Abstract

The Contextual Teaching And Learning approach is a learning concept that helps teachers relate the material taught to students' real-world situations and encourages the knowledge they have with its application in their daily lives. The main objective of this study was to obtain data on physics learning outcomes and to determine the effect of the Contextual Teaching And Learning approach on students' physics learning outcomes in class VIII semester II of SMP Negeri 2 Kutacane. This study was conducted in class VIII semester II of SMP Negeri 2 Kutacane on the subject of Sound. The population of this study was all 200 class VIII students, while the research sample was 40 people. In this study, the normality test of the scores of the student groups who received the Contextual Teaching And Learning approach each obtained a price of L o = 0.1179 , while L = 0.190 and the Direct Instruction learning model (Direct Learning) L o = 0.9871, L = 0.190 means that the two sample groups above come from a normally distributed population. For the F test, the F count value = 4.28 and F table = 18.05 or F count < F table means that both samples are homogeneous. From the calculation results, t count = 5.47 and t table = 1.68 means t count > t table , so the hypothesis is accepted. In other words, the data shows that the learning outcomes of students from the group that received teaching with the Contextual Teaching And Learning approach were better than the learning outcomes given Direct learning.

Abstract

Guava leaves have been used as antidiarrhea, antioxidant, aniinflamation, and antimicrobial. The results of its preliminary phytochemical analysis showed the presence of tannins, flavonoids, steroids and saponins. This leaves also contain essential oil such as sineol. Utilization of guava leaves as a mouthwash preparation is an alternative to replace the mouthwash preparations which generally contain antiseptic form of alcohol that can lead to oral cancer. This experiment formulated the extract of guava leaves into mouthwash that fulfill the physical requirements and determine the differences of antimicrobial activity against the growth of Streptococcus mutans with concentration of extract : 2,5 %; 3% and 3,5 %. Antibacterial acivity test was using MHA media with agar diffusion method. Physical requirement test included organoleptic, pH and viscosity test. The result showed that the mouthwash preparation of guava leaves extract has a pH value outside the range of the optimum growth of bacteria (pH=5). The viscosity of the mouthwash was 1,328-1,347 cP. The antibacterial activity of Streptococcus mutans on F1 has inhibition zone of 3,15 mm, F2 (3,83 mm) and F3 (4,32 mm). It was concluded that the extract of guava leaves on concentrations of 2,5%; 3% and 3,5% can be formulated as mouthwashes. The mouthwash fulfilled the physical requirement test such as pH, viscosity and organoleptic test and can inhibit the growth of Streptococcus mutans.

Abstract

Education is a process that takes place continuously and without end, aiming to change human attitudes and behavior so as to produce quality individuals. Language acts as a means of communication used to convey thoughts and feelings through symbols or signs. The ability to speak allows someone to convey ideas or messages orally clearly to others. In a formal context, the use of good and correct Indonesian is very important to convey information accurately. The ability to speak Indonesian has a strategic role because it is the unifying language and is widely used in education. However, in several regions such as Aceh, Madura, West Kalimantan, and Papua, the ability to speak Indonesian is still relatively low. Therefore, this study aims to examine learning methods that can improve students' speaking ability in Indonesian. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach. Based on the literature review, several effective learning methods were found, such as the carousel method, discussion, assignments, utilization of the environment as a learning resource, and audio-visual methods. The results of the study showed that these methods made a significant contribution to improving students' Indonesian speaking skills. In addition, technology has also proven effective in supporting the improvement of good and correct Indonesian speaking skills.
