Abstract

Many students experience a lack of motivation and engagement in learning due to the monotonous learning system. Therefore, many teachers apply gamification strategies to increase student motivation and engagement in learning. This study investigates the integration of gamification strategies within English as a Foreign Language (EFL) instruction to amplify student motivation and engagement. Gamification, a methodology applying gaming elements in a non-game context, serves as a focal point to enhance learning participation and motivation. In the realm of EFL education, student motivation and engagement often pose significant challenges. Through qualitative methodology involving classroom observations, questionnaires, student interviews, and teacher reflections, this research assesses the impact of implementing game elements like point-based assessments, competitive dynamics, challenges, and rewards on student motivation and engagement in learning English. The findings underscore a notable surge in student motivation attributed to the incorporation of game elements, fostering a more enjoyable and competitive learning environment that encourages active student participation. This research contributes vital insight for educators, highlighting the efficacy of gamification as a tool to heighten motivation and engagement in EFL education. It emphasizes the need for judicious integration of relevant gaming elements in pedagogical design to craft more immersive and meaningful learning experiences for students studying English as a Foreign Language.

Abstract

Keterampilan berbicara Bahasa Inggris merupakan kemampuan esensial bagi mahasiswa, baik dalam konteks akademik maupun profesional. Namun, hasil observasi awal menunjukkan bahwa banyak mahasiswa masih mengalami hambatan dalam mengemukakan pendapat, membangun dialog sederhana, dan berpartisipasi aktif dalam diskusi berbahasa Inggris. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat melalui Program Intensifikasi Bahasa Asing (PIBA) di Universitas Islam Negeri Alauddin Makassar ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara mahasiswa dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS). Model ini dipilih karena mampu mendorong interaksi, kepercayaan diri, serta kelancaran berbicara melalui kerja kelompok yang dinamis. Pelaksanaan kegiatan mencakup analisis kebutuhan, penyusunan materi berbasis tugas, pelatihan intensif selama delapan sesi, dan evaluasi hasil. Pada setiap pertemuan, mahasiswa bekerja dalam kelompok kecil, di mana dua anggota bertahan menerima kunjungan dari kelompok lain, sementara dua anggota lainnya berkeliling untuk bertukar informasi. Pendekatan ini menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang komunikatif, kolaboratif, dan memungkinkan latihan berbicara secara natural. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam aspek kelancaran, pengucapan, tata bahasa, dan kemampuan menyampaikan ide, yang terlihat dari kenaikan skor pre-test dan post-test serta meningkatnya keaktifan mahasiswa. Peserta juga melaporkan meningkatnya motivasi dan kepercayaan diri. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa TSTS efektif diterapkan dalam program intensif untuk memperkuat keterampilan berbicara mahasiswa.

Abstract

Hipertensi merupakan salah satu faktor pemicu timbulnya penyakit ginjal kronik. Adanya kerusakan pembuluh darah dalam ginjal menyebabkan terjadinya penurunan kemampuan fungsi ginjal untuk menyaring (filtrasi) darah dengan baik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi potensi interaksi obat antihipertensi yang digunakan pasien penyakit ginjal kronik di poliklinik penyakit dalam salah satu rumah sakit khusus ginjal di Bandung. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian non eksperimental bersifat deskriptif kuantitatif dengan pengambilan data secara observasional mengambil data pada periode Juli - September 2019. Teknik pengambilan sampel diambil dari data rekam medis pasien sesuai kriteria inklusi dan ekslusi, didapatkan sampel sebanyak 225 rekam medis pasien. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan potensi interaksi obat antara antihipertensi yang digunakan, terdapat 172 kasus dengan persentase paling banyak pada tingkat keparahan moderate sebanyak 128 kasus (74,42 %), minor 30 kasus (17,44 %) dan major 14 kasus (8,14 %) dengan obat yang paling banyak menimbulkan interaksi adalah amlodipin dengan bisoprolol sebanyak 64 kasus. Potensi interaksi obat antihipertensi dengan obat golongan lain terdapat 279 kasus dengan nilai persentase paling banyak pada tingkat keparahan moderat (88,53%) dan kombinasi interaksi yang terbanyak adalah amlodipine + kalsium karbonat sebanyak 168 kasus.

Abstract

Big Data and Smart Governance are important components in achieving sustainable governance. This article explores the integration of Big Data in public administration and its role in improving government efficiency, transparency, and accountability through data-driven decision-making. While Big Data offers great opportunities, governments face a variety of challenges, including data privacy, security, and technology infrastructure issues. This article identifies these challenges and highlights the potential of Smart Governance in supporting sustainable development by leveraging technology to achieve environmental, economic, and social goals. Through a comprehensive analysis, this study presents policy recommendations to help governments and stakeholders make optimal use of Big Data in supporting more effective and sustainable governance. These findings highlight the long-term benefits of integrating Big Data in public administration to ensure equitable and sustainable development.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to enhance the digital and pedagogical competencies of teachers at SD Penggilingan 01 Jakarta through training and mentoring on the development of digital learning materials using the flipped book approach. The program was conducted over four months (October 2024–January 2025) and involved 20 teachers from various grade levels. The implementation process included four main stages: needs assessment, training and workshop, classroom mentoring, and evaluation.The pre–post test results indicated an average improvement of 47.6% in teachers’ competencies, covering the understanding of digital media design skills and multimedia integration. Ninety percent of the participants successfully created their own flipped books relevant to their teaching subjects. Teachers also demonstrated greater confidence and creativity in integrating digital tools into their lessons. The impact was evident on three levels: teachers became more innovative, students showed higher enthusiasm and learning independence, and the school gained a sustainable digital learning model. This program highlights that flipped book–based training is an effective pedagogical strategy to support the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum and foster a more adaptive digital learning ecosystem in elementary education.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui dan menganalisis pengaruh Green Dakwah dalam mentransformasi masjid sebagai sarana edukasi kesadaran ekologis masyarakat di Kelurahan Batu Putih, Kecamatan Batu Putih, Kabupaten Kolaka Utara. Manfaat penelitian meliputi: memberikan pemahaman tentang kondisi dan dampak kerusakan lingkungan, meningkatkan kesadaran pelestarian lingkungan, memperkuat peran masjid sebagai pusat edukasi dan transformasi nilai keagamaan yang mendukung pelestarian alam, serta memotivasi masyarakat untuk bertanggung jawab menjaga lingkungan. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan ABCD yang melibatkan masyarakat dan mahasiswa dalam mengidentifikasi potensi dan melaksanakan program edukasi di masjid. Hasil program Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) selama 45 hari menunjukkan perubahan positif pola pikir dan perilaku masyarakat terhadap pentingnya menjaga kebersihan dan kelestarian lingkungan melalui pendekatan keagamaan kontekstual, seperti sosialisasi lingkungan, kajian fiqih lingkungan, dan pengelolaan sampah ramah lingkungan. Transformasi ini menjadikan masjid bukan hanya tempat ibadah, tetapi pusat edukasi yang menanamkan nilai kebersihan, kepedulian, tanggung jawab terhadap alam, memperkuat hubungan sosial, dan menjadikan menjaga lingkungan sebagai bagian dari keimanan dan ibadah kepada Allah SWT.

Abstract

Family Medicinal Plants (TOGA) are plants with medicinal properties and are cultivated in home gardens as a form of community self-reliance in maintaining health and preventing disease. The lack of public knowledge regarding the types of TOGA, their processing methods, and their uses is a key reason for implementing this community service program. This activity aims to increase community knowledge and skills regarding the use of TOGA as a preventative measure against various common diseases. The program was implemented among 45 families in Suka Jaya Village through outreach, demonstrations, TOGA planting practices, and mentoring in the preparation of simple herbal concoctions. Evaluation was conducted using pre- and post-tests, practical observations, and interviews. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in community knowledge, from an average score of 52.6 to 88.4 after the education. Eighty-five percent of participants were able to practice TOGA planting, and 78% made simple concoctions such as warm ginger, tamarind turmeric, and lemongrass tea. The community considered the program very beneficial and wanted similar activities to continue regularly. This program can increase community awareness and self-reliance in maintaining health. The use of traditional medicinal plants (TOGA) is considered effective as a disease prevention measure and supports a healthy, natural, and affordable lifestyle. This initiative is recommended for implementation in other regions and further development through further training.

Abstract

This study explores students’ perceptions of lecturers’ teaching styles in the English Education Program at Universitas Esa Unggul. Grounded in Anthony F. Grasha’s (2002) five teaching style framework, like Expert, Formal Authority , Personal Model, Facilitator, and Delegator—the research aims to identify the styles most preferred by students, the reasons behind these preferences, and their perceived impact on learning outcomes. A qualitative descriptive design was employed, supported by a case study approach. Data were collected from 11 participants in the 2023 Academic Reading class through semi-structured interviews and a closed-ended questionnaire based on a Likert scale. Thematic analysis, assisted by Atlas. ti software was used to code and interpret the data. The findings revealed that students most favored a combination of the Expert and Delegator styles. The Expert style was appreciated for lecturers’ mastery of subject matter, clarity of explanations, and corrective feedback, which built students’ trust and confidence in learning. Meanwhile, the Delegator style was valued for fostering autonomy, critical thinking, and collaborative learning, enabling students to take greater responsibility for their own academic progress. Additionally, the Facilitator style was recognized as supportive in encouraging active participation, while the Authority and Demonstrator styles were noted for providing structure and clear guidance. Overall, students emphasized that a balanced approach—combining expertise, structure, and opportunities for independence—leads to more effective and engaging learning experiences. This research contributes to the understanding of how teaching styles influence student motivation, confidence, and engagement in English language learning. It highlights the need for lecturers to adopt flexible, student-centered strategies that integrate both academic rigor and opportunities for autonomy. Future studies are recommended to expand the scope across multiple institutions and incorporate additional methods, such as classroom observations, to strengthen findings.

Abstract

Abstrak Stunting masih menjadi masalah kesehatan serius di Indonesia dengan prevalensi 21,5% pada tahun 2023, termasuk di Kabupaten Donggala yang mencapai 32,4%. Kondisi ini menunjukkan perlunya intervensi komprehensif berbasis masyarakat untuk meningkatkan kesehatan ibu dan anak. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan memberdayakan masyarakat melalui edukasi gizi, pelatihan hidroponik, dan inovasi pangan lokal. Metode kegiatan meliputi (1) edukasi pentingnya ASI eksklusif dan peran Posyandu dengan evaluasi pre–post test, (2) pelatihan pembuatan kebun hidroponik, serta (3) demo pembuatan camilan sehat puding kelor. Hasil menunjukkan 13 responden mengalami peningkatan pengetahuan setelah edukasi sebesar 78,6% dengan kategori baik, pelatihan hidroponik berhasil menghasilkan tanaman siap panen dalam 3 bulan pada 13 peserta, serta produk puding kelor diterima positif oleh 14 panelis dengan penilaian rasa sangat baik (61,5%), tekstur baik (53,8%), warna sangat baik (53,8%), dan aroma sangat baik (61,5%). Kesimpulannya, kegiatan ini berkontribusi nyata dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan gizi, keterampilan masyarakat, diversifikasi pangan rumah tangga, serta upaya pencegahan stunting. Dukungan berkelanjutan dari masyarakat, pemerintah daerah, dan perguruan tinggi diperlukan untuk menjaga keberlanjutan program. Kata kunci: edukasi gizi; hidroponik; puding kelor; stunting Abstract Stunting remains a serious health problem in Indonesia, with a prevalence of 21.5% in 2023, including in Donggala Regency, which reached 32.4%. This situation highlights the need for comprehensive community-based interventions to improve maternal and child health. This community service activity aims to empower the community through nutrition education, hydroponic training, and local food innovations. The activity methods include (1) education on the importance of exclusive breastfeeding and the role of Posyandu with pre–post test evaluations, (2) training in hydroponic gardening, and (3) training in making healthy snacks in the form of moringa pudding with organoleptic acceptance tests. The results showed that 13 respondents experienced an increase in knowledge after education of 78.6% with a good category, hydroponic training successfully produced harvest-ready plants in 3 months for 13 participants, and moringa pudding products were positively received by 14 panelists with taste rated as very good (61.5%), texture good (53.8%), color very good (53.8%), and aroma very good (61.5%). In conclusion, this activity contributes significantly to improving nutritional knowledge, community skills, household food diversification, and stunting prevention efforts. Continuous support from the community, local government, and universities is needed to maintain the program's sustainability. Keywords: nutrition education; moringa pudding; hydroponics; stunting

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the implementation of Good School Governance (GSG) at SD Islam DDI Sangatta Utara in Kutai Timur Regency, East Kalimantan, and its relation to school performance and accreditation achievement. The implementation of GSG focuses on four main principles namely accountability, transparency, participation, and equity, which contribute to strengthening school governance. This study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving the principal, teachers, school committee members, and parents as informants. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the implementation of Good School Governance at SD Islam DDI Sangatta Utara has been initiated but remains suboptimal. Accountability is implemented through reporting of school programs, the documentation has not fully served as a public accountability instrument. Transparency is still limited and has not reached all stakeholders effectively. Community participation exists but mostly focuses on basic support and occasional school activities rather than active involvement in program planning and evaluation. Equity in educational services is ensured in terms of students’ treatment and learning opportunities. However, it is not fully supported by adequate educational facilities and infrastructure. School performance remains in the fair category, as reflected by the continued accreditation score of C, with infrastructure issues as the primary factor hindering quality improvement. The study concludes that the principles of GSG play a strategic role in enhancing the quality of education at SD Islam DDI Sangatta Utara. Therefore, strengthening each principle of GSG and improving collaboration among stakeholders are needed to support the improvement of school performance and sustainable accreditation development
