Abstract

This research focused on analyzing the potential impact of petroleum products spill (gasoline and diesel fuels) on soil fertility quality around PERTAMINA Rewulu-Cilacap Pipeline Bantul, Yogyakarta. The objectives of this study were to analyze the change of soil fertility parameters that are contaminated by gasoline and diesel fuel oils, compared to uncontaminated soil as control. Soil samples were collected from Pertamina Rewulu-Cilacap around the pipeline. Some physico-chemical properties that reflect soil fertility were determined using standard physico-chemical methods and Total Petroleum Hydrocarbon (TPH) using Gas Chromatography. Soil samples were divided into three points (I, II, and III) based on taken places. The study started with analysis of physical and chemical properties of the soil, then petroleum products (gasoline and diesel) were added to the soil samples. The contaminated soil and control then analyzed for identify the fertility quality and TPH content. The results showed that petroleum product contamination increases N, P, and reduces K concentrations in the soil. The sample in point III had the highest values of TPH concentration without any additional petroleum products. After addition of a dose of 13% gasoline, the concentration of TPH in point I, II, and III increased by 0.036%, 0.08% and 0.008%. With the addition of 15% diesel in the sample, the TPH concentration of point I, II, and III increased by 0.892 %, 1.198%, and 0.91%.

Abstract

Adsorption-desorption studies of phosphate on CTAB modified bentonite have been investigated. The results were characterized by FT-IR spectrometer to determine the functional groups in bentonite and X-ray diffractometer to determine the type of minerals in the bentonite. Adsorption was conducted by shaking 10 mg adsorbent in 5 mL adsorbate solution at the optimum condition of pH, contact time, and concentration. Furthermore, desorption studies were conducted on 5 mL medium of both water and citric acid 0.33 M and using 6.5 mg of adsorbent which has adsorbed phosphate. The results showed that the bentonite has been successfully modified with CTAB. The adsorption capacity of phosphate is 0.028 mmol g-1. Desorption studies showed that the solubility percentage of phosphate anion in citric acid was 0.33 M (73.33%) greater than in water (57.81%) which is a requirement for the use of slow-release fertilizers (SRF).

Abstract

This work developed a selectively modified electrode for measuring the Fe(II) ions in continuous integration using voltammetry techniques. The study assessed various aspects, such as linearity, scan rate, repeatability, and real sample analysis. The experiment is performed using differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). The findings of the study indicated that the voltammetry method exhibited a regression line of y = 36.507 ln(x) + 990.73, with a correlation value of 0.9627, with an optimum scan rate of 20 mV/s and good repeatability over five times measurement. On the other hand, when comparing the results using the UV-Vis spectrophotometric technique, the regression equation was found to be y = 0.20438x − 0.06987, with a correlation value of 0.99583. Notably, the voltammetry measurement outperformed the UV-Vis method since it allowed analysis of Fe(II) at concentrations up to 6.35 × 10−4 ppm (or 1.00 × 10−11 M), while the UV-vis measurement could only analyze up to 1.5 ppm (or 2.36 × 10−5 M). Consequently, the developed technique proves to be superior to the other methods for the analysis of Fe(II).

Abstract

Toxicity test of zinc on contaminated soil by petroleum products around the Pertamina Rewulu-Cilacap pipeline, Bantul, Yogyakarta by using mung bean (Vigna radiata) and water spinach (Ipomoea aquatica) have been studied. This study aims to investigate the physico-chemical properties, adsorption, and desorption of soil samples, and the effect of Zn toxicity on the growth of mung bean and water spinach. The physico-chemical properties were evaluated including moisture content, ash content, pH, conductivity, total organic carbon, cation exchange capacity, and heavy metal content. In addition, total petroleum hydrocarbon was analyzed by using GC-MS, and samples were characterized by using FTIR and XRD. The adsorption and desorption capacities of Zn were determined by an atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS) measurement. Toxicity test was conducted on the growth of mung bean and water spinach. This study showed that soil sample point III had the highest Zn content at 632.26 mg kg−1. Adsorption isotherms of zinc metal followed the Langmuir isotherm model and maximum adsorption occurred at 100 mg kg−1. Optimum desorption takes place at the concentration of citrate acid 0.7 mol L−1 and at pH 3. Toxicity test results revealed that zinc metal at high concentrations was found to be toxic to seedling growth.

Abstract

Flipbooks are interesting reference books for student learning. The integration of digital media in education has become crucial in the digital age, and flipbooks have gained popularity as an interactive tool. This systematic literature review investigates the effectiveness and implementation of flipbooks in science education from 2017 to 2024. This study employed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) method. We reviewed journal articles indexed in Scopus and Sinta, focusing on the use of flipbooks in science education. Our review highlights the effectiveness of flipbooks in improving student engagement, motivation, and learning outcomes in science education. The flipbook's interactive features, such as multimedia elements and simulations, have proven to support diverse learning styles. The adoption of flipbooks in science education shows promise for enhancing the digital literacy of students and educators. However, further empirical research is required to understand its long-term impacts and the best strategies for implementation.

Abstract

This literature review aims to analyze the forms of scaffolding strategies and their learning media used in inquiry-based learning (PBI). Scaffolding is a type of guidance given to students in the learning process with many types and strategies that are adapted to their learning objectives. the right scaffolding strategy will improve learning outcomes. Therefore, it is necessary to do a literature review to be able to determine the scaffolding strategy to be used. The study was conducted on 43 research articles that had been published from 2015 to 2022. These articles were selected based on the systematic steps of determining study questions, selecting publications, filtering articles based on keywords. Furthermore, the selected articles were reviewed with the aid of Atlasti.9. The results of this study concluded that the question prompt is a common strategy in guiding students to inquiry. Some of the media used to help students are worksheets and computer-assisted media.

Abstract

The removal of Co(II) ions using Fe-MCM-41 adsorbent was studied. Fe-MCM-41 was synthesized by the sonochemical method and then interacted with solutions containing Co(II) ions at various concentrations. The Langmuir equation indicated monolayer adsorption could be well-fitted for the adsorption isotherms. The maximum adsorption capacity of Co(II) ions on Fe-MCM-41 was 62.89 mg/g. Therefore, it could be conclude that the concentration of Co(II) ions in an aqueous solution can be reduced by using Fe-MCM-41 adsorbent.
