Abstract

Romanticism, Ideology, and Marriage within the IMM Organization of West Nusa Tenggara Abstract   This article examines the practices of romantic relationships and marriage within the Ikatan Mahasiswa Muhammadiyah (IMM) of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) as a social phenomenon imbued with ideological values. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, this study seeks to address two main research questions: first, how the ideology embraced by IMM cadres in West Nusa Tenggara shapes romantic relationships; and second, what challenges are encountered in romantic relationships among IMM cadres in the region. The article explores how interpersonal relations among members particularly between immawan and immawati are guided by the spirit of dakwah, the ideology of Progressive Islam (Islam Berkemajuan), and a commitment to Muhammadiyah’s organizational values. Romantic relationships within IMM NTB are not perceived as free or purely emotional engagements but rather as instruments for strengthening movement solidarity and the cadre formation process. Marriage is positioned as the culmination of ideological maturity, a symbol of value regeneration, and the manifestation of dakwah within the domestic sphere. However, these dynamics also face challenges, including tensions between ideological idealism and social realities, as well as the risk of internal exclusivism. This article demonstrates that personal relationships within IMM NTB reflect a dialectical interaction between ideology, organizational culture, and individual experience, and constitute an important arena for shaping cadres’ identities as agents of social change.

Abstract

This study examines the factors behind the imposition of Military Emergency Status in Aceh between 1998 and 2005, a period marked by prolonged armed conflict between the Government of Indonesia and the Free Aceh Movement. The article aims to explain why the state ultimately resorted to military emergency rule by analyzing the interaction of geographic, economic, and political conditions that shaped the conflict. Using a qualitative library-based research design, the study relies on historical analysis of books, academic articles, official regulations, and credible reports related to the Aceh conflict. The collected materials are critically reviewed, categorized, and interpreted to reconstruct the policy context and conflict dynamics leading to the declaration of military emergency. The findings show that Aceh’s strategic geography, particularly in Aceh Timur and surrounding areas, facilitated mobility, logistical access, and cross-regional connections that strengthened armed resistance. Economically, despite abundant natural resources, local communities experienced marginalization, limited participation in resource management, and persistent inequality, which intensified social grievances. Politically, unresolved human rights violations during the previous Military Operations Area period, weak law enforcement, and declining public trust in civilian governance contributed to growing support for the Free Aceh Movement. The failure of peace negotiations and the escalation of violence further reinforced the state’s preference for a security-based approach. In conclusion, the study argues that the Military Emergency Status in Aceh was not a sudden policy choice but the result of accumulated geographic vulnerabilities, economic injustice, and political dissatisfaction. These findings highlight the importance of addressing structural inequalities and political accountability as essential lessons for conflict resolution and sustainable peacebuilding in post-conflict regions.

Abstract

Islamic law is a set of Islamic rules and norms sourced from the Quran and Hadith, coupled with the sources of Islamic law in the form of Ijma' and Qiyas, and the sources of ijtihad that are still debated by scholars in their use in the form of Istihsan, Istislah, Istishab, Maslahah Mursalah, 'Urf, Sar'u Man Qablana, and so on. The history of the birth of Islamic law began with the appointment of Muhammad as the last Prophet and Apostle, and was sent to this earth as the recipient of divine revelation that must be disseminated to his people until the Day of Resurrection arrives. The revelations collected into the Qur'an contain all the rules that are allowed and not allowed to be done as believers. The Quran and Hadith are final even though they can still be interpreted according to the development of the times until now. With the spread of Islam to all corners of the world, Islamic law is also included in it. Islam reached Indonesia at a time when the Hindu-Buddhist kingdoms still ruled Indonesia. Islam was brought peacefully by Arab and Indian traders so that it could be well received by the indigenous people at that time. The implementation of Islamic law in Indonesia has occurred since the birth of Islamic kingdoms until the current modern Indonesian era. This is evidenced by the use of Islamic law as the basis / source of various rules in Indonesia

Abstract

Problems Faced by Migrant Worker Families in Praya Barat District, Central Lombok Regency Abstract From the perspective of Islamic Family Law, the family is considered the basic unit for forming a harmonious society, with the husband as the leader and primary responsible party of the family. However, the reality of migrant workers' families often shows a discrepancy between this normative construction and everyday life practices due to prolonged physical distance and separation. This situation gives rise to various social, psychological, and legal issues that have not been fully addressed in studies on Islamic family law. This research aims to analyze the problems faced by migrant workers' families, particularly concerning the shifting roles of wives, patterns of child-rearing, religious education within the family, the fulfillment of livelihood needs, as well as potential household conflicts and their legal implications. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach with the subjects being wives of migrant workers. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, and data analysis was conducted using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The results of the study indicate that the husband's migration abroad causes the wife to take on dual roles as household manager, primary caregiver for the children, and family decision-maker. This situation creates significant psychological pressure, challenges in fostering the children's religious education, as well as the family's economic dependence on the husband's remittances. In the long term, this situation increases the potential for domestic conflicts and creates opportunities for violations of Islamic Family Law norms. As a response to these conditions, migrant worker families develop various adaptation efforts, including regular long-distance communication, involvement of extended family members in child-rearing, and strengthening religious values in daily life. These adaptation strategies become important to maintain family harmony, economic stability, and the continued application of Islamic Family Law principles within the context of migrant worker families.

Abstract

The limited understanding of students toward local cultural values and the lack of integration of cultural elements in physical education learning have become important issues in elementary and secondary schools. This study aims to analyze the process of internalizing local cultural values through ethnosport-based learning within the context of physical education. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through classroom observations, interviews with Physical Education (PJOK) teachers, and documentation studies of learning activities that utilized traditional games as learning media. The findings indicate that ethnosport-based learning is able to foster character values such as sportsmanship, cooperation, responsibility, and respect for local culture. The integration of ethnosport in physical education not only increases students’ participation in physical activities but also serves as an effective medium for instilling cultural and moral values. The implications of this study suggest that ethnosport-based physical education can become an effective learning strategy to enhance students’ active participation while strengthening cultural identity and character development, thereby supporting the implementation of the Pancasila Student Profile and the reinforcement of national character in the era of globalization.

Abstract

This article reexamines the concept of polygamy in Islam through the perspective of hadith, focusing on the principles of justice and public welfare (maṣlaḥah). Polygamy is often understood in a legalistic manner as a male privilege, yet in practice it frequently generates gender injustice and social problems within the family. This study employs a qualitative library research method using a thematic (mawḍūʿī) approach to hadiths related to polygamy and justice in family relations. The data are analyzed through content analysis by considering both normative religious texts and contemporary social realities. The findings reveal that the hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) consistently emphasize justice and compassion as the fundamental requirements of polygamy, encompassing both outward responsibilities and moral-spiritual dimensions. Polygamy, therefore, is not an absolute right but a serious trust that can only be justified when it truly realizes justice and welfare. This study concludes that polygamous practices leading to injustice contradict the objectives of Islamic law (maqāṣid al-sharīʿah), and thus the interpretation of polygamy should shift from mere legal permissibility toward an ethical framework grounded in justice and mercy.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study aims to explore Jean-Paul Sartre’s existentialist perspective on human existence, emphasizing radical freedom and the responsibility of individuals in defining their own meaning in life. The research investigates how Sartre's concept of existentialism positions humans as autonomous subjects in constructing their essence. Methodology: This study employs a qualitative descriptive-analytical approach, utilizing a literature review method. The primary sources include Sartre’s major works, such as Being and Nothingness, along with secondary analyses from contemporary existentialist scholars. Data are analyzed through content analysis to examine Sartre’s views on freedom, responsibility, and self-determination. Main Findings: The findings reveal that Sartre perceives human existence as devoid of inherent meaning, compelling individuals to create their own purpose through conscious choices. His concept of bad faith illustrates the tendency to escape from existential responsibility, whereas authentic existence requires embracing radical freedom. Sartre’s framework highlights the psychological tension between autonomy and existential anxiety. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study offers a fresh interpretation of Sartre’s existentialism by relating his views to contemporary issues of identity, freedom, and personal responsibility. It extends the discussion of existentialist ethics in modern society and provides a deeper analysis of Sartre’s influence on current philosophical and social discourses on human autonomy.
