Abstract

Taxpayers bear additional burdens beyond the nominal amount of tax paid, commonly referred to as tax compliance costs. Drawing on information asymmetry theory, this study aims to explore factors that affect tax compliance costs. This study uses convenience sampling techniques to get 122 respondents, entrepreneurs, and independent professionals around Indonesia. Questionnaire sent by word of mouth and social media, using an online questionnaire platform. This study applies Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) the results indicate that tax knowledge, tax information, and tax complexity are significantly associated with tax compliance costs. These findings suggest that low levels of tax knowledge have the potential to increase tax compliance costs. In addition, the complexity of the tax system and unequal access to tax information may further increase the compliance costs. The results of this study provide a basis for policymakers to design a more efficient tax system.

Abstract

Background: Herbal milk formulated with avocado oil and turmeric is a functional beverage with potential health benefits, but its microbiological safety requires evaluation to determine appropriate storage conditions. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the effects of storage temperature and duration on total bacterial count (Total Plate Count/TPC) as well as the presence of Escherichia coli, coliforms, Staphylococcus aureus, and Enterobacteriaceae. Methods: A laboratory experimental design using a factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) was applied, involving two factors: storage temperature (4°C, 25°C, and 40°C) and storage duration (0, 3, and 7 days). Results: The results showed that storage at 4°C effectively affected microbial growth, indicated by a decrease in TPC from 5.51 log CFU/mL to 2.57 log CFU/mL on day 7. In contrast, storage at room temperature (25°C) and elevated temperature (40°C) led to increased microbial activity during the first three days. Conclusion: Overall, storage at 4°C is recommended as the safest condition, with a maximum storage duration of seven days to maintain the microbiological safety and stability of the avocado–turmeric herbal milk.

Abstract

burden of mental health disorders and HIV-related stigma, which critically hinders adherence to antiretroviral therapy (ART). Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) has emerged as a promising evidence-based psychological intervention. However, its effectiveness across diverse populations and delivery formats in LMICs has not been adequately synthesized. This systematic review aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of CBT on mental health and stigma reduction among PLWH in LMICs.  A systematic review was conducted in accordance with the PRISMA guidelines for RCT articles published in Scopus, Science Direct, and PubMed databases between January 1, 2021, to April 9, 2026. The keywords used were “Cognitive Behavioral Therapy” AND “Mental Health OR Stigma” AND “People Living with HIV” OR “Randomized Controlled Trial.” Risk of bias was assessed using the Cochrane Risk of Bias Tool version 2 (RoB 2). Seven RCTs involving 1.786 participants from six LMICs in Africa and one in South Asia were included. All studies consistently reported clinically significant reductions in depressive symptoms and internalized stigma following CBT interventions, regardless of group, individual, or self-administered delivery format, and regardless of whether the intervention was delivered by a mental health specialist or a trained non-specialist. The risk of bias assessment indicated that one study had a low risk of bias, and six studies had some concerns. CBT is an effective, flexible, and scalable intervention for improving mental health and reducing stigma among PLWH in LMICs.

Abstract

Students’ limited ability to establish connections among mathematical concepts remains a persistent challenge, particularly in topics such as relations and functions that require coordination across multiple representations. While Problem-Based Learning (PBL) has been widely adopted, its effectiveness is often constrained by the lack of meaningful contextual grounding. This study aims to examine the effect of ethnomathematics-based PBL on students’ mathematical connection ability and to extend existing research by explaining how culturally contextualized problems support relational understanding. A quasi-experimental design with a pretest–posttest control group structure was employed, involving 99 eighth-grade students divided into two experimental groups and one control group. The experimental groups received ethnomathematics-based PBL, while the control group was taught using conventional PBL. Data were analyzed using non-parametric statistical tests, including the Kruskal–Wallis and Mann–Whitney tests, accompanied by effect size analysis. The results revealed significant differences among groups, with both experimental groups outperforming the control group. The large effect sizes (η² = 0.473; r = 0.75 and 0.69) indicate a substantial impact on students’ ability to coordinate symbolic, graphical, and contextual representations. These findings suggest that ethnomathematical contexts function as cognitive anchors that enable students to map real-world situations onto mathematical structures and reorganize relationships among concepts. This study contributes to the field by demonstrating that the integration of cultural context and structured inquiry not only improves performance but also strengthens the structure of mathematical understanding. Therefore, ethnomathematics-based PBL offers a theoretically grounded and practically scalable approach for enhancing relational thinking in mathematics learning.

Abstract

The Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) is an indicator used to measure a country's health development and is one of the targets in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In Indonesia, the MMR is still relatively high. Various factors are considered to contribute to the high MMR, including inadequate access and quality of antenatal care (ANC) services, delays in seeking and receiving appropriate maternal services, limited availability of birth attendants, socioeconomic tensions, cultural barriers, and inadequate handling of emergency obstetrics. One potential intervention to reduce MMR is by improving the quality of ANC services through various strategies. One such strategy is the provision of Ultrasonography (USG) services in integrated antenatal care at the primary level. However, unfortunately, the availability of USG at primary level health facilities in developing countries like Indonesia is still very limited. This scoping review aims to determine how the availability of USG services can improve the quality of integrated antenatal care at Puskesmas or Primary Level Health Facilities and provide strategic insights for its implementation. The methodology employed in this scoping review involves selecting topics and determining keywords for journal searches using both English and Indonesian languages through two scientific article databases, namely PubMed and Google Scholar. After applying the PRISMA model (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta- analyses), six articles were identified that met the inclusion criteria. The provision of ultrasound services has the potential to enhance the quality of ANC services and should be implemented comprehensively and sustainably. Keywords: Ultrasonography, Primary Health Care, Quality of ANC
