Abstract

Plant damages caused by leafhopper, Empoasca terminalis Distant (Homoptera: Cicadellidae) on soybean were first encountered in 2007 in Makassar, South Sulawesi. The insect has been constantly associated with soybean crops in the province ever since. The purposes of the present study were to (i) evaluate potential yield loss attributable to the leafhopper in an experimental set up, (ii) seasonal abundance of E. terminalis, and (iii) distribution of E. terminalis in all major soybean-producing areas in the province. Potential yield loss due to the leafhopper was assessed in a field experiment using two large plots. One of the plots was kept leafhopper-free by weekly insecticide sprays; and the other plot was left unsprayed to allow leafhopper infestation to occur. Adult abundance was weekly monitored using a sweep net throughout the season. Nymph abundance was determined by direct count on the plant leaves. Leafhopper distribution was assessed through surveys conducted in all major soybean-producing areas in South Sulawesi, from 2009–2013. The results of the study showed that E. terminalis caused an average yield loss of 26% on susceptible crops without insecticide use. First leafhopper infestation in all planting seasons occurred two weeks after the plant emergence. Rainfall negatively correlated with the leafhopper abundance. The leafhopper existed in all major soybean production areas in the province. Therefore, our results confirmed the status of E. terminalis as an important soybean pest in the region. In addition, crops planted early in the dry season could escape from heavy leafhopper infestation.

Abstract

Background: In the digital era, social media has become a dominant force shaping how students communicate, express religious identity, and experience mental well-being. Purpose: This study investigates the influence of social media on three interrelated dimensions—religious behavior, social interaction, and mental health—among students in Islamic education. Method: Employing a quantitative correlational method, data were collected from 96 students at MTs Muhammadiyah Panaikang, South Sulawesi, using structured Likert-scale questionnaires. Data analysis was conducted through Pearson correlation tests and descriptive statistics. Result: The findings show a moderate positive correlation (r = 0.48, p < 0.05) between social media use and religious behavior, indicating that online Islamic content may reinforce students’ spiritual practices. A strong positive correlation (r = 0.62, p < 0.01) was also found between social media and social interaction, highlighting its role in strengthening peer communication and digital community building. Conversely, a moderate negative correlation (r = –0.55, p < 0.01) emerged between social media and mental health, suggesting that excessive use contributes to stress, anxiety, and emotional fatigue. These findings underscore the dual role of social media as both an enabler of digital religiosity and a source of psychological strain. Conclusion: The study concludes that while social media offers educational and spiritual benefits, its overuse necessitates the integration of digital literacy and ethical guidance grounded in Islamic values. Educators are encouraged to embed Islamic digital ethics and mental health awareness into the curriculum to promote balanced online engagement. Future research should explore long-term behavioral patterns and develop integrative digital ethics frameworks suited to Islamic educational settings.

Abstract

Land disputes remain prevalent in Indonesia, including in transmigration areas, largely due to limited public understanding of legal frameworks. In Bukit Biru Village, mapping conducted by ATR/BPN in 2022 revealed overlaps between transmigrants’ land ownership rights (Hak Milik) and corporate cultivation rights (Hak Guna Usaha/HGU), creating legal uncertainty and potential conflicts. This program aimed to enhance community legal awareness and provide solutions for resolving land disputes in accordance with applicable regulations. The method employed was Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA), a participatory approach that actively engages villagers in exploring their social, economic, and environmental conditions. The outcomes indicated an increased understanding among community members of their land rights and obligations, as well as available dispute resolution options both non-litigation, such as mediation and administrative remedies through BPN, and litigation through the Administrative Court (PTUN). Such legal awareness programs can serve as a model for community empowerment in addressing land disputes constructively and sustainably.ABSTRAKSengketa tanah masih sering terjadi di Indonesia, termasuk di wilayah transmigrasi, akibat lemahnya pemahaman hukum masyarakat.

Abstract

Training is very likely the most important thing in human existence. Every individual has the choice to get sufficient and impartial training. However, what happens in Indonesia is an educational gap for every Indonesian citizen. In addition, so far what has been observed is that the school system in force in Indonesia is considered inflexible and incapable. We can see this from the lagging quality of education in Indonesia compared to other countries. Many fundamental mistakes create a gap between the objectives of the school system and its implementation in the field. Which ultimately makes a large number of these goals unable to be achieved and completed properly. This test aims to find out the problems of the school system in Indonesia as well as the fundamental mistakes and answers to each current problem. framework problems.

Abstract

This study aims to critically examine how maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah can be systematically integrated into the design, structuring, and evaluation of uqud murakkabah (hybrid contracts) as a core driver of contemporary Islamic financial innovation. Grounded in key concepts such as maqasid, hybrid contracts, maslahah, hilah, and the principles of uṣūl al-fiqh, this research adopts a qualitative library-based methodology, drawing on classical jurisprudence, contemporary scholarship, international Sharia standards, and DSN-MUI fatwas. The scope of analysis includes conceptual foundations, methodological linkages, and practical applications of hybrid contracts in financing, home ownership structures, and sukuk engineering. The findings demonstrate that maqasid integration requires hybrid structures that ensure clarity, transparency, justice, real economic substance, and effective safeguards against hilah and exploitative risk configurations. Key challenges include contractual complexity, limited practitioner awareness of maqasid, and a tendency to mimic conventional financial instruments. Practical recommendations include strengthening maqasid-oriented regulatory frameworks, enhancing the capacity of Sharia Supervisory Boards, and developing measurable evaluation instruments. The study contributes an integrative normative-analytical framework that operationalizes maqasid within hybrid contract design to enhance ethical and welfare-oriented outcomes in Islamic finance. This research introduces a structured maqasid-hybrid contract integration model, offering an actionable evaluative tool for regulators, Sharia boards, and industry practitioners to ensure substantive Sharia compliance beyond formal legality.

Abstract

Recurrent global financial crises, such as the 1997 Asian crisis, the 2008 subprime mortgage crisis, and the economic uncertainty of the post-COVID-19 pandemic, highlight the structural weaknesses of the conventional debt- and interest-based monetary system that often fuels imbalances between the monetary and real sectors and encourages speculative behavior. In response, the Islamic monetary system exists as a normative and practical alternative that emphasizes justice, stability, and social welfare through the prohibition of usury, gharar, and maysir, as well as the linking of money to real economic activities. This article examines the philosophical foundations, normative pillars, and operational principles of the Islamic monetary system, highlighting the role of classical scholars such as al-Ghazali, Ibn Taymiyyah, and Ibn Qudamah, as well as the contributions of contemporary thought Wahbah Zuhaili and Umar Chapra. This study also traces the history of the implementation of the Islamic monetary system during the time of the Prophet and Khulafaur Rashidin which is based on bimetal standards (dinar-dirham), as well as examines the implementation of Islamic monetary policy in Indonesia through instruments such as sukuk, SBIS, and Islamic interbank money markets. The research methodology uses a qualitative approach with a literature review, analyzing primary and secondary literature to identify the foundations, pillars, and prospects of the Islamic monetary system. The results of the study show that the Islamic monetary system is able to integrate money creation control, risk-sharing-based policy transmission, real sector deepening, and governance based on sharia maqasid. Despite challenges such as low Islamic financial literacy and the need for regulatory harmonization, the prospects for the Islamic monetary system are very bright as an inclusive, sustainable, and equitable economic solution in the era of globalization and financial technology innovation
