Abstract

Interest in writing poetry among junior high school students remains a significant issue in Indonesian language learning, including at Nommensen Middle School in Jambi. Low interest in writing poetry is seen as a significant issue because it is a creative literacy skill that plays a role in Indonesian language learning. This study aims analyze the factors causing low interest in writing poetry among eighth-grade students at Nommensen Middle School in Jambi. This study used a descriptive qualitative research method with a single case study approach. The research subjects consisted of eighth-grade students and Indonesian language teachers at Nommensen Middle School in Jambi. Data were obtained through observation, structured interviews, and documentation. The results showed that students' interest in writing poetry was low, as evidenced by their passive attitudes during the learning process, lack of interest in poetry writing assignments, and minimal effort by students to understand the elements of poetry. Internal factors influencing low interest include lack of self-confidence, limited vocabulary, and a weak understanding of the elements of poetry. External factors include teachers' predominantly lecture-based learning methods, underutilization of learning media, and peer influence that distracts students from focusing. This study concludes that low interest in writing poetry is the result of an interaction between internal factors and the learning environment.

Abstract

This qualitative study aims to identify and analyze how Early Childhood Education teachers in Jambi construct meanings and implement early childhood sex education through Jambi Malay local wisdom and Islamic values. Sex education for young children is positioned as a preventive, value-based effort to protect children from sexual violence while helping them develop developmentally appropriate understandings of the body and personal boundaries. A qualitative design focusing on teachers’ perceptions is used to capture their interpretations and practical considerations in delivering sexuality-related learning within PAUD settings grounded in culture and religion. This approach aligns with previous studies on PAUD educators’ knowledge and attitudes toward early childhood sex education, which emphasize the importance of teacher parent communication and sociocultural mediation in implementation. Data were collected from four teachers purposively selected from two PAUD institutions in Jambi and were analyzed thematically to build interpretive patterns, consistent with research that treats teachers’ perspectives as key to understanding how sex education is delivered and received in Islamic preschool contexts. The analysis produced two main findings: (1) teachers frame early childhood sex education as urgent for child protection and moral formation, interpreting modesty, privacy, and the principle of “adat bersendi syarak” (custom founded upon Islamic law) as a dynamic framework for age-appropriate learning, and (2) teachers operationalize this meaning through culturally relevant, child-friendly strategies such as storytelling, play-based learning routines, and habituation of boundary-setting. These findings indicate that values and norms are socialized through everyday practices and that culturally rooted media and traditional games can function as effective pedagogical vehicles in Early Childhood Education. The study implies that strengthening culturally responsive teacher competence and structured collaboration with parents is necessary to reduce misconceptions, improve message consistency, and sustain preventive impact.TRANSLATE with x EnglishArabicHebrewPolishBulgarianHindiPortugueseCatalanHmong DawRomanianChinese SimplifiedHungarianRussianChinese TraditionalIndonesianSlovakCzechItalianSlovenianDanishJapaneseSpanishDutchKlingonSwedishEnglishKoreanThaiEstonianLatvianTurkishFinnishLithuanianUkrainianFrenchMalayUrduGermanMalteseVietnameseGreekNorwegianWelshHaitian CreolePersian //  TRANSLATE with COPY THE URL BELOW Back EMBED THE SNIPPET BELOW IN YOUR SITE Enable collaborative features and customize widget: Bing Webmaster PortalBack//

Abstract

The rapid development of technology in the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 and the twenty-first century has significantly transformed the way humans communicate, think, and interact. Language, as the primary medium of communication, has expanded beyond transmitting messages. It now serves as the foundation for digital identity formation, media literacy, and mastery of twenty-first-century competencies, including critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication. This study aims to analyze the roles and functions of language in modern human life and identify the linguistic challenges that emerge in the digital era. Using a literature study method with a qualitative descriptive approach based on document analysis following Sugiyono’s guidelines, this research reveals that language holds a strategic position in education, society, and technology. Language supports information processing, social relationship building, and individual adaptation to global environments. However, several challenges arise, such as the excessive use of abbreviations and digital symbols that lead to ambiguity, low levels of digital literacy, and increasing risks of misinformation and misinterpretation in cross-cultural communication. The study concludes that strengthening language and digital literacy is essential to ensure that individuals can effectively adapt to technological changes and maintain ethical, clear, and meaningful communication in the digital age.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to examine the crucial role of morphological literacy in fostering critical thinking skills among elementary school students within Indonesian language learning. The phenomenon of Indonesia's low literacy rankings based on PISA data provides the background for the urgency of this research, suggesting a need for language structure teaching strategies that can stimulate cognitive development. Using the Narrative Literature Review (NLR) method through a qualitative approach, this research synthesizes various scientific literatures to dissect the correlation between morphological awareness and critical thinking sharpness. The findings show that morphological literacy particularly the mastery of affixation and reduplication serves as a cognitive foundation that enables students to deconstruct meaning beyond textual understanding. This analytical process toward word structure encourages the development of inferential and evaluative thinking skills, which are the main pillars of critical thinking. This study concludes that strengthening morphological literacy within contextual learning is a strategic instrument to enhance students' intellectual capacity in facing future information complexities.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of regional languages on the use of Indonesian among elementary school students. The background of this research is the strong dominance of regional languages as students’ first language, which often affects their use of Indonesian as a second language in formal learning contexts. This study aims to analyze the forms of interference and identify the factors influencing students’ language use. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach using a literature study method, which involves analyzing and synthesizing relevant sources such as journals, books, and official documents. The findings indicate that regional languages significantly affect students’ Indonesian usage in several linguistic aspects, including phonology, morphology, syntax, and vocabulary. Common forms of interference include code-mixing, inaccurate sentence structures, and pronunciation influenced by regional accents. However, regional languages also play a positive role as a bridge in understanding learning materials, especially at the early stages of education. Therefore, balanced language management is needed in the learning process. Teachers play a crucial role in guiding students to use Indonesian properly while still appreciating their regional language as part of cultural identity. This study highlights the importance of contextual and bilingual learning strategies to support students’ language development effectively.

Abstract

Psycholinguistic Analysis of Indonesian Morphology Acquisition in Elementary School Children: Cognitive Factors and Learning Environment is a literature study examining the development of Indonesian morphology in children aged 7-12 through a psycholinguistic lens. Employing a literature review methodology from Google Scholar, this research analyzes the interaction between cognitive factors (working memory, phonological awareness, metalinguistic awareness) and learning environments (home, school, digital media) in acquiring affixation, reduplication, and compounding. Key findings reveal a gradual progression: imitation in grades 1-2, generalization of inflectional affixes (me-, di-) in grades 3-4, and abstraction of derivational forms (pe-an) in grades 5-6. Cognitive factors accelerate the process by up to 40%, while rich narrative environments boost morphological vocabulary by 25-30%. Challenges include local dialect interference (Palembang, Javanese), overcrowded classrooms, and pandemic-induced limitations on verbal interaction. Practical recommendations include interactive teaching modules based on local folktales for the Merdeka Curriculum, teacher training in metalinguistic approaches, and home-school linkages. Theoretically, the study enriches models of agglutinative language acquisition in multilingual Indonesia, aligning with Krashen and Vygotsky theories. The primary contribution fills domestic research gaps to enhance elementary literacy, supporting SDG 4. Future research suggestions: empirical studies with eye-tracking post-pandemic.

Abstract

his study aims to examine the politeness of language used by elementary school students from a pragmatic perspective. The focus of the study includes forms of language politeness, types of politeness violations, and factors influencing students’ language use in communication within the school environment. The research employs a literature study method with a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were obtained from various secondary sources such as books, academic journals, and previous research relevant to pragmatics and language politeness. Data analysis was conducted using content analysis by identifying, classifying, and synthesizing research findings. The results indicate that elementary school students have a basic understanding of language politeness, such as the use of polite expressions and the ability to adjust language based on the interlocutor. However, violations of politeness are still frequently found, particularly in the use of overly direct language and the lack of respectful expressions. Family, school, and digital media environments play significant roles in shaping students’ language behavior. Therefore, contextual learning and continuous habituation of polite language use are necessary. This study contributes to the development of pragmatic studies and serves as a foundation for improving language learning quality in elementary schools. Abstract

This study examines the similarities and differences of Nusantara languages within a cultural context. Indonesia is known for its rich linguistic diversity, where each regional language reflects the identity, values, and local wisdom of its speakers. The purpose of this research is to analyze how these languages share common features while also demonstrating distinct characteristics influenced by cultural backgrounds. This study employs a qualitative approach using a literature review method, collecting data from books, scientific journals, and relevant research articles. The findings indicate that Nusantara languages exhibit similarities in basic vocabulary, sentence structure, and cultural expressions, which suggest historical connections and shared cultural values. However, significant differences are found in phonology, lexicon, and grammatical systems, shaped by geographical conditions, social interactions, and cultural developments. Furthermore, language plays a crucial role in preserving cultural heritage, including traditions, norms, and oral literature. In the era of globalization, the use of regional languages is declining, particularly among younger generations, posing a threat to their sustainability. Therefore, efforts such as education, documentation, and the use of digital media are essential for language preservation. This study highlights the importance of understanding linguistic diversity as a means to strengthen cultural identity and promote mutual respect among different communities in Indonesia.
