Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mendeskripsikan prestasi dan minat belajar matematika siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran dengan metode CTL dan Open-Ended, (2) membandingkan prestasi dan minat belajar matematika siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran dengan metode CTL dan Open-Ended, (3) membandingkan pengaruh gaya belajar ditinjau dari prestasi belajar siswa, (4) membandingkan pengaruh gaya belajar ditinjau dari minat belajar siswa, (5) mendeskripsikan ada tidaknya interaksi antara metode mengajar dengan gaya belajar matematika siswa terhadap prestasi dan minat belajar matematika pada materi peluang. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian eksperimen semu yang menggunakan dua kelompok eksperimen, yaitu kelompok CTL dan kelompok Open-Ended. Instrumen yang berupa instrumen tes untuk mengumpulkan data prestasi belajar siswa dan angket untuk mengumpulkan data gaya dan minat belajar siswa. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis multivariat desain faktorial dua jalan dengan sel tak sama, dan uji lanjut dengan prosedur Bonferroni. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) prestasi belajar dan minat belajar matematika siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran dengan metode CTL dan Open-Ended termasuk baik, (2) prestasi dan minat belajar matematika yang mengikuti pembelajaran dengan metode CTL lebih baik daripada Open-Ended, (3) gaya belajar berpengaruh belajar terhadap prestasi belajar siswa, dengan gaya belajar visual mempunyai  prestasi  belajar yang lebih baik dibandingkan dengan gaya belajar auditorial, (4) gaya belajar berpengaruh terhadap minat belajar siswa, dengan gaya belajar visual mempunyai minat belajar yang lebih baik dibandingkan gaya belajar auditorial, (5) tidak terdapat interaksi antara metode pembelajaran dan gaya belajar matematika siswa terhadap prestasi maupun minat belajar matematika siswa pada materi peluang.Kata kunci: CTL, Open-Ended, prestasi, minat, gaya belajar A Comparison of CTL Method and Open-Ended in Terms of the Learning Styles Viewed from the Students’ Learning Achievement and Interest AbstractThe purposes of this research are to: (1) describe the achievement and interest in learning mathematics of the students taught using the CTL method and Open-Ended method, (2) compare the achievement and interest in learning mathematics of the students taught using the CTL method and Open-Ended method, (3) compare the effect of student’ mathematics learning styles on their achievement, (4) compare the effect of students’ mathematics learning styles on their learning interest, (5) describe the interaction of teaching methods and the students’ mathematics learning styles on their achievement and interest. This research used a quasi-experimental research design using two experimental groups, they are group of CTL and group of Open-Ended. The instrument using for collect data are test for collect the mathematics achievement data and questionnaire for collect the mathematics achievement data. The analysis of the data used the multivariate analysis with a two-way analysis of variance with unequal cells, and the post-hoc test involving the Bonferroni procedure. The results of the research are as follows: (1) the achievement and interest in learning mathematics of the students taught usingboth of the CTL and Open-Ended method  are well, (2) the achievement and interest in learning mathematics of the students taught using the CTL method  are better than Open-Ended , (3) there is an effect of learning style on their achievement, with visual learning styles is better than auditorial  learning styles, (4) there is an effect of learning style on their interest in learning mathematics of the students, with visual learning styles is better than auditorial  learning styles, (5) there is no interaction of teaching method and students’ mathematics learning styles on their  achievement and learning interest in mathematics in the material on opportunities.Keywords: CTL, Open-Ended, learning styles, achievement, learning interest

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk (1) mendeskripsikan pengaruh pendekatan analogi personal terhadap prestasi, penalaran dan kemandirian dan  (2) mendeskripsikan keunggulan pembelajaran dengan menggunakan pendekatan analogi personal dibandingkan dengan pembelajaran konvensional ditinjau dari prestasi, penalaran, dan kemandirian. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen semu. Populasinya adalah seluruh siswa kelas X jurusan Multimedia SMK Negeri 1 Kotamobagu yang terdiri dari 4 kelas dan dari 4 kelas tersebut diambil sampel dengan undian 2 kelas sehingga terpilih kelas X MM2 dan X MM4. Dari kedua kelas tersebut diundi dan diperoleh kelas X MM2 terpilih sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas X MM4 sebagai kelas kontrol. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data meliputi tes prestasi dan penalaran serta angket kemandirian belajar. Untuk melihat pengaruh pembelajaran dengan menggunakan pendekatan analogi personal terhadap variabel prestasi dan penalaran serta kemandirian belajar matematika siswa, data dianalisis dengan statistik Multivariate Analysis of Variance (Manova), sedangkan untuk menganalisis pendekatan manakah yang lebih unggul pada masing-masing variabel dependen digunakan uji statistik Independent Sample T-test. Hasil penelitian pada taraf signifikan 5% menunjukan bahwa (1) ada pengaruh pembelajaran dengan menggunakan pendekatan analogi personal terhadap prestasi, penalaran, dan kemandirian belajar matematika siswa pada siswa SMK Negeri 1 Kotamobagu, dan (2) pembelajaran dengan menggunakan pendekatan analogi personal lebih unggul untuk digunakan dibandingkan dengan pembelajaran konvensional ditinjau dari prestasi, penalaran dan kemandirian.Kata Kunci: pendekatan analogi personal, prestasi, penalaran, dan kemandirian belajar. The Effect of Personal Analogy Approach on Achievement, Reasoning and Independence of Students in Vocational Two Dimensional Materials AbstractThe purpose of this study was to: (1) describe the effect of personal analogy approach on achievement, reasoning, and self-reliance and (2) describe the advantages personal analogy approach compared with the conventional learning in terms of achievement, reasoning, and self-reliance. This study was a quasi-experimental study. The population was class X students majoring in Multimedia SMK Negeri 1 Kotamobagu which consists of 4 classes and 2 classes were elected that is class X MM2 and X MM4 as the samples. Drawn from the two classes, a class X MM2 was selected as the experimental class and class X MM4 as the control class. The instrument used to collect data included the achievement and reasoning tests and questionnaires of independent learning. To see the effect of learning by using the personal analogy approach to variable achievement and reasoning as well as the independence of mathematics learning, the data were analyzed with multivariate statistical Analysis of Variance (Manova), whereas for analyzing which approach is superior to each of the dependent variables, statistical tests Independent sample T-test was used. The results of the research on the significance level of 5% showed that (1) there was a learning effect by using the personal analogy approach on the achievement and reasoning as well as the independence of mathematics learning in students of SMK Negeri 1 Kotamobagu, and (2) learning to use a personal analogy approach was superior to using the conventional learning in terms of achievement, reasoning and self-reliance. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) menghasilkan perangkat pembelajaran matematika kelas X bagi siswa yang mengalami hambatan belajar dalam pembelajaran matematika, dan (2) mendefinisikan kualitas perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan berdasarkan aspek: kevalidan, kepraktisan, dan keefektifan. Penelitian pengembangan ini menggunakan model pengembangan 4-D yang dikembangkan oleh S. Thiagarajan, Semmel, D.S. dan Semmel, M.I. Penelitian ini menghasilkan perangkat pembelajaran matematika kelas X bagi siswa yang mengalami hambatan belajar dalam pembelajaran matematika. Perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan valid, yang ditunjukkan oleh klasifikasi secara kualitatif adalah “sangat baik” untuk dosen ahli 1 serta “cukup” untuk dosen ahli 2; praktis, yang ditunjukkan oleh hasil penilaian kepraktisan oleh guru berada pada kategori “sangat baik” untuk RPP dan “baik” untuk LKS, hasil penilaian kepraktisan oleh siswa yaitu berada pada kategori “baik”, dan rata-rata persentase keterlaksanaan pembelajaran kegiatan guru dan siswa di atas 90%; dan efektif ditinjau dari hasil tes akhir siswa dengan persentase ketuntasan belajar mencapai 70,58%.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menghasilkan perangkat pembelajaran trigonometri berbasis strategi pembelajaran inkuiri melalui model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD yang valid, praktis, dan efektif ditinjau dari prestasi dan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian pengembangan yang menggunakan model pengembangan 4-D yang dikembangkan oleh Thiagarajan, Semmel dan Semmel. Pengembangan perangkat dimulai dari tahap: awal-akhir, analisis siswa, analisis tugas, analisis konsep, analisis spesifikasi tujuan pembelajaran, pemilihan media, pemilihan format, desain produk, penilaian ahli dan praktisi, uji coba terbatas dan uji coba lapangan. Subjek uji coba sebanyak 67 orang siswa kelas X SMAN Bernas Kabupaten Pelalawan, Provinsi Riau yang terdiri atas sembilan orang pada uji coba terbatas dan 58 orang pada uji coba lapangan. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan memenuhi kriteria valid, praktis, dan efektif ditinjau dari pretasi dan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa sehingga perangkat tersebut layak digunakan sebagai sumber belajar.Kata kunci: perangkat trigonometri, strategi inkuiri, model kooperatif tipe STAD Developing an Inquiry Model-Based Trigonometry Teaching Kit Using STAD Method AbstractThe aim of this study is to produce an inquiry model-based trigonometry teaching kit using STAD method of cooperative learning which is  valid, practical, and effective in terms of students’ mathematics achievement and  communication skills.This is a research and development study (R D), which consisted of a 4-D development model  by Thiangarajan, Semmel and Semmel. The development process started with front-end analysis, learner analysis, task analysis, concept analysis, specifying of objectives analysis, media selection,  format selection, product design, validators’ and practitioners’ evaluations, small scale try-out, and the field test. There were a total of 67 subjects used for the study which consisted of nine students for the small try-out and 58 students for the field test. The subjects were year 10 students of Bernas Senior High School in the region of Pelalawan, Riau. The results reveal that the developed product is valid, practical, and effective in terms of students’ mathematics achievement and  communication skills to be used as a learning resource.Keywords: inquiry strategies, trigonometry, model STAD cooperative

Abstract

The study was to describe the implementation of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) toward the improvement of students’ Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) and characters and to describe the obstacles that had been encountered within the implementation. The study was a mixed research that made use of concurrent mixed method design. The population in the study was the students from eight junior high schools that had been selected from six provinces in Indonesia namely the Yogyakarta Special Region, Bengkulu, South Borneo, West Nusa Tenggara, Southeast Sulawesi and Papua. There were 648 students who had been selected randomly from these schools. The researchers conducted the PBL process within the experimental classes and the expository learning process within the eight control classes. The data gathering process was conducted through the test, the self-assessment and the open questionnaire. The quantitative data analysis was conducted inferentially using multivariate and univariate analysis, while the qualitative data analysis was conducted descriptively. The results of the study showed that: (1) the implementation of PBL had been more effective in comparison to the expository one in terms improving the students’ HOTS; (2) the implementation of PBL had not been more effective in comparison to the expository one in terms of improving the students’ characters; and (3) in overall the obstacles that had been encountered within the implementation of PBL process were related to the teachers’ unpreparedness, the time allocation, the unequal students’ input, the students’ learning habits and the difficult assessment.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan langkah-langkah pengembangan bahan ajar matematika dengan pendekatan kontekstual dan metode penemuan terbimbing serta mendeskripsikan kualitas hasil pengembangan bahan ajar tersebut. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan dengan tahap utama meliputi: (1) investigasi awal, (2) desain, (3) realisasi, (4) uji coba, evaluasi dan revisi, serta (5) implementasi. Aspek kevalidan bahan ajar dan komponen pendukungnya ditinjau dari penilaian para ahli dan mencapai kriteria valid dengan kategori sangat baik. Aspek kepraktisan mencapai kriteria praktis dengan kategori sangat baik ditinjau dari observasi keterlaksanaan pembelajaran, penilaian oleh guru, dan penilaian oleh peserta didik. Aspek keefektifan telah tercapai ditinjau dari tes ketercapaian kompetensi, angket EQ dan SQ peserta didik. Hasil uji coba lapangan menunjukkan bahwa lebih dari 80% peserta didik telah mencapai KKM dan persentase banyak peserta didik sebelum dan sesudah pembelajaran mengalami peningkatan pada kategori  minimal tinggi dan minimal sangat tinggi untuk angket EQ dan SQ. Penelitian ini menghasilkan bahan ajar matematika dan komponen pendukungnya, meliputi silabus, rencana pelaksanaan pembelajaran (RPP), dan modul matematika yang valid, praktis, dan efektif, serta tes ketercapaian kompetensi (TKK) yang valid, praktis, dan reliabel. Kata kunci: pengembangan, bahan ajar, pendekatan kontekstual, penemuan terbimbing, EQ, SQ, akselerasi  DEVELOPING MATHEMATICS INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIAL USINGCONTEXTUAL APPROACH AND GUIDED INQUIRY METHOD TO INCREASE EQ AND SQ OF ACCELERATION STUDENTS IN JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL Abstract This research is aimed to describe steps of developing mathematics instructional material using contextual approach and guided inquiry method and describe the quality of the developed product. This research is a developmental research with the main steps cover (1) preliminary investigation, (2) design, (3) realization/construction, (4) test, evaluation, and revision, and (5) implementation. The result of validation by expert jugdement shows that the instructional material that is developed is of valid criteria of very good category. The aspects of practicality was of practice criteria of very good category as seen from the implementation of the learning, evaluation by the teachers, and evaluation by the students. The aspect of effectiveness could be reached from the students’ achievement and EQ and SQ questionnaire. The result of the test shows that more than 80% of the student achieve the minimum score and percentage many of students who are at a high minimum and very high minimum category increase on EQ and SQ questionnaire. The research produced mathematics instructional material and supporting components, consisting of valid, practical, and effective syllabuses, lesson plans, mathematics module, and the valid, practical, and reliable of test. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan proses matematis siswa Kalimantan Timur dalam menyelesaikan soal matematika model PISA (Programme for International Students Assessment). Penelitian ini dilakukan terhadap 300 siswa kelas IX SMP Kalimantan Timur yang belum pernah mewakili Indonesia sebagai sampel PISA bidang Matematika. Siswa tersebut tersebar dari tiga level sekolah (rendah, sedang, tinggi) yang ditentukan berdasarkan hasil Ujian Nasional 2016 pada mata pelajaran matematika. Pengumpulan data menggunakan 16 butir soal matematika model PISA (α = 0,835) yang mencakup tiga proses matematis: formulate, employ dan interpret. Kemampuan siswa dianalisis berdasarkan mean measure logit dan selanjutnya ditransformasi ke skala dan level kemampuan matematika PISA, sehingga dapat dibandingkan dengan rata-rata kemampuan siswa Indonesia dan negara OECD dalam studi PISA. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan siswa Kalimantan Timur berada di bawah rata-rata negara OECD. Namun hasil tersebut lebih baik dibandingkan capaian skor siswa Indonesia yang menjadi sampel pada PISA 2015. Berdasarkan kemampuan dalam proses matematis, kemampuan siswa dari level tinggi ke rendah berturut-turut adalah formulate, employ dan interpret. Selain itu, kemampuan proses formulate siswa Kalimantan Timur dari sekolah kategori tinggi di atas rata-rata negara OECD. East kalimantan students’ mathematical process proficiency in solving PISA-like mathematicsAbstractThis study was aimed to describes East Kalimantan students’ mathematical processes proficiency in solving a PISA-like mathematics test. The study was carried out with 300 East Kalimantan ninth-grade students who haven’t represented Indonesia as Mathematics PISA samples. The students were spread across three school levels (low, medium, high) determined based on the results of the 2016 National Examination in mathematics. Data collection uses 16 items of PISA-like mathematics test (α = 0.835) which includes three mathematical processes: formulate, employ, and interpret. Student proficiency was analyzed based on mean measure logit and subsequently transformed to the scale and level of PISA mathematics proficiency so that it can be compared with the average proficiency of Indonesian students and OECD countries in the PISA study. The results of the data analysis show that the average proficiency of East Kalimantan students is below the average of OECD countries. However, these results are better than the average score of Indonesian students who were sampled at PISA 2015. Based on proficiency in the mathematical process, the proficiency of students from high to low levels consecutively namely: formulate, employ, and interpret. In addition, proficiency in the formulating of East Kalimantan students from high-level schools is above the average of OECD countries.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan: (1) pengetahuan yang sudah dimiliki siswa, (2) strategi, dan (3) kontrol kognitif yang di lakukan siswa sekolah menengah pertama dalam meyelesai-kan masalah matematika. Jenis penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IX SMP Negeri 1 Siau Timur sebanyak 171 siswa. Sampel diambil sebanyak 15 dari 171 siswa, dimana masing-masing kategori terdiri atas 5 siswa.Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan tes tulis dalam bentuk soal uraian dan dilengkapi dengan wawancara terhadap subjek untuk memperjelas karakteristik proses pemecahan masalah siswa yaitu Pengetahuan awal, strategi, dan kontrol kognitif. Soal yang diujikan adalah soal pemecahan masalah sebanyak 5 item soal. Analisis data dilakukan dengan menganalisis hasil tes dan wawancara, kemudian dilanjut-kan dengan menarik kesimpulan. Hasil Penelitian adalah sebagai berikut.Pertama, pengetahuan (resources) yang telah dikuasaisiswastrata tinggi yaitu pada pemecahan masalah matematika mengenai sifat-sifat operasi bilangan bulat dan pecahan serta persamaan linear satu variabel. Sementara itu siswa strata sedang dalam menentukan pola barisan bilangan sederhana, dan siswa strata rendah dalam memecahkan masalah yang berkaitan dengan barisan dan deret. Kedua, strategi yang tepat digunakan masing-masing strata pada kompetensi tersebut yakni strategi mengidentifikasi langkah (identify subgoal) dan strategi menggunakan rumus (use formula) oleh strata tinggi. Kemudian, strategi menggambar bagan (draw a sketch) oleh strata sedang dan rendah. Selanjutnya yang terakhir kontrol kognitif. Siswa strata tinggi cenderung memiliki gaya kognitif impulsif sedang siswa strata sedang dan rendah cenderung memiliki gaya kognitif refleksif. Kata kunci: proses, pemecahan masalah.   AN ANALYSIS OF JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL’S MATHEMATICS PROBLEM SOLVING PROCESS Abstract The objective of this study is to describe: (1) student resources, (2) strategies, and (3) cognitive control faced by junior high school students in solving mathematics problem. This study employed the qualitative descriptive approach. The research subjects were students of grade IX SMP Negeri 1 Siau Timur many as 171 students. Samples were taken as many as 15 of 171 students, where each category is made up of 5 students. The data were collected through a written test using an essay test item and interviews with the subjects to clarify characterization of mathematical problem-solving process as student resources, strategies, and cognitive control. The tested items were as many as 5 items. All of that is a problem solving items. The data were analyzed by analyzing the test and interview results, and drawing conclusions. Results are as follows. First, depth resources shown by high strata’s student in solving mathematical problems concerning the properties of integer and fractional operations and one variable linear equations. Meanwhile, medium stratum students in determining the simple number patterns, and the students of lower strata in solving problems related to sequence and series. Second, the right strategy is used by each stratum  in the above competencies. The strategies used by the high strata are identify sub goal and  use the formula. Then, draw a sketch strategy by medium and low strata. Futhermore, students' cognitive control.High strata’s students tend  to have of impulsive cognitive style were medium and low strata of students tend to have a reflexive cognitive style. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kontribusi kompetensi guru matematika SMP terhadap prestasi belajar siswa. Kompetensi guru dikelompok­kan ke dalam empat ranah, yaitu kompetensi pedagogik, profesional, sosial, dan kepribadian. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian survei. Data penelitian dikum­pulkan melalui angket, data sekunder hasil Ujian Kompetensi Guru (UKG) tahun 2015, dan nilai UAS siswa kelas VII tahun ajaran 2016/2017. Populasi penelitian adalah guru matematika SMP di Kabupaten Sleman dengan sampel pene­litian sebanyak 72 guru. Sampel ditentukan dengan proportional random sam­pling. Untuk mengetahui hubungan antara variabel kompetensi guru dan pres­tasi belajar siswa digunakan analisis Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa: (1) kompe­tensi guru dapat menjelaskan prestasi belajar siswa sebesar 44,7%; (2) terdapat kontribusi positif dan signifikan antara kompetensi pedagogik dan kom­petensi profesional terhadap prestasi belajar siswa dengan nilai prediksi secara bertu­rut-turut yaitu 0,247 (t = 1,97, p 0,05) dan 0,248 (t = 2,343, p 0,05); dan (3) kompetensi sosial dan kepribadian tidak berpengaruh signifikan ter­hadap pres­tasi belajar siswa dengan nilai prediksi secara berturut-turut yaitu 0,227 (t = 1,316, p 0,05) dan 0,070 (t = 0,410, p 0,05) Contribution of junior high school mathematics teacher competence on student’s achievementAbstractThis research aimed to describe the contribution of junior high school mathe­matics teacher competence to student achievement. Teacher competence was grouped into four domains, namely pedagogic, professional, social, and perso­nality. This research was survey research. The research data was collected through a questionnaire, secondary data on the 2015 teacher com­petency exa­mination results, and the seventh-grade students’ final school exa­mination sco­res for the 2016/2017 academic year. The population was junior high school mathematics teachers in Sleman Regency, Indonesia, with a sample of 72 tea­chers. The sample was determined by proportional random sampling. To deter­mine the relationship between teacher competence and students’ lear­ning achi­evement, we used Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) analysis. The results of the study revealed that: (1) teacher compe­tence could explain students' achievement by 44.7%; (2) there was a positive and significant contribution between pedagogic competence and professional com­petence on students’ achievement with a predictive value of 0.247 (t = 1.97, p 0.05) and 0.248 (t = 2.343, p 0.05), respectively; and (3) social and perso­nality competence did not had a significant effect on student achievement with predictive values of 0.227 (t = 1.316, p 0.05) and 0.070 (t = 0.410, p 0.05), respectively.

Abstract

This study aimed to produce the trigonometry learning kit for tenth-grade high school students using the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) approach properly. This study was development research using the ADDIE model, which consisted of five stages, namely Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. This study's subjects were tenth-grade high school students (n = 32) in Semarang, Indonesia. Data collection was carried out through questionnaires and tests. To assess the learning kit's validity, we used a questionnaire with the expert (mathematics education lecturers) as data sources. To assess the learning kit's practicality, we used the questionnaire (with teacher and student as data sources) and observation sheets. We used a test to assess the learning kit's effectiveness in terms of problem-solving skills and learning achievement. This development resulted in the trigonometry learning kit in the form of lesson plans or Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran (RPP) and worksheets or Lembar Kerja Peserta Didik (LKPD) using the STEM approach properly (meet the criteria of being valid, practical, and effective). The learning kit characteristics were: facilitating problem-solving skills and learning achievement, using problems related to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, and organizing based on the Engineering Design Process (EDP) steps.
