Abstract

Mathematics as a branch of science that cannot be separated from human life. Without realizing it, human activities do not escape the use of mathematical concepts in it, one of which is culture that often contains elements of mathematics. Ethnomathematics is a mathematical concept embodied in culture. Ethnomathematics is the link between culture, mathematics and education. This study aims to examine Pandeglang Batik which is associated with the cultivation of student character. This research was conducted with descriptive qualitative method to describe the mathematical values and characters contained in Batik Pandeglang. From the research results obtained mathematical concepts in the form of flat shapes, translations, reflections, dilations and rotations on the Pandeglang batik motif. Through this learning can shape the character of students in accordance with the personality of the Indonesian nation

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of projectbased learning model to the communication skills of students on the concept of biodiversity. The method used is a quasi-experimental design with randomized control group only. This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 5 Kota Serang class X academic year 2011/2012. The sampling technique used in this research were cluster random sampling. Data retrieval research using the assessment presentations and reports. Results of the research is the average value of communication skills of students in the experimental class is 68.4% (good) and the control class is 45.8% (approximately). Based on t-test obtained tcount (8.545) ≥ ttable (2,002) or significance 0.002> 0.05. It can be concluded that there is significant implementation project based learning model on the concept of biodiversity to the communication skills of students of SMAN 5 Serang.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the lack of development of innovative contextual-based learning media. The aims of this research were (1) to develop a food theme science bulletin as an energy source based on Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) which is oriented towards critical thinking skills, and (2) to determine the feasibility level of a food theme science bulletin as an energy source based on Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) which is oriented towards critical thinking skills. The method used was research and development of a 4-D model modified by Thiagaradjan. The research was conducted in 3 stages: define, design, and develop. The instrument used was a validation sheet which is validated by expert lecturers and junior high school science teachers. The results showed that (1) the process of developing a science bulletin was carried out using three stages of the 4-D model, such as define, namely problem identification, design, namely producing products and instruments, and developing stage, namely obtaining product feasibility, (2) feasibility level of food science bulletins. as an energy source based on Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) oriented to critical thinking skills, it gets a very decent category from material experts and media experts, each getting a percentage of 87.48%, for material experts and 91.40% for media experts. Based on the overall validation value, if on average it gets a percentage of 89.44% in the very feasible category, so that science bulletins can be used as learning media and can be tested in science learning in schools.

Abstract

Science education-based local media on the carbon footprint subject was developed in order to demonstrate the creation and description of the learning media that have been prepared. There are three stages in the R&D process: define, design, and development. The R&D approach is based on Thiagarajan et al. (1974)'s development model. In-depth interviews and expert-led validity tests are undertaken using a variety of instrument. Descriptive quantitative and qualitative analyses were performed on the data. The results of this study obtained a score of 93.8% (very feasible) in terms of feasibility, 98.4% (very feasible) in the presentation aspect, 94.3% (very feasible) in the graphic aspect, and 99.7% (very feasible). in the language aspect. So that when viewed as a whole, the aspect obtained a value of 96.5% with very feasible criteria.

Abstract

At the junior hight school level in carrying out the science learning process, the teacher only applies the lecture method which only provides theory and does not carry put pratical so that students alack interest in learning. This result in the low active participation of students in learning activities and learning outcomes are less satisfactory. As an alternative to overcome partical problems and foster interest in learning, a virtual laboratory based on guided inquiry was developed with the theme of objects around us. The virtual laboratory is validated by experts, namely material experts, media and pratitioners to obtain validity data used in the learning process. The research method used is Research and Development  with reference to the development model of Thiagarajan (1974) which was modified in 3 stage. The instruments used are interview sheets and validation sheets. The results of the validity level of guided inquiry-based virtual laboratory with the theme of objects around us obtainded an average value of 92,67% with the ‘very valid’.  Based on this assessment, a guided inquiry-based virtual laboratory with the theme of objects around us in fostering interest in learning for students can be applied in learning activities.

Abstract

Learning activities that lead to creative thinking skills have not been fully implemented.. Creative thinking skills can be trained by developing teaching materials in the form of E-Worksheet which is able to train students' reasoning abilities. The open-ended problem approach is able to direct students to solve problems in various ways. So that the E-Worksheet based on open ended problems is able to give students the freedom to describe the results of creative analysis to solve problems. The purpose of this study is to measure the level of validity of the E-Worksheet based on the open ended problem of the global warming theme to train the creative thinking skills of grade VII students. The method used is research and development or Research and Development (R&D) with the 4D research and development model by Thiagarajan (1975) which is modified as needed by being limited to the development stage until the product validation test. The instrument used is a validation questionnaire sheet that has been tested by instrument experts to determine the level of validity of the developed E-Worksheet. Data were analyzed descriptively quantitatively and qualitatively. The results showed that the level of validity of the E-LKPD based on the open ended problem of the global warming theme obtained a value of 89,1% with the "very valid" category. The results of the assessment are based on the average value of material experts, media experts, and expert practitioners.

Abstract

Scientific literacy is the answer to prepare students to face the challenges of the 21st century. The resulting e-booklet product with the theme of food security based on science literacy is an alternative solution to improve students scientific literacy skills. The food security e-booklet contains food sources, substances contained in food and food processing methods which are compiled based on the integration of aspects of scientific literacy and problem based learning models. The research method used is the 4D development model developed by S. Thiagarajan, et al. (1974). However, the research on the development of this e-booklet was modified according to needs, consisting of the define, design, and develop stages. The assessment was carried out using a validation questionnaire that was assessed by a team of experts with two science education lecturers and one science teacher. The results of this study obtained the average value of the feasibility of the e-booklet on the theme of food security based on scientific literacy as a whole with a percentage of 84% in the very feasible category. Therefore, this e-booklet with the theme of food security reflects students' scientific literacy as a whole and is suitable for use.  Keywords: e-booklet, scientific literacy, food security, problem based learning models

Abstract

Development of Student Worksheets (LKPD) Based on Science Process Skills (KPS) The theme of Air Pollution to Develop Critical Thinking Skills for Junior High School Students aims to present the results of the development and describe the feasibility level of the LKPD that has been made. The research method used is the innovative work of an item or Research and Development (RD) and the 4-D model created by Thiagarajan et al., (1974) in which there are four phases of research and development, but in this case it only concentrates on 3 stages. , especially the definition stage (Define), the planning stage (Design), and the development stage (Develop). The expert validation questionnaire instrument sheet was used to test the feasibility of a product and was evaluated by two expert lecturers and two science educators. Information dissected descriptively qualitatively and quantitatively. The results of the development of LKPD Based on Science Process Skills with the Theme of Air Pollution to Develop Critical Thinking Skills for Junior High School Students, which were viewed from the expert's assessment, scored 80.25% and were included in the proper category. Thus, the LKPD based on science process skills developed is suitable for use at the junior high school level.Keywords: Student Worksheet, Science Process Skills, Air Pollution, Critical Thinking Ability, and Junior High School.

Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui apakah SDIT Al-Jihad Pedes Karawang sudah mengimplementasikan atau menerapkan etnosains dan mendeskripsikan penerapan etnosains dalam pembelajaran IPA di SDIT Al-Jihad Pedes Karawang. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif metode deskriptif kualitatif. Instrumen penelitian dengan menggunakan angket, pedoman wawancara, dengan subjek yang diteliti yaitu guru kelas IV, V dan VI dan Kepala Sekolah SDIT Al-Jihad Pedes Karawang. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian didapatkan bahwa dari aspek pertama yaitu perencanaan pembelajaran IPA yang berbasis etnosains di kelas IV, V, dan VI masih belum terencana, hal ini terlihat dalam bentuk fisik RPP guru. Aspek yang kedua yaitu implementasi atau penerapan pembelajaran IPA berbasis etnosains di kelas tinggi (kelas IV, V, dan VI) terlaksana walaupun dalam RPP tidak tertuliskan. Contohnya dalam kegiatan pembelajaran IPA, guru menghubungkan serta memberikan contoh materi dengan kebudayaan lokal, lingkungan, serta keadaan sosial yang berada di lingkungan sekitar. Aspek ketiga yaitu dari proses evaluasi dalam penerapan pembelajaran IPA berbasis etnosains yaitu disesuaikan dengan kurikulum 2013 (kognitif, afektif, dan psikomotor). Abstract This study was conducted with the aim of knowing whether SDIT Al-Jihad Pedes Karawang has implemented or applied ethnoscience and describes the application of ethnoscience in science learning at SDIT Al-Jihad Pedes Karawang. The type of research used is a qualitative descriptive qualitative research method. The research instrument used a questionnaire, an interview guide, with the subjects studied, namely grade IV, V and VI teachers and the Principal of SDIT Al-Jihad Pedes Karawang. Based on the results of the study, it was found that from the first aspect, ethnoscience-based science learning planning in grades IV, V, and VI is still not planned, this can be seen in the physical form of the teacher's lesson plans. The second aspect is the implementation or application of ethnoscience-based science learning in high grades (grades IV, V, and VI) even though the lesson plans are not written down. For example, in science learning activities, the teacher connects and provides examples of material with local culture, the environment, and social conditions in the surrounding environment. The third aspect is from the evaluation process in the application of ethnoscience-based science learning, which is adjusted to the 2013 curriculum (cognitive, affective, and psychomotor).

Abstract

Kegiatan pembelajaran di sekolah yang ditujukan untuk membangun kemampuan problem solving siswa belum sepenuhnya terlaksana secara optimal. Kemampuan problem solving siswa dapat dibangun dengan mengembangkan e-modul yang disusun berbasis inquiry science issues. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu menganalisis tingkat kelayakan e-modul berbasis inquiry science issues untuk membangun kemampuan problem solving siswa pada tema pencemaran lingkungan. Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian pengembangan, terdiri dari 3 tahap yaitu pendefinisian, perancangan, dan pengembangan. Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu lembar angket validasi ahli. Hasil validasi tingkat kelayakan e-modul berbasis inquiry science issues tema pencemaran lingkungan oleh ahli materi memperoleh persentase sebesar 88,33% (sangat layak), ahli media memperoleh 85,22% (sangat layak), dan ahli praktisi memperoleh 98,88% (sangat layak). Secara keseluruhan, disimpulkan bahwa e-modul berbasis inquiry science issues tema pencemaran lingkungan dalam membangun kemampuan problem solving siswa dinilai sangat layak (90,81%).
