Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan perangkat pembelajaran matematika yang menun-jang pendidikan karakter siswa kelas V sekolah dasar yang layak. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian pengembangan dengan menggunakan model pengembangan 4-D yang dikembangkan oleh Thiagarajan, Semmel Semmel yang telah dimodifikasi sehingga memuat tahapan define, design, dan develop. Produk yang dikembangkan adalah perangkat pembelajaran yang terdiri dari RPP, LKS, bahan ajar/buku siswa dan tes hasil belajar. Pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran dimulai dari tahap analisis awal-akhir, analisis peserta didik, analisis materi, analisis tugas, spesifikasi tujuan pembel-ajaran, pemilihan media, pemilihan format, validasi ahli, uji coba terbatas, uji coba lapangan, dan revisi. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan terdiri dari lembar validasi, lembar observasi karakter siswa, dan lembar observasi kemampuan guru dalam mengelola pembelajaran untuk mengetahui keterlaksanaan RPP yang menunjang pendidikan karakter. Penelitian ini menghasilkan perangkat pembelajaran yang menunjang pendidikan karakter pada materi pecahan. Hasil validasi perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan layak untuk digunakan dengan kategori cukup valid, praktis, dan efektif. Pembelajaran dengan menggunakan perangkat yang dikembangkan dapat membentuk karakter jujur, disiplin, dan bertanggung jawab. Berdasarkan pengamatan yang telah dilakukan, perangkat pembelajaran matematika yang dikembangkan pada uji coba terbatas dan uji coba lapangan menunjukkan peningkatan karakter siswa di setiap pertemuan.DEVELOPING MATHEMATIC TEACHING KITS THAT SUPPORT THE CHARACTER EDUCATION OF THE STUDENTS IN CLASS V OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOLSABSTRACTThis research aims to develop appropriate mathematic teaching kits that support the character education of the students in class V of elementary school. This research is a research and development study using a model of the development of the 4-D developed by Thiagarajan, Semmel and Semmel which has been modified so that it consists of the defining, designing, and developing phases. The product developed is a teaching kit that consists of lesson plans, worksheets, instructional materials/students books, and a learning outcome test. The development is started from the initial stage-end analysis, analysis of learners, content analysis, task analysis, specification of learning objectives, media selection, format selection, test validation by experts, limited testing, field trials and revision. The instruments used in this study consisted of a validation sheet, students’ character observation sheets, and observation sheets of teachers’ capabilities in teaching management to determine the feasibility of the RPP that supports character education. The research produces a teaching kit that supports character education on the material about fractions. The results of the validation of the developed kit show that the teaching kit is feasible to use and it is valid, practical, and effective. The teaching using the developed kit can form honesty, discipline, and responsibility. Based on the observations that have been done, the developed mathematic teaching kit, according to the limited testing and field trials, shows the increase in the character of students in each meeting.Keywords: development, learning kit, character education

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pengaruh pembelajaran matematika dengan menggunakan pendekatan realistik terhadap motivasi belajar siswa di kelas dan pengaruh pembelajaran matematika dengan menggunakan pendekatan realistik terhadap prestasi belajar siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen dengan desain pre-tes post-tes dengan kelompok non-ekuivalen. Penelitian ini menggunakan kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol. Sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas V SD Negeri Karangasem Yogyakarta dan SD Negeri Sarikarya Yogyakarta yang dipilih secara acak dengan teknik undian. Variabel bebas pendekatan pembelajaran, sedangkan variabel terikatnya adalah motivasi dan prestasi belajar. Teknik pengambilan data dilakukan dengan instrumen prestasi belajar siswa melalui pretest dan posttest. Data motivasi didapatkan menggunakan skala motivasi. Untuk membandingkan motivasi dan prestasi belajar siswa, data dianalisis dengan uji t2-Hotelling’s dan MANOVA. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) ada pengaruh yang signifikan antara pendekatan matematika realistik terhadap motivasi siswa pada taraf signifikansi sebesar 0,000 0,05;(2) ada pengaruh yang signifikan antara pendekatan matematika realistik terhadap prestasi belajar siswa pada tarafsignifikansi 0,042 0,05.Perolehan gain untuk variabel motivasi dan prestasi pada kelas kontrol secara berturut-turut adalah 0,0045 dan 0,0897, sedangkan perolehan gain untuk variabel motivasi dan prestasi pada kelas eksperimen berturut-turut adalah 0,745 dan 0,434.  The Effect of Using Realistic Mathematics on Motivation and Learning Achievement of Primary School Students Abstract This study aims to find out (1) an effect of the realistic mathematics approach on the students’ motivation, (2) an effect of the realistic mathematics approach on the students’ achievement. This was a quasi-experimental study. The research employed the one group pretest-posttest designnon-equivalent group. The research used to experiment class and control class. The sample comprised all grade 5 students of SD N Karangasem Yogyakarta and SD N Sarikarya Yogyakarta established using random sampling technique. The learning approach was the dependent variables, while motivation and achievement were the independent variables. The data were collected using a learning achievement test. The motivation data were collected using an achievement motivation scale. To compare the motivation and students’ achievement, the data were analyzed using t 2-Hotelling’s and MANOVA. The result of the study shows that: (1) there is an effect of the realistic mathematics approach on the students’ motivation at the significance level of 0.000 0.05, (2) there is an effect of the realistic mathematics approach on the students’ achievement at the significance level of 0.042 0.05. The gain score of motivation and achievement in the control class are 0.0045 and 0.0897, while the gain score of motivation and achievement in the experiment class are 0.745 and 0.434.Keywords: realistic mathematics, motivation, achievement

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menghasilkan produk media berupa komik pembelajaran matematika yang dapat meningkatkan motivasi dan prestasi belajar matematika siswa kelas V SD. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan, yang terdiri dari: (1) penelitian dan pengumpulan data, (2) perencanaan, (3) pengembangan draft produk, (4) uji coba lapangan awal,  (5) revisi hasil uji coba, (6) uji coba lapangan, (7) penyempurnaan produk hasil uji coba lapangan, (8) uji pelaksanaan lapangan, dan (9) penyempurnaan produk akhir. Subjek uji coba adalah siswa kelas V SDN Glagah Yogyakarta. Subjek uji coba satu-satu terdiri atas tiga orang siswa. Subjek uji coba kelompok kecil terdiri atas sembilan orang siswa yang belum terlibat dalam uji coba satu-satu, dan subjek uji lapangan terdiri atas 54 orang siswa dari kelas VB dan kelas VC yang tidak ikut dalam uji coba satu-satu dan uji coba kelompok kecil. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media yang dikembangkan ini mendapatkan penilaian dari para ahli dengan kategori “baik”, penilaian guru dan siswa yang menggunakan media komik menyatakan praktis, sehingga media pembelajaran ini layak digunakan. Hasil uji lapangan menunjukkan media komik pembelajaran matematika yang digunakan dapat meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa sebesar 0,65 tergolong dalam kategori sedang menurut skala gain, sedangkan prestasi belajar siswa sebesar 0,73 tergolong dalam kategori tinggi menurut skala gain. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ DEVELOPING COMIC MEDIA FOR THE TEACHING OF MATHEMATICS TO ENCHANCE THE MOTIVATION AND MATHEMATICS LEARNING OUTCOMES GRADE V ABSTRACT This research aims to produce a product in the form of mathematics teaching comics which can improve motivation and learning achievement of students of grade V of SD. This research is research and development study consisting of nine stages, namely: (1) research and data collection, (2) planning, (3) developing the draft product, (4) the initial field trial, (5) revising the test results (6) field trials, (7) refinement of the results of field trials of the products, (8) implementation of the field test, and (9) improvement of the final product. The subjects were students of SDN Glagah Yogyakarta. The subjects of the trial consisted of three students. The trial subjects test consisted of nine students did not involve in the one-on-one trial, and the field test subjects consisted of 54 students from classes VB and VC which were not participate one on one trial test and small group trial. The developed media gained result from the experts who considered it good, the assesment of students and teachers showed that the comic media was practice and feasible. Based on the field test the comic media of mathematics learning could improve learning motivation of 0.65 as moderate  category, the learning performances was 0.73 as high category according to gain scale. Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the readiness of  Mathematics teacher in Yogyakarta City to implement the 2013 Curriculum. The readiness aspect consists of insight, attitudes, and infrastructure support. This type of research is a survey research with mixed research (mixed methods). Subjects in the study were 33 Mathematics teachers from 16 junior high schools in Yogyakarta who taught grades VII and VIII. Subjects were selected by stratified random sampling technique. Data collection techniques are carried out through questionnaires, observations, and interviews. Data were analyzed descriptively. The results of research on the readiness of junior high school mathematics teachers in the city of Yogyakarta to implement the 2013 curriculum in accordance with the criteria are quite good. Aspects of teacher insight about the 2013 Curriculum are quite good, the completeness of 2013 Curriculum documents is good, participation in curriculum education activities is not good, the ability to prepare lesson plans is quite good, the attitude of teachers towards the 2013 Curriculum is quite good, the completeness of facilities and infrastructure is quite good. 2013 curriculum. The results of the study are expected to be taken into consideration for policy making relating to the implementation of the 2013 Curriculum.

Abstract

The objective of the study is to discover: (1) types of errors that the students have committed; (2) the obstacles that the students have dealt with; and (3) the size of the errors that the students have committed. The nature of the study is qualitative and quantitative research. Then, within the conduct of the study, the research site was the Angkasa Adisucipto Junior High School located in Janti Street, Adisucipto Air Base, Caturtunggal, Depok, Yogyakarta. The subjects within the study were the students from Grade IX A, Grade IX B and Grade IX C from the Angkasa Adiscucipto Junior High School Yogyakarta. The data were gathered by using test administration, questionnaire distribution and documentation study. Then, the instruments that had been implemented within the conduct of the study were the essay test instrument and the questionnaire. The results of the study show that the errors that the Grade IX students from Angkasa Adisucipto Junior High School in completing the materials of Quadratic Equation from the perspective of conceptual understanding are namely: (1) the students have not correctly formulated the mathematical concepts by using the appropriate symbol or language; (2) the students have committed errors in composing the theorem or formula (whereas it has not been demand-ed in the test items); (3) the students have committed errors in composing the ABC formula when they are completing the test items; and (4) the students have not composed the theorem or the formula for completing the test items. Then, the five biggest obstacles in learning the materials of Quadratic Equation are namely: (1) classroom (64.06%); (2) students’ capacity (46.25%); (3) material delivery (30.07%); (4) students’ attitude and interest toward the materials of Quadratic Equation (29.24%); and (5) students’ motivation (25.78%).

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis karakteristik butir soal ujian nasional matematika SMP/MTs bedasarkan teori klasik. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksploratif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Data yang digunakan pada penelitian adalah data sekunder dengan mengambil data ujian nasional mata pelajaran matematika tahun 2015 untuk Propinsi Papua. Pada penelitian ini, responden dikelompokkan menjadi dua kelompok yaitu kelompok tinggi dan kelompok rendah berdasarkan jumlah skor yang diperoleh setiap peserta tes. Untuk menganalis karakteristik butir soal yang terdiri dari indeks kesukaran, daya pembeda dan reliabilitas, dilakukan dengan bantuan program Excel dan QUEST. Hasil analisis menunjukkan nilai rerata dari indeks kesukaran butir kelompok tinggi berada pada kategori sedang dan kelompok rendah pada kategori sukar, nilai rerata daya pembeda kelompok tinggi dan rendah menunjukkan kategori tidak baik, yang artinya soal tersebut tidak dapat membedakan kemampuan peserta didik berkemampuan tinggi dan yang berkemampuan rendah hal ini dapat disebabkan peserta tes menjawab soal dengan cara menebak sehingga tidak memberikan hasil yang sesuai. Reliabilitas butir kelompok tinggi dan rendah memiliki nilai indeks yang mendekati + 1,00 yang menunjukkan reliabilitas yang tinggi. Berdasarkan hasil analisis butir soal tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa soal tersebut layak digunakan. Dasil hasil analisis, diberikan saran untuk soal pengujian di tiap-tiap daerah supaya disesuaikan dengan kondisi lingkungan dan peserta didik di masing-masing daerah.

Abstract

This community service is aimed at introducing realistic mathematics learning approach in elementary school and training of teachers to develop creative and meaningful mathematics learning media with Islamic context. This activity takes the form of training to deepen the learning materials and develop the Islamic context in the learning of mathematics. The technical steps in this activity are explanation and discussion about the importance of paying attention to the child's cognitive development stage in implementing the learning to be meaningful for the students. The next stage is an explanation and discussion of realistic mathematics learning approaches and appropriate learning media that use meaningful daily context for students. Furthermore, a workshop was held to develop realistic learning media with an Islamic context. Based on the observation and discussion with the participants it can be concluded that the participants enthusiastically attend the training. Participants also identified and acquired new ideas to develop realistic elementary-based mathematics learning media with an Islamic context. Such media is expected to motivate students to learn mathematics because it uses approach and learning media meaningful for students.

Abstract

This research describes 8th grade students’ ability in solving TIMSS-model questions. Samples were 400 students from 15 junior high schools (SMP) in Yogyakarta. Students were subjected to a written test with 45 TIMSS-model questions exploring both content and cognitive domain. Students’ ability in solving the given questions was subsequently analyzed descriptively. Results showed that 48% students were categorized in a low or very low category and only 25% students were in a high or very high category. Students particularly faced difficulty in solving algebra, geometry, data and probability questions. In terms of cognitive domain, students have a low ability in solving reasoning questions. Comparison between results from this present study with results from TIMSS 2011 showed that students’ ability in this present study was far better than TIMSS 2011 results for Indonesia and slightly higher than TIMSS 2011’s international average. Implications and suggestions for mathematics education program improvement in Indonesia are discussed.AbstrakPenelitian ini mendeskripsikan kemampuan siswa kelas 8 dalam menyelesaikan soal-soal model TIMSS. Sampel adalah 400 siswa dari 15 Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP) di Yogyakarta. Setiap siswa diberikan soal ujian tertulis dengan 45 soal model TIMSS yang mengeksplorasi baik domain konten maupun kognitif. Kemampuan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal-soal yang diberikan kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa 48% siswa dikategorikan dalam kategori rendah atau sangat rendah dan hanya 25% siswa yang dikategorikan dalam kategori tinggi ataupun sangat tinggi. Siswa terutama mengalamai kesulitan dalam menyelesaikan soal-soal aljabar, geometri, data dan peluang. Dalam hal domain kognitif, siswa memiliki kemampuan yang rendah dalam menyelesaikan soal-soal penalaran. Perbandingan antara hasil pada penelitian ini dengan hasil TIMSS tahun 2011 menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan siswa dalam penelitian ini jauh lebih baik dengan hasil TIMSS tahun 2011 untuk Indonesia dan sedikit lebih tinggi dibandingkan rata-rata internasional TIMSS 2011. Implikasi dan saran untuk perbaikan program pendidikan matematika di Indonesia kemudian didiskusikan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) menganalisis pengaruh pembelajaran kooperatif tipe group investigation berbantuan Geogebra dalam meningkatkan kompetensi siswa sebelum dan sesudah diperlakukan pembelajaran, (2) menganalisis pengaruh pembelajaran kooperatif tipe group investigation berbantuan Geogebra dalam mendukung keterampilan collaboration, problem solving, dan communication. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif, alat dan analisis statistik yang sesuai, sehingga temuan yang diperoleh tidak berbeda dengan keadaan yang sebenarnya. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas X SMA YPPI Belitang. Sampel penelitian dipilih dengan metode purposive sampling, yaitu kelas X IPA. Instumen penelitian yang digunakan yaitu tes pengetahuan Kompetensi Dasar siswa, tes keterampilan problem solving dan communication, dan angket keterampilan collaboration. Pengujian hipotesis penelitian yaitu menggunakan uji Paired Sample T-Test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Pembelajaran matematika berbantuan Geogebra dengan model kooperatif tipe group investigation dapat meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam mempelajari Sistem Pertidaksamaan Dua Variabel. (2) Pembelajaran matematika berbantuan Geogebra dengan model kooperatif tipe group investigation dapat mendukung kemampuan komunikasi, kolaborasi, dan pemecahan masalah siswa. Selain itu, model kooperatif yang didukung Geogebra dapat digunakan oleh guru dalam meningkatkan kemampuan dan keterampilan siswa abad ke-21. Pembelajaran matematika harus diatur untuk meningkatkan keterampilan kolaborasi, pemecahan masalah, dan komunikasi siswa. Keterampilan tersebut sangat mempengaruhi kemampuan siswa dalam menghadapi masalah yang lebih kompleks. This study aims to: (1) analyze the effect of Geogebra-assisted group investigation cooperative learning in improving student competence before and after learning treatment, (2) analyze the effect of Geogebra-assisted group investigation cooperative learning in supporting collaboration, problem solving, and communication skills. This study uses a quantitative approach, appropriate statistical tools and analysis, so that the findings obtained do not differ from the actual situation. The population of this study were all students of class X SMA YPPI Belitang. The research sample was selected by purposive sampling method, namely class X IPA. The research instruments used were students' Basic Competency knowledge tests, problem solving and communication skills tests, and collaboration skills questionnaires. Testing the research hypothesis is using the Paired Sample T-Test. The results of the study show that: (1) Geogebra-assisted mathematics learning with a cooperative model of group investigation type can improve students' abilities in studying the Two Variable Inequality System. (2) Geogebra-assisted mathematics learning with a group investigation type cooperative model can support students' communication, collaboration, and problem solving skills. In addition, the cooperative model supported by Geogebra can be used by teachers in improving the abilities and skills of 21st century students. Mathematics learning should be organized to improve students' collaboration, problem solving, and communication skills. These skills greatly affect students' ability to deal with more complex problems.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: 1) menganalisis pengaruh pembelajaran menggunakan pendekatan saintifik dengan group investigation terhadap hasil belajar siswa; 2) menganalisis pengaruh pembelajaran menggunakan pendekatan saintifik dengan grup investigation terhadap kemampuan problem solving, communication, dan collaboration. Jenis penelitian ini adalah eksperimen dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah kelas VIIIB SMP Bopkri 1 Yogyakarta sebanyak 20 siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian adalah tes, angket, dan observasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah uji hipotesis menggunakan paired sample t-test. Hasil penelitian ini sebagai berikut: 1) penerapan pendekatan saintifik dengan grup investigation meningkatkan hasil belajar matematika siswa; 2) pembelajaran menggunakan  pendekatan saintifik dengan grup investigation dapat mendukung kemampuan problem solving, communication, dan collaboration.  The aims of this research  were to: 1) analyze the effect of learning using a scientific approach with group investigation on students' mathematics learning outcomes; 2) analyze the effect of learningusing a scientific approach with group investigation on problem solving, communication, and collaboration abilities. The type of research is an experimental with a quantitative approach. The subjects of this research is class VIIIB SMP Bopkri 1 Yogyakarta totaling 20 students. The data collection techniques in the research were test, questionnaire, and observation. The data analysis technique used ishypothesis testing using paired sample t-test. The results of this research  are as follows: 1) the apliplication of the scientific approach with the grup investigation improves studenst’ mathematicslearning outcomes; 2) learning using a scientific approach with the grup investigation can support problem solving, communication, and collaboration abilities.
