Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of net profit margin (NPM) and debt-to-equity ratio (DER) on return on equity (ROE) in property companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). Previous studies have shown that although NPM has a significant positive effect on ROE, the effect of DER depends on the company's leverage level. Simultaneously, it has been proven that both NPM and DER have a significant effect on ROE. As a result, policies that encourage profit efficiency and a balanced capital structure are likely to be crucial factors in increasing equity profits for companies in the property sector. However, the researchers' findings state that DER has no effect on ROE, while NPM affects ROE in property and real estate companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of the Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) and Loan to Deposit Ratio (LDR) on profit growth in conventional banks in Indonesia during the 2019–2023 period. The data were processed using EViews 12 through panel data regression, which involved data preparation, descriptive statistical testing, normality testing, classical assumption testing, and model selection procedures using the Chow, Hausman, and Lagrange Multiplier (LM) tests. The results show that the Random Effect Model (REM) is the most appropriate panel regression model for this research. The findings indicate that CAR has a positive and significant effect on profit growth, while LDR has a positive but insignificant effect. Simultaneously, both variables significantly influence profit growth with an  R² value of 93.03%, demonstrating strong explanatory power. These results highlight that capital strength plays a crucial role in supporting bank performance, whereas credit distribution effectiveness—represented by LDR—does not significantly drive profit growth during the study period.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of Capital Structure, measured by Debt Equity Ratio (DER), and Corporate Governance, measured by Independent Board of Commissioners (DKI), on Financial Performance, measured by Return on Assets (ROA), in the five largest Islamic banks in Indonesia (BSI, Bank Mega Syariah, Bank Aceh Syariah, Bank Muamalat, and BJB Syariah) during the period 2020-2024. The method used in this study is panel data analysis with a quantitative approach. The data used was taken from the annual financial reports and sustainability reports of each bank. The results of the study show that, overall, DER and DKI have a significant impact on ROA. However, when viewed individually, DER does not have a significant impact, while DKI has a positive and significant effect on ROA. These findings indicate that good corporate governance is an important factor in improving the financial performance of Islamic banks in Indonesia.

Abstract

Financial performance reflects a company's ability to manage its resources efficiently. One commonly used measure of financial performance is Return on Assets (ROA), which indicates a company's ability to generate profits from its total assets. Fundamental factors that can affect ROA include Net Profit Margin (NPM), which reflects a company's ability to generate net profit from sales, and Total Asset Turnover (TATO), which indicates a company's effectiveness in utilizing assets to generate revenue. This study aims to analyze the effect of NPM and TATO on Return on Assets (ROA) as a proxy for financial performance in Industry Metals and Minerals companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The benefits of this study are expected to provide input for company management as well as serving as a reference for investors before making investment decisions. The research method uses a quantitative approach with panel data regression analysis of the company's financial statements during the research period. The results of this study are expected to strengthen empirical evidence regarding the effect of NPM and TATO on ROA as indicators of company financial performance.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of Gross Profit Margin (GPM) and Debt to Equity Ratio (DER) on Return on Assets (ROA) of coal industry companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during the 2020–2024 period. This study applies a quantitative approach with a descriptive research design. The data used are secondary data obtained from annual financial statements and analyzed using panel data regression. Based on the model selection results using the Chow test and Hausman test, the Random Effect Model was selected as the best estimation model. The results show that partially GPM has a positive and significant effect on ROA, while DER has a negative and significant effect on ROA. Simultaneously, GPM and DER have a significant effect on ROA. The R-squared value of 0.653058 indicates that GPM and DER explain 65.31% of the variation in ROA, while the remaining variation is explained by other variables outside the model. This study is expected to provide empirical evidence in analyzing profitability performance in coal industry companies.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of Current Ratio (CR) and Return on Assets (ROA) on Price to Book Value (PBV) in food and beverage sub-sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for the 2020–2024 period. The research method used is a quantitative approach with an associative research type. The data used are secondary data in the form of annual financial reports of companies obtained from the official IDX website and each company. The analysis technique used is panel data regression with a Random Effect Model (REM) estimated using the Generalized Least Square (GLS) method. The results show that partially Current Ratio (CR) has a negative and significant effect on Price to Book Value (PBV), while Return on Assets (ROA) has a positive and significant effect on PBV. Simultaneously, CR and ROA have a significant effect on PBV. The coefficient of determination value of 97.3% indicates that most of the variation in PBV can be explained by CR and ROA, while the remainder is influenced by other variables outside the research model. The results of this study indicate that profitability has a more dominant role than liquidity in determining company value.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of Net Profit Margin (NPM) and Total Asset Turnover (TATO) on Return on Assets (ROA) in pharmaceutical companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the 2020–2024 period. This study uses quantitative methods with secondary data in the form of annual financial reports. The research sample consisted of six companies with a total of 30 observations, analyzed using panel data regression. Based on the results of the model selection test, the best model used was the Random Effects Model (REM). The results show that partially, NPM has a positive and significant effect on ROA, while TATO has no significant effect on ROA. However, simultaneously, NPM and TATO significantly influence ROA. The Adjusted R-squared value of 0.770689 indicates that the independent variables explain 77.07% of the variation in ROA. This study implies that increasing profitability in pharmaceutical companies is more influenced by the ability to generate net income than by asset turnover efficiency.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of dividends and capital structure on firm value in retail companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the 2018–2022 period. The independent variables consist of the Dividend Payout Ratio (DPR) and Debt to Equity Ratio (DER), while firm value is measured using Tobin’s Q (PBV). The sample includes five retail companies: PT Matahari Department Store Tbk (LPPF), PT Ramayana Lestari Santosa Tbk (RALS), PT Ace Hardware Indonesia Tbk (ACES), PT Sumber Alfaria Trijaya Tbk (AMRT), and PT Erajaya Swasembada Tbk (ERAA). The analysis employs a panel data regression model, selected through the Chow Test, Hausman Test, and Lagrange Multiplier Test. All tests indicate that the Random Effect Model (REM) is the most appropriate. Normality assumptions are met, although a high correlation between independent variables indicates potential multicollinearity. The REM results reveal that DPR has a significant positive effect on firm value (p = 0.0006), indicating that higher dividend payments enhance market perception of firm value. Meanwhile, DER shows a significant negative effect (p = 0.0004), suggesting that high leverage reduces firm value. Simultaneously, DPR and DER significantly affect firm value (F-statistic p = 0.004664), with a contribution of 33.03% explained variance. These findings highlight the importance of stable dividend policies and prudent financing decisions to improve firm value in the retail industry, which is highly sensitive to economic changes and consumer demand shifts.

Abstract

The property and real estate sector faced complex challenges in the 2021-2024 period due to post-pandemic recovery and global economic fluctuations. This study aims to analyze the effect of Current Ratio (CR) and Debt to Equity Ratio (DER) on Return on Assets (ROA) in property companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). The research method used is quantitative with a purposive sampling technique, resulting in 10 sample companies with a total of 40 observations during the 2021-2024 period. Data analysis was performed using panel data regression with the selected Random Effect Model (REM). The partial test results (t-test) show that the Current Ratio has no significant effect on ROA with a negative direction. Conversely, the Debt to Equity Ratio has a positive and significant effect on ROA, indicating the effectiveness of using financial leverage in increasing profits. Simultaneously (F-test), CR and DER have a significant effect on ROA. The Adjusted R-squared value of 11.58% shows the contribution of the independent variables in the model, while the rest is influenced by other factors outside the study.

Abstract

Financial inclusion is a crucial element in promoting sustainable and equitable economic development. However, the level of financial inclusion still faces various challenges, particularly those related to the quality of human resources and the ability to adapt to digital technology developments. This study aims to analyze the relationship between human capital and digital literacy on financial inclusion. This study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive-exploratory design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation with productive-age individuals, micro and small business owners, and related parties involved in formal financial services. Data analysis was conducted using thematic analysis to identify patterns and meanings emerging from the experiences and perceptions of informants. The results show that human capital plays a significant role in shaping individuals' understanding, attitudes, and trust in formal financial services. Education level, skills, and experience contribute to an individual's ability to access and utilize financial services. Furthermore, digital literacy has proven to be a crucial factor in supporting the utilization of technology-based financial services, particularly in increasing access, security, and intensity of use of digital financial services. This study also found that human capital and digital literacy have a mutually reinforcing relationship in promoting financial inclusion. Individuals with high levels of human capital and digital literacy demonstrate higher and more sustainable levels of financial participation. These findings emphasize that increasing financial inclusion must be accompanied by strengthening the quality of human resources and digital literacy within the community.
