Abstract

Abstract

This research aims to produce valid and practical learning products for physics education. The developed learning products consist of interactive multimedia based on Android, lesson plans (RPP), and test instruments for the topic of elasticity in physics. This study follows a Research and Development (R&D) approach, adapting the 4D model developed by Thiagarajan. The research stages include defining, designing, developing, and disseminating. The research subjects were 32 students in grade XI. Data collection techniques involved validation sheets, student response questionnaires, and pretest and posttest sheets for assessing conceptual understanding. The validation results indicate that the learning products fall under high validity. The average scores of expert and practitioner validators were 3.49 and 3.67 for interactive multimedia based on Android, 3.48 and 3.69 for the lesson plans, and 3.38 and 3.81 for the test instruments, respectively. The analysis of the response questionnaires showed that the products were convenient, with an average percentage of 82.27%. Therefore, the developed learning products are valid and highly practical for secondary school physics activities.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of problem-based learning models assisted by contextual videos on student learning outcomes in sound wave material. The type of research used is a quasi-experimental design with nonequivalent control group design. The population in this study were all students of class XI MIA SMAN 4 Mataram. Sampling used a purposive sampling technique, so that XI MIA 3 students were obtained as a control group using a conventional learning model and XI MIA 4 as an experimental group using a problem-based learning model assisted by contextual video. The instrument used is an observation sheet for affective and psychomotor assessment, a multiple choice test that refers to the cognitive abilities of students from C1 to C6 as many as 18 items taking into account the validity, reliability, discriminatory power and difficulty level of the questions. Study result data were analyzed using parametric statistics, namely t-test polled variance with a significant level of 5% and obtained t_count of 3.77 and t_table of 1.99. According to the hypothesis testing criteria, if t_count>t_table, then Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, so it can be concluded that the contextual video-assisted problem-based learning model influences student learning outcomes in sound wave material.

Abstract

The study aimed to analyze the specific dispositions that contribute to effective critical thinking among prospective science students. Utilizing a descriptive survey method, the study involved 52 participants from different universities, aiming to gather comprehensive data on their critical thinking dispositions. The research instrument, a structured questionnaire comprising 36 items derived from Ennis's critical thinking indicators, was validated and tested for reliability, ensuring its efficacy in measuring the intended constructs. The findings revealed that the overall critical thinking disposition of the students was predominantly below the critical threshold, with significant variability across different indicators. For instance, indicators such as seeking and offering clear statements and reasons scored relatively high, while others like taking into account the total situation scored lower. This disparity highlights the need for targeted interventions to enhance specific critical thinking dispositions. The study recommends integrating contextual and inquiry-based learning approaches, which have been shown to effectively foster critical thinking by engaging students in real-world problem-solving scenarios. Moreover, incorporating collaborative and experiential learning experiences can further nurture critical thinking skills, promoting deeper understanding and innovation. The research emphasizes the importance of developing specific disposition like open-mindedness to improve the critical thinking capabilities of prospective science teachers, ultimately enhancing their academic performance and preparedness to tackle complex scientific issues.

Abstract

The critical thinking skills must be possessed by students in order to face various problems. To enhance students' critical thinking abilities, a teaching model that can support these skills is needed. This study aims to examine the effect of the Project-Based Learning (PBL) model based on STEAM on students' physics critical thinking skills. The material used in this study is elasticity. This study explores the impact of the Project-Based Learning model as an independent variable on critical thinking skills as a dependent variable. The research method used is a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group design. The population of this study consists of all 159 students of class XI MIPA at MAN 1 Lombok Tengah. The sample used in this study includes class XI MIPA 5 as the experimental class and class XI MIPA 6 as the control class, selected using purposive sampling technique. Data analysis in this study was conducted using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and hypothesis testing. Based on the data analysis, the final results show that the average critical thinking score for the experimental class was 82.71, categorized as high, and for the control class was 72.96, categorized as medium. The research hypothesis was analyzed using the t-test for pooled variances. The obtained t-value was 5.54, and the t-table value was 1.706 at a 5% significance level. Therefore, since the t-value > t-table, the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. Based on the analysis results, it can be concluded that there is an effect of the Project-Based Learning model on students' physics critical thinking skills.

This study is an experimental research with a non-equivalent control group design. The population is all students of class X MIPA SMAN 3 Selong. The sampling technique was purposive sampling in which class X MIPA 4 class as the experimental class and X MIPA 1 as the control class. The experimental class was treated with Learning Cycle 7E model, while the control class was given a conventional learning. Before and after being treated, both classes were given a PSA test which amounted to 5 questions. The results of the initial and final PSA tests were analyzed for homogeneity and normality to conduct hypothesis testing. Hypothesis test analysis shows that  is rejected and  is accepted, so it can be concluded that there is an effect of the Learning Cycle 7E model on students' physics problem solving.

Abstract

Scientific literacy and creativity are two of several competencies that are very important to have now and in the future. However, referring to the data released by TIMSS and the results of previous research, shows that the scientific literacy and creativity of students in Indonesia are both low. This research aims to develop a STEM-Creative Problem Solving model learning tool to increase students' scientific literacy and creativity. This type of research is research & development. The development procedure in this research uses a 4D mode; define, design, develop, and disseminate. The instrument for knowing expert assessments of learning tools that have been developed uses validation sheets. From the results of the assessment of 3 (three) experts, it shows that the learning tools that have been developed have high validity with an average score for learning plans of 3.83 and an average validity score for student worksheets of 3.81. Thus, it can be concluded that the learning tools that have been developed are suitable to be continued to the limited trial stage (effectiveness test) and disseminated widely.
