Abstract

Midwives are one of the health workers utilizing the MCH (Maternal Child Health) handbook which records the data used to prevent infant, under-five, and maternal mortality. This study aimed to investigate factors related to utilization of the MCH handbook data, namely individual, organizational, and operational techniques. Quantitative approach was used in a cross-sectional survey with a structured questionnaire. Thirty-one midwives were selected as the sample from Active Alert Village in Temanggung district with rural and urban area representative consideration. Besides, descriptive data were tabulated, and inferential analysis was conducted by Pearson product-moment correlation. Result showed the rate of MCH Handbook data utilization was 78.54%. Also, data requirement perception, data filling skill, motivation, attitudes of midwives and facilities availablity (p < 0.05) are significantly related. The MCH handbook data utilization was determined by the individual factor, but with no significant relationship to operational and organizational factors except facilities availability. Therefore, efforts are required to improve data utilization by increasing data requirement perception, data filling skills, motivation and midwives attitudes.

Abstract

Introduction: The TCCNI has not been used to conduct a study in Indonesia previously. The researcher has thus conducted a study on technological competency as a caring in nursing instrument Indonesian version (TCCNI_IV).  This study aims to examine the content validity and reliability of the TCCNI_IV. Methods: An exploratory sequential mixed method research design was used in this study. The researcher used closed-ended question asked of five (5) experts on the content of TCCNI-IV. The researcher explored the expert’s opinion about each statement of TCCNI_IV, and they required suggestions for the statements that were not relevant. Furthermore, the researcher analyzed and rewrote the statements according to the expert’s input. There are twenty-five (25) items in the TCCNI_IV involving technological knowledge and technological caring as an expression of caring in the nursing dimension. Furthermore, the researcher used the TCCNI_IV to gain quantitative data from the 135 nurses in the nursing wards of the hospitals. Based on a finite population of 208 nurses, a total of 135 samples (nurses) participated in the quantitative study. The selection of the participants was through simple random sampling.  There were 135 nurses from the nursing wards in the hospitals (n=135) with experience of at least 1 year in nursing practice. The item content validity (I-CVI) and scale content validity (S-CVI) was tested. The reliability was determined using Cronbach’s alpha α.Results: The “item content validity of the TCCNI_IV ratings ranged from .60 to 1.0. The scale content validity index (S-CVI) was 0.936. The Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of .980 indicates there to be good reliability. Conclusion: The technological competency as a caring in nursing instrument Indonesian version (TCCNI_IV) is thus found to be valid and reliable. It is recommended that the developed instrument needs to be further tested for its reliability and validity in a larger setting.

Abstract

Abstract

ABSTRACTBackgrounds: White oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) is widely cultivated by Indonesian people due to its delicious and nutritious taste. Pleurotus ostreatus contains 18 amino acids that make up the body and antioxidants, including phenolic compounds and ergothioneine. Ergothioneine as a strong antioxidant is an amino acid derived from histidine which has sulfur groups such as cysteine and methionine. The increase in histidine indicates the activity of ergothioneine. Objectives: This study aims to determine the amino acid content of histidine as a predictor of ergothioneine amino acid in the drying and frying process of white oyster mushrooms. Methods: The extraction method used in this study was maceration with 90% ethanol for drying samples and 70% ethanol for frying samples analyzed using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC).Results: The results showed that the histidine content increased with the longer drying time, and decreased with the longer frying time. Drying with a variation of 2 days, 3 days, and 5 days were 674788,802 mg/L; 615302.747 mg/L; and 1946113,494 g / L respectively. Frying with a variation of 2 minutes, 3 minutes, and 5 minutes were 500435,148 mg / L; 232428,391 mg/L; and 0.000 mg / L. On the other hand, the methionine content decreased with the longer drying time, and increased with the longer frying time. Drying with a variation of 2 days, 3 days, and 5 days in a row were 6673,283mg/L; 6671,920 mg/L; and 1876,358 mg / L. Frying with a variation of 2 minutes, 3 minutes, and 5 minutes were 2296,698 mg / L; 1243,911 mg/L; and 34764.534 mg/L.Conclusions: the study concludes that the content of histidine as the highest ergothioneine predictor is at drying for 5 days and frying for 2 days.
