analysis revealed that most of the regency is characterized by moderate flash flood risk, while high-risk zones are concentrated in steep fluvial landscapes. Validation against observed flood locations demonstrated a spatial match of 95.2%, confirming the reliability of the model. In addition, the evaluation of hydrological ecosystem service capacity indicated that over 80% of the landscape has only moderate regulatory function, limiting its ability to buffer runoff. These findings highlight the importance of integrating DEM-based hydrological indices with ecosystem assessments to support more effective disaster risk reduction and spatial planning in tropical highland environments.

Abstract

Dermatoglyphic characteristics, including fingerprint patterns and the axial triradius digital (ATD) angle, are widely used as biological markers to assess genetic variation and developmental stability within populations. This study aimed to analyze the distribution of fingerprint patterns and the variation of ATD angles among Mentawai children in West Sumatra. A descriptive cross-sectional design was employed involving 10 Mentawai individuals aged 6–18 years. Fingerprint patterns were collected using the ink-and-paper method, and ATD angles were measured manually with a protractor. The results showed that the most common fingerprint patterns were plain whorl and ulnar loop, each representing 40% of observations. The majority of participants exhibited an ATD angle greater than 45° on both the left (70%) and right (60%) hands. These findings reveal distinctive dermatoglyphic characteristics in Mentawai children, indicating potential genetic influences and intrauterine environmental factors. Overall, this study enhances the scientific understanding of biological diversity within the Mentawai population.

Abstract

Keberadaan rawa menunjukkan hubungan signifikan dengan kejadian malaria (p = 0,041; OR = 4,36; 95% CI = 1,02–18,55).
