Abstract

This community engagement program focused on empowering coastal women members of the Indonesian Coastal Women’s Association (KPPI) in Bagan Deli, Medan Belawan District, by addressing gender issues and reproductive health rights. The activity was motivated by high maternal and infant mortality rates, limited understanding of family planning (FP), restricted access to women-friendly health services, and the strong influence of patriarchal culture that hinders women’s autonomy in reproductive decision-making. The methods included interactive health education, focus group discussions (FGDs), and the distribution of leaflets as educational media to extend knowledge within families and communities. The results indicated a significant improvement in participants’ knowledge after the intervention, as reflected in the differences between pre-test and post-test results. FGDs revealed women’s real experiences of limited contraceptive choices, lack of partner support, and socio-economic barriers influencing their reproductive health. The leaflet-based education strengthened comprehension and raised critical awareness of gender equality, enabling women to become more empowered in making family health decisions. Overall, this program contributed to enhancing health literacy, empowering coastal women, and supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals on health (SDG 3), gender equality (SDG 5), and reducing inequalities (SDG 10).Program pengabdian masyarakat ini berfokus pada pemberdayaan perempuan pesisir yang tergabung dalam Kesatuan Perempuan Pesisir Indonesia (KPPI) Bagan Deli, Kecamatan Medan Belawan, melalui isu gender dan hak kesehatan reproduksi.

Abstract

Background: Walking speed is an important indicator for assessing mobility in prosthesis users. One factor suspected to influence walking speed is Body Mass Index (BMI). This study aims to determine the relationship between BMI and walking speed in transtibial prosthesis users with a SACH (Solid Ankle Cushion Heel) foot design. Methods: This observational study used a cross-sectional approach and was conducted at Klinik Bangkit Kaki Palsu from January to June 2025. A total of 15 subjects were purposively selected from a population of 40 patients who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. BMI was calculated from body weight and height measurements, while walking speed was assessed using the 10-Meter Walk Test on a 14-meter walkway. Data normality was tested using the Shapiro-Wilk test, and the correlation analysis was performed using the Pearson product-moment test. Results: The majority of subjects were aged 26–35 years (53.3%), male (66.7%), and had a normal BMI (80%). The average walking speed between male and female subjects did not differ significantly. Statistical analysis revealed a significant correlation between BMI and walking speed, with a correlation coefficient of 0.590 and a p-value of 0.020 (p < 0.05), indicating a moderate positive relationship. Conclusion: This study found a significant relationship between BMI and walking speed among transtibial prosthesis users with a SACH foot design. These findings support the importance of considering BMI in prosthesis design and adjustment to enhance walking efficiency and user comfort.

Abstract

Hypertension is a major global health concern due to its often asymptomatic progression and its association with serious complications such as stroke, heart failure, and kidney disease. This study aimed to develop a functional food product, CelGar jelly, formulated from celery (Apium graveolens L.) and garlic (Allium sativum L.), which are traditionally recognized for their potential antihypertensive properties. Three types of tests were conducted to evaluate the product. A hedonic (sensory) test involving 20 untrained panelists assessed consumer acceptance based on color, aroma, taste, and texture using a five-point hedonic scale. Laboratory analysis was performed to determine the moisture and ash content to ensure compliance with food quality standards. In addition, a functional test using a quasi-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design involved 12 respondents with hypertension to evaluate changes in blood pressure before and after the intervention. The results showed that CelGar jelly was generally acceptable to panelists, and the laboratory analysis confirmed that its moisture and ash content met the Indonesian National Standard for jelly candy. The functional test indicated a statistically significant reduction in systolic blood pressure, while no significant change was observed in diastolic blood pressure. These findings suggest that CelGar jelly has potential as a functional food product supporting blood pressure management, although further studies with larger samples are needed to confirm its health benefits

Abstract

Mentoring is a strategy to improve work performance within an organization. This type of research is literature research. Technique of collecting data is done by documentation method that is reading every information that there is relation with study. The data collected from reading results is then analyzed by selecting the appropriate materials or still related to the study. Based on the results of data analysis then synthesized and concluded to be a conclusion of the topic under study. The result of the mentoring process is intentional, does not happen by chance. The key to ensuring the desired outcomes and the sustainability of the mentoring process is to use all the best practices of human performance technology in the needs assessment, planning, design, implementation, and evaluation phase. Mentoring must be closely linked to the organization's mission, objectives, and strategy priorities. Only an integrated quality, capable of facilitating the process associated with current and future missions that can be expected to deal with exposure to the winds of change. The rapidly changing environment demands multi-skilled, flexible workers, and the level of mastery of core competencies. A mentoring process is important to facilitate the improvement of human performance. With the important assumption that individual behavior (mantees and mentors) can be changed as it is aware of each individual is obliged to continuously learn (long life learner). Abstract

The main factors causing stunting are unbalanced food intake, history of low birth weight (BBLR) and history of disease (Jiang et al., 2015).  Protein deficiency is also often found simultaneously with lack of energy which causes a condition called marasmus (Hildagardis Meliyani Erista Nai et al., 2019). Research Objective to determine the effectiveness of providing additional feeding counseling to toddlers to prevent stunting at posyandu mawar sari. This type of service activity is preceded by a pretest which aims to measure the mother's knowledge before counseling is given. Then counseling was given about related material, after which a post test was carried out with the material that had been given which aimed to measure the mother's knowledge after counseling. The service conducts a pretest with the aim of seeing the level of understanding of counseling participants before counseling, the results of the pre test and post test are very different because the results of the pre test are only 27.50 on average this indicates that the counseling participants do not understand the material to be delivered so that the score is very low. The results of the post test are very good at 94.07. Counseling on supplementary feeding for mothers under five with stunting nutrition and less successful well, based on pre and post activity questionnaires that have knowledge of making supplementary food to prevent stunting increased by 66.57%.
