Abstract

This study aims to develop a performance framework for higher education institutions in developing countries that is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) agenda. A qualitative approach using an in-depth interview model was employed to identify the main dimensions from the perspectives of purposively selected educational management experts. The research was conducted over 61 days, with core activities consisting of in‑depth interviews via the Zoom Meeting platform, and thematic analysis was adopted. The findings indicate that a performance design for higher education institutions in developing countries that is consistent with the SDGs agenda must, at a minimum, exhibit three key dimensions: a dynamic environment, a foresight strategy, and a value-creation program. All three must be firmly anchored in the Tridharma of Indonesian higher education. These results are highly valuable, as they offer a conceptual contribution by integrating the discourse on education for sustainability, higher education governance, and the SDGs framework into a comprehensive, contextually grounded performance model for the provision of higher education in developing countries.

Abstract

Objectives: The coffee industry is characterized by intense competition, shifting consumer preferences, and vulnerability to external disruptions, creating challenges for businesses aiming to maintain sustainable performance. This study investigates the role of dynamic capabilities in shaping program uniqueness and enhancing business performance, with strategic flexibility examined as a mediating factor.Methodology: Adopting a quantitative research design, the study utilizes a structured questionnaire distributed among decision-makers in small and medium-sized coffee enterprises across Indonesia, and analyzes the data using Structural Equation Modeling with AMOS.Finding: The findings provide both theoretical advancement and practical implications for SMEs in the coffee sector by highlighting the importance of resource orchestration and adaptive strategies in sustaining competitive advantage. This research contributes to the broader discourse on strategic management and SME development, offering valuable insights for academics, practitioners, and policymakers aiming to enhance resilience and innovation in dynamic industry environments. Bottom of FormConclusion: The results demonstrate that dynamic capabilities specifically sensing, seizing, and reconfiguring resources positively influence the development of unique programs and contribute to improved business outcomes. Furthermore, the presence of a flexibility strategy significantly mediates the effect of dynamic capabilities, enabling firms to adapt more effectively to environmental changes and align their strategic initiatives with market demands. By integrating the Conservation of Resources (COR) theory into the dynamic capabilities framework, this study offers a novel theoretical perspective on how firms can protect, allocate, and optimize resources under conditions of uncertainty.

Abstract

Purpose: This paper examines the prominent themes of research, intellectual connections, gaps in scholarship on the subject of local government financial autonomy in the world literature through bibliometric tools. Method: Bibliometric analysis of 626 publications in the Scopus index (2000-2025) with the VOSviewer software was performed to chart the occurrence of two or more keywords, thematic networks, citation network, and co-authorship network. The discussion follows the historical developments of the use of fiscal decentralization and local financial autonomy in terms of time, geography, and scientific fields. Findings: Nine thematic clusters were chosen that are reflections of intellectual organization of the subject-area, encompassing such areas as fiscal decentralization, urbanization, intergovernmental transfers, environmental regulation and digital governance. The research output has increased considerably since 2005 where the focus has shifted in terms of fiscal efficiency discussions to sustainability and technology-based governance issues. The best collaboration networks are between China and Europe and low involvement of Africa and Latin Americans. The temporal analysis shows that the financial crisis globally and the COVID-19 outbreak has fueled the study of fiscal resilience and adaptive financial management research. Implications: This study shows the need for developing countries to deploy digital tools and enhance their intergovernmental transfer design, as well as capacity-building strategies that are often used by developed nations to improve their fiscal transparency, revenue performance, and resilience. This will go a long way to strengthen local financial systems. Novelty/Value: The study's nine research clusters and gaps—including the underrepresentation of African and Latin American studies and the development of digital and environmental fiscal themes—provide a clearer intellectual framework for the field than previous reviews.

Abstract

Hiking is one of the popular sport tourism activities in Indonesia, especially in West Java Province. It’s not only favored by professionals but also amateurs who are eager to spend their leisure time outdoors. These participants do the activity based on various motivations and preferences. Activity preferences are activities chosen by sport tourism participants and can be used as a basis for conducting market segmentation. This study aimed to investigate dominant factors of participants’ outdoor recreation motivation and its influence on outdoor activity preferences. Quantitative research was used in this study. Data were collected from 411 respondents who hiked Ciremai Mountain and Papandayan Mountain in West Java Province. Data were analysed using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and Structural Equation Model (SEM). Results showed that achievement, learning and sociality, independent and personal development, and relaxation formed outdoor activity motivation. The most dominant factor was learning and sociality, while the least dominant was relaxation. Motivation was also proven to have a significant influence on activity preference. Most of the hikers were willing to explore and learn new things when they hiked, which can be an opportunity for the management to socialize sustainable behaviour aspects around the area.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to analyze the effect of segmenting, targeting, and positioning on consumer purchase decisions in the digital era, both partially and simultaneously, and to examine the role of consumer motivation as a moderator of that relationship.Methodology – This research adopts a quantitative approach to objectively measure the relationships among variables using numerical data. Data analysis was conducted using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM), as the constructs of segmentation, targeting, positioning, consumer motivation, and purchase decisions are latent variables and involve moderation effects. Data were collected through an online structured questionnaire survey of 200 consumers who had previously made purchases via digital platforms. Purposive sampling was employed to ensure that respondents had relevant experience with digital marketing activities.Originality/Novelty – The originality of this study lies in its integration of the classical segmenting, targeting, and positioning framework with contemporary digital consumer behavior, particularly by positioning consumer motivation as a moderating variable that deepens the understanding of this relationship.Implications – The findings show that segmentation, targeting, and positioning each have a positive and significant effect on consumer purchase decisions, both partially and simultaneously, and that consumer motivation strengthens the effect of segmentation on purchase decisions. This study provides both theoretical insights and practical implications for the development of more adaptive, consumer-oriented digital marketing strategies.

Abstract

Objective: This study investigated the mediating role of customer trust in linking perceived usefulness and ease of use to reuse intention among digital payment users, providing implications for financial technology education curriculum development. Method: A quantitative survey involving 600 Pospay users was conducted using seven-point Likert scale questionnaires. Structural Equation Modeling with Partial Least Squares (PLS-SEM) was employed for analysis with bootstrapping (5,000 resamples) to test direct and indirect effects. Results: Perceived usefulness most strongly influenced customer trust (β = 0.611, p < 0.001), followed by perceived ease of use (β = 0.359, p < 0.001). Customer trust significantly predicted reuse intention (β = 0.447, p < 0.001) and fully mediated both pathways. The model explained 86.8% of trust variance and 82% of reuse intention variance. Novelty: This research extends the Technology Acceptance Model by identifying trust as the key psychological mechanism linking perceived usefulness and ease of use to reuse intention. More importantly, it highlights a pedagogical shift in financial technology education by emphasizing that financial literacy programs should integrate trust-building competencies alongside technical operational skills.

Abstract

This systematic literature review examines the relationships between leadership capability, learning organization, knowledge management strategy, and university performance, with a particular focus on the mediating role of innovative academic programs. The review analyzes 76 peer-reviewed articles published between 2016 and 2025, sourced from Scopus and Web of Science databases. Using the PRISMA 2020 methodology, 17 high-quality studies were identified that directly address the research questions. Data synthesis employed a narrative approach combined with thematic analysis to identify cross-study patterns and convergent findings. Transformational leadership capability significantly influences university performance through innovative academic programs. Learning organization culture and knowledge management strategy demonstrate strong direct and indirect effects on performance outcomes (beta range = 0.38–0.68). Innovative academic programs serve as a crucial partial mediator connecting organizational capabilities with performance outcomes, with partial mediation as the predominant pattern across studies (R2 = 0.58). This review contributes an integrative theoretical framework connecting leadership capability, learning organization, and knowledge management strategy with university performance through innovative academic programs as a mediating mechanism. It advances innovation theory to the higher education context and identifies important boundary conditions and research gaps for future investigation. University leaders should prioritize developing transformational leadership capabilities, cultivating learning organization cultures, implementing comprehensive knowledge management systems, and fostering multi-dimensional academic innovation to achieve superior institutional performance outcomes.
