Abstract

Civic Education (Civics) plays an important role in shaping students' character and national identity. This study aims to explore and explore the application of Pancasila student profile values through the introduction of local wisdom of the Amfoang community in Civics learning in elementary schools. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that the Pancasila learner profile consists of six main dimensions, while the local wisdom of the Amfoang community includes values such as presenting betel nut and tobacco, using traditional blankets, collecting honey, and the tradition of oral invitations. There is a significant relevance between Amfoang's local wisdom values and the Pancasila learner profile, especially in the aspect of man's relationship with God. The integration of local wisdom values in Civics learning can improve students' understanding of Pancasila values, strengthen cultural identity, and shape students' inclusive and multicultural characters. This research provides guidance for teachers and education policy makers in developing learning approaches that are contextual and relevant to local realities to improve the effectiveness of civic education in Indonesia.

Abstract

The current educational Program is directed to the implementation and strengthening of character education in schools. Character of discipline and responsibility is considered as the right solution to solve the problems of the Indonesian nation, especially in Islamic Religious Education as the basis for creating the character of discipline and responsibility. The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of memorizing Juz Amma during the Covid - 19 pandemic on post-Covid-19 on the character of discipline and responsibility. Data collection techniques used in this study were interviews and documentation studies. This research was conducted in the Laboratory of Elementary School University of Malang, Blitar. The results of this study indicate that Juz Amma's online learning research has produced new innovations for Islamic religious education teachers that can be done remotely with the help of modern technology. (1) The implementation of hafal juz'amma was carried out every morning with different teaching methods used every day, and led by their respective classroom teachers. (2) Implementation of memorizing juz'amma in fostering the character of discipline, namely by requiring students to arrive on time, follow the activities in an orderly and neat manner, require students to obey the rules. (3) The implementation of memorizing juz'amma in fostering the character of responsibility is by giving memorized letters and obliging students to bring juz'ama or al-qur'an every day. However, when memorized Juz Amma online has some obstacles in the learning process such as practical-based learning materials, the practice is not effective if done online so it needs repetition when learning is done face to face (New Normal) in addition to other obstacles, such as children who have no control when playing mobile phones, so he could not concentrate on the lesson, so the teacher visited the student's home once a week as a function of control over learners. Studying during the post - covid-19 period cannot be said to have recovered from the pandemic, students who learn the habit of using technology such as mobile phones. That's when the teacher's innovations in learning are used so that students return to normal learning as before the pandemic   Keywords: Islamic Religion Education, Juz Amma, Learning

Abstract

This study explores the development of religious character education in Indonesian elementary schools over the past five years (2019–2025). Utilizing a literature review method, the research analyzes a wide range of academic sources, including journal articles, books, and educational policy documents, to examine how religious values are integrated into school culture, curriculum, and learning practices. The findings reveal that religious character education plays a strategic role in shaping students’ moral and spiritual foundations, fostering values such as honesty, empathy, tolerance, and responsibility. Schools that successfully implement religious character education tend to embed religious practices into daily routines, promote teacher role modeling, and cultivate supportive environments aligned with national educational goals, including the Profil Pelajar Pancasila. However, several challenges persist, including inadequate teacher training, limited resources, curricular time constraints, and lack of parental and community involvement. Addressing these issues requires collaborative efforts among educators, policymakers, and stakeholders to ensure the effective and sustainable integration of religious character education. This study concludes that a holistic and context-sensitive approach is essential for advancing the moral development of students and strengthening their capacity to navigate ethical challenges in a pluralistic society.

Abstract

Science concepts are often abstract and difficult to understand through conventional teaching methods. Therefore, a more interactive and concrete approach is necessary. Students frequently struggle to imagine or visualize invisible processes, which can lead to misconceptions or difficulty in grasping the material. The pop-up book, as a learning medium designed to accommodate students’ characteristics and cognitive needs, can serve as a bridge between abstract concepts and concrete experiences. With its three-dimensional elements that appear as the pages are opened, the pop-up book is expected to enhance visual understanding of complex natural phenomena, such as the water cycle, photosynthesis, and the circulatory system. This study is relevant as it aims to systematically examine how the use of pop-up books can improve visualization abilities and understanding of science concepts among elementary school students. The research used a qualitative approach with a descriptive design, involving 23 third-grade students of SDN Pandanrejo II and a teacher as the research subjects. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation analysis to gain an in-depth understanding of students’ and teachers’ experiences in using pop-up books during the learning process. The results show that 80–92% of students reported improvement in learning science through pop-up books. Around 80% of students felt engaged and interested, and found it easier to visualize and remember abstract concepts. Additionally, 85% showed better understanding of difficult concepts and became more active in discussions. About 78% showed improved critical thinking skills, and 82% felt learning became more student-centered. Thus, using pop-up books in science learning proved effective in enhancing students’ ability to visualize abstract and complex scientific concepts.

Abstract

In the evolving landscape of education, the fusion of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) disciplines with literacy education emerges as a pivotal strategy for fostering comprehensive learning. Despite its significance, elementary schools face obstacles in seamlessly incorporating STEM principles into their curricula, highlighting a gap in effective STEM- based educational practices. This research endeavors to pinpoint the hurdles impeding STEM integration and to devise strategic interventions aimed at bolstering STEM-centric learning, with a special emphasis on enhancing student literacy. Through detailed observations and dynamic discussions with key school stakeholders including Principals and faculty members the study identified foundational challenges such as a limited grasp of STEM concepts among teachers, a scarcity of relevant instructional materials, an absence of innovative strategies for teaching literacy and technology, and a general unfamiliarity with STEM-focused pedagogy. Responding to these challenges, the study orchestrated a series of targeted interventions. These included Focus Group Discussions (FGD). The post-intervention phase unveiled significant progress: educators exhibited a more profound understanding of how to develop STEM-focused learning materials and acknowledged the critical role of literacy and numeracy in student education. The strategic interventions not only mitigated the initial barriers but also equipped educators in elementary schools with the essential tools and knowledge to guide their students through an integrated learning journey in literacy and numeracy, underpinned by the core tenets of STEM education.
