Abstract

The purpose of the research is to find out and analyze the suitability of the crew and management perception related to work safety, protection of the marine environment and implementation of the ships’ operation using the International Safety Management Code in PT. Lautan Jaya Hasana. The main problem of the research is the lack of understanding and awareness of the crew and management of the importance to implement the ISM Code for work safety and to protect the marine environment. The ISM Code has not been implemented properly. This study used a Descriptive Qualitative method. There were 20 statements on understanding variables and actual implementation variables that were tested for validity and reliability. The samples were taken from 35 crew members from two types of bulk carriers by conducting in-depth interview with the crew members and the management employees. The result shows that most of the crew members, including the captain and the management of the company perform the same perception regarding the work safety, the protection of marine environment and the implementation of the International Safety Management Code for ships operation with a significant average difference and a perceived value of 9.20 between perceived understanding and actual implementation.

Abstract

The main problem of the national tanker company, Pertamina Trans Kontinental, is the low productivity of the ship’s crew. The purpose of the study is to find out the performance of the crew commitment, crew motivation and work facilities to improve the company’s work productivity. The data were obtained by interviewing five experts. Questionnaires were distributed to ten people of five experts and five employees of Pertamina Trans Continental. The data, then, were analyzed using AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process). The results of the study show that some employees still need special guidance and supervision to increase their motivation and commitment and the ship facilities should also be increased. The results of the analysis using AHP show that the highest priority can be seen in work motivation factor and then followed by work commitment and work facilities.

Abstract

This study is aimed at identifying the main problem in the TOD (Transit Oriented Development) area of Cikunir 2 LRT Station, namely, the lack of accessibility and adequate connectivity, especially for pedestrians and users of mass public transportation, due to the concept and infrastructure that is not optimal. The study was conducted for two months, from May to June 2023, using field observations and institutional interviews. The preliminary survey was conducted to obtain primary and secondary data, which were then processed using the analysis of the walkability, accessibility, and connectivity index. The results of this analysis are expected to provide insight into the development of access and connectivity in the area. The resulting recommendations include the provision of barrier-free pedestrian paths and separation from motor vehicles. The provision of safe crossing facilities, and increased safety through lighting and disturbance reporting instruments are also suggested. In addition, the arrangement of activity functions along the pedestrian path, improved cleanliness, air circulation, and visual attraction are suggested. Furthermore, studies on the behavioral dynamics between pedestrian and vehicle, the integration of smart technologies to enhance walkability and the environmental and health benefits of improved pedestrian infrastructure could provide valuable insights. Research on institutional integration and financial management for urban development projects would also help in optimizing the implementation of these improvements for safer and more accessible urban spaces.

Abstract

Safety behavior is crucial to reducing the potential for ship accidents. Therefore, the research focuses on investigating and finding an empirical model of the influence of safety competence and safety culture on crew safety behavior through safety awareness. The research uses a quantitative approach with survey methods and causal design. The sample was 250 crew members. The research instrument used was a questionnaire designed as a Likert scale with five options for responses. The questionnaire was distributed in Google Form format via the WhatsApp application. The data were analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM). The research results show that safety competence, safety culture, and safety awareness have a significant effect on safety behavior; safety competence and safety culture have a significant effect on safety awareness; and safety competence and safety culture significantly affect safety behavior through safety awareness. These findings promote a new empirical model of the effect of safety competence and safety culture on crew safety behavior through safety awareness. This new model deserves critical discussion by researchers, academics, and practitioners before being adopted, adapted, or modified for their future work in the future.

Abstract

Contextual performance is of paramount importance within organizational settings, thereby necessitating a heightened focus on its manifestation. Therefore, this research aims to determine the influence of ethical leadership on contextual performance with good corporate governance (GCG) mediation. The sample comprised 325 employees engaged in the consumer goods, finance, trade, services, and investment sectors in Indonesia. The method of data collection employed a questionnaire utilizing a Likert scale. The analytical approach utilized structural equation modeling grounded in Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS), complemented by descriptive and correlational analyses. The findings of the research indicate that ethical leadership exerts a direct influence on both GCG and contextual performance, that GCG directly affects contextual performance, and that ethical leadership indirectly impacts contextual performance via GCG. This evidence substantiates a novel empirical framework concerning the effect of ethical leadership on employee contextual performance via GCG. This framework is posited to serve as a basis for stimulating discourse among scholars and researchers, while also acknowledging the existing limitations.
