Abstract

Kekurangan Energi Kronik (KEK) pada ibu hamil merupakan masalah gizi yang berdampak serius terhadap kesehatan ibu dan janin. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan kejadian KEK pada ibu hamil di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Pontap Kota Palopo. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain cross sectional dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Populasi sekaligus sampel penelitian adalah seluruh ibu hamil di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Pontap Kota Palopo sebanyak 79 orang (exhaustive sampling). Variabel independen meliputi pengetahuan gizi, pola konsumsi, dan riwayat penyakit infeksi, sedangkan variabel dependen adalah kejadian KEK yang diukur menggunakan Lingkar Lengan Atas (LILA). Analisis data dilakukan dengan uji Chi-square dan regresi logistik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara pengetahuan dengan kejadian KEK (p = 0,028), serta antara pola konsumsi dengan kejadian KEK (p < 0,001). Tidak terdapat hubungan antara riwayat penyakit infeksi dengan kejadian KEK (p = 0,641). Hasil analisis multivariat menunjukkan bahwa pola konsumsi merupakan faktor yang paling berhubungan dengan kejadian KEK (OR = 7,233; 95% CI: 2,318–22,565). Kesimpulan bahwa pengetahuan dan pola konsumsi berhubungan dengan kejadian KEK pada ibu hamil, dengan pola konsumsi sebagai faktor dominan. Upaya promosi gizi dan perbaikan pola konsumsi pada ibu hamil perlu ditingkatkan untuk mencegah KEK.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze: (1) the social mechanisms of contestation in the Makassar painting arena) ((2) the process of adaptation of local cultural symbols and values in the creative practice of Makassar painting) ((3) the social and artistic strategies of Makassar painters in negotiating local cultural authenticity with the demands of the art market) (and (4) the impact of art commodification on local cultural representation, symbolic meaning, and the sustainability of visual traditions. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design to gain an in-depth understanding of painting as a social practice. The research subjects are Makassar painters who are active in various art activities, supported by accompanying informants such as curators, academics, and art enthusiasts. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, observation, documentation, and analysis of artworks. To ensure data validity, this study uses source and method triangulation techniques. The results show that Makassar painting operates as an arena of symbolic contestation that is not yet fully institutionalized in a stable manner. In this arena, artistic legitimacy is formed through social relations, informal networks, and symbolic recognition mechanisms. Makassar painters adapt local Bugis-Makassar cultural symbols and values as part of their creative and social strategies to maintain their position in the art arena. The adaptation of local culture is not static, but rather undergoes a process of negotiation and transformation of meaning in line with the entry of the logic of the art market and the cultural industry.This study also found that the process of commodification of art influences the way local cultural symbols are represented in paintings. On the one hand, commodification opens up economic opportunities and the sustainability of art practices) (on the other hand, it has the potential to reduce the symbolic meaning of local culture to commercial value. Using Pierre Bourdieu's theory of practice, this study asserts that Makassar painting is a social practice that reflects the dialectical relationship between arena, habitus, and capital, and is a form of local socio-cultural adaptation in the context of contemporary society.

Abstract

It is essential to realize that wrong parenting can lead to serious social problems such as promiscuity, sexual violence against girls, early marriage, neglect, dropping out of school, and drug trafficking and use. This study aims to analyze the parenting style of children of families who live in the longhouse of Kampung Atas Air, Margasari Village, West Balikpapan District, Balikpapan City. The sociological perspective used is critical. This research uses the qualitative method of the case study approach. The research informants were five families living in longhouses consisting of mothers or fathers and children, community leaders, and local government. The results of the study show that the social reality of the longhouse family is not in line with the social order of the local community, such as; promiscuity occurs, children dropping out of school, early marriage, neglect of children and wives, and drug trafficking. The parenting style implemented is permissive and uninvolved parenting. Children are ignored so that they are not controlled in the association. Caring for children is the responsibility of the extended family, not the responsibility of the nuclear family, namely the biological parents, so children receive less attention from their parents during the growth period until adulthood. The research concludes that a parenting style not by the social order causes social disorder.

Abstract

The relationship between restaurant entrepreneurs and fish traders is not only transactional economic, but also a social relationship based on trust, local cultural values, and informal social networks. The approach used in this study is a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques in the form of observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The theories used in the analysis include symbolic interaction theory (Blumer), social exchange theory (Homans), and social capital theory (Coleman). The results of the study show that the forms of interaction that occur between the two parties include long-term subscription practices, timely payments, and close communication based on local values such as siri', cooperation, and mutual trust. This social interaction has been proven to be able to produce stability in the supply and distribution of fresh fish, as well as strengthen the local economic resilience of coastal communities. The existence of social capital is the main key in forming a network of cooperation that is not only economically profitable but also strengthens social solidarity. Thus, economic practices at TPI Lappa reflect the integration between the economic system and local culture that characterizes the Bugis-Makassar coastal community.

Abstract

Small-scale fishing is crucial for global food security yet remains one of the most hazardous occupations. Despite constant exposure to environmental dangers, the relationship between fishers’ risk perception and their compliance with Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) practices remains underexplored. This study investigates this dynamic through the lens of the sociology of risk, viewing hazards not as objective probabilities but as socially constructed phenomena. For small-scale fishers, risk perception is deeply embedded in social norms, religious beliefs, and economic pressures. Dangers are often interpreted as inevitable fate rather than critical threats—a process of "hazard normalization." Consequently, formal safety regulations often fail because they overlook these specific cultural contexts. This research examines how fishers interpret risk and how these constructions shape their everyday safety practices. By situating occupational safety within the sociocultural realities of fishing communities, the study aims to inform more context-sensitive, participatory OSH policies. Bridging the gap between formal regulations and lived experiences is essential for enhancing safety in this vital sector.

Abstract

Fenomena meningkatnya aktivitas pariwisata di Bali, khususnya di kawasan Pantai Kuta, tidak hanya menghasilkan pertumbuhan ekonomi, tetapi juga memunculkan persoalan lingkungan dan kesehatan yang berdampak pada masyarakat lokal. Tingginya produksi limbah, pencemaran pesisir, serta ketimpangan akses layanan kesehatan menunjukkan adanya ketidakadilan lingkungan antara masyarakat lokal, wisatawan, dan pelaku industri pariwisata. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis distribusi risiko kesehatan lingkungan serta faktor struktural yang memengaruhi ketimpangan tersebut melalui perspektif sosiologi farmasi. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan mixed-method dengan dominasi kualitatif. Data kuantitatif diperoleh melalui kuesioner terhadap 45 responden yang terdiri atas masyarakat lokal, wisatawan, dan stakeholder pariwisata, sedangkan data kualitatif diperoleh melalui wawancara semi-terstruktur dan observasi lapangan. Analisis data dilakukan secara deskriptif-komparatif untuk mengidentifikasi perbedaan tingkat risiko kesehatan dan akses layanan kesehatan antar kelompok sosial, kemudian diperdalam melalui analisis tematik untuk menjelaskan relasi kekuasaan, distribusi modal, dan kerentanan sosial dalam pengelolaan kesehatan lingkungan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa masyarakat lokal mengalami paparan risiko kesehatan lebih tinggi dibandingkan wisatawan dan stakeholder, sementara kapasitas akses layanan kesehatan mereka relatif lebih rendah. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa modernitas pariwisata turut mereproduksi ketimpangan keadilan lingkungan di kawasan wisata Bali.

Abstract

The Kajang tribal culture's usage of black attire shows a very symbolic depth. Wearing black attire enhances their sense of belonging and sets them apart from other groups as a symbol of strong cultural identity. Black attire honors humanity's bond with the universe and is a sign of cosmological views. Black clothes indicates the authority of traditional leaders and moral stature in daily life through ancestor traditions and adherence to customary law. Black clothing promotes community togetherness as a sign of equality. With a thorough comprehension of its significance, the Kajang tribal community promotes broad conservation efforts by raising awareness of the value of protecting the area's cultural history. To investigate the Kajang tribe's use of black traditional apparel, a qualitative ethnographic technique with a constructivist perspective was employed as the research method. The study's findings demonstrate that black apparel serves as more than just a piece of apparel it is a symbol of cultural identity, cosmological beliefs, ancestors' customs, adherence to customary law, and equality within the Kajang tribal society. According to the study's findings, the Kajang tribal community's social and cultural dynamics can be influenced by black clothing, which also has symbolic significance.

Abstract

Pelayanan kesehatan publik yang berkualitas tidak hanya bergantung pada aspek teknis dan fasilitas medis, tetapi juga pada kepuasan pasien yang dipengaruhi oleh nilai-nilai budaya lokal dan dinamika transformasi sosial. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi makna kepuasan pasien dalam layanan kesehatan publik di Puskesmas Lampia, Kabupaten Luwu Timur, dengan memperhatikan pengaruh budaya lokal dan perubahan sosial yang terjadi di masyarakat. Pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain fenomenologis digunakan untuk menggali pengalaman subjektif pasien melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi partisipatif terbatas, dan dokumentasi. Informan penelitian terdiri atas pasien, tenaga kesehatan, dan tokoh masyarakat yang dipilih secara purposif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa persepsi positif terhadap layanan kesehatan dipengaruhi oleh profesionalisme tenaga kesehatan, kesesuaian sikap petugas dengan nilai budaya (seperti sopan santun dan penghormatan terhadap usia), serta keselarasan layanan dengan cara hidup masyarakat lokal. Nilai dan norma budaya berperan penting dalam membentuk harapan dan kepuasan pasien, sementara transformasi sosial melalui teknologi, pendidikan, dan gaya hidup baru turut memengaruhi pola penilaian dan perilaku masyarakat terhadap layanan kesehatan. Puskesmas Lampia dinilai telah cukup berhasil menyesuaikan diri dengan perubahan ini, dengan tetap menjaga kepekaan budaya dan meningkatkan mutu layanan. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan pentingnya mempertahankan prinsip pelayanan berbasis budaya seperti 5S (Senyum, Salam, Sapa, Sopan, dan Santun), peningkatan literasi digital tenaga kesehatan, serta dukungan kebijakan yang mendorong pelayanan adaptif dan kontekstual terhadap kebutuhan masyarakat.

Abstract

Background: The high birth rate is the main reason for the need for family planning services. Many women experience difficulties in determining the choice of type of contraception. This is not only because of the limited available methods but also because of their ignorance to make the right choice according to age, number of children and the side effects that often arise. This study aimed to obtain in-depth information about the behavior of community participation in the family plan­ning program at the Kajuara Community Health Center, Bone Regency. Subjects and Method: The type of research used is descriptive qualitative research. The number of informants in this study was 7 people. The variables of this study are people's behavior, know­ledge, attitudes, and actions. These research variables in a qualitative approach are referred to as the research focus. Data collection was done through in-depth interviews. Data analysis using "content analysis". While the technique of testing the validity of the data using data triangulation. Results: The results showed that basically, the community at the Kajuara Community Health Center knew about the Family Planning program, its benefits, and objectives, but the informa­tion obtained about the Family Planning program was not fully obtained. The attitude of the people who are less responsive to participation in the Family Planning program does not mean they are afraid of not having children but are afraid of the effects of these contraceptives. The actions of people who do not participate in the Family Planning program are due to informa­tion from other people regarding the effects of contraceptives which makes people not want to participate in the Family Planning program. Conclusion: This study concludes that there is a need to increase public knowledge about the Family Planning program through intensive counselling in the community by health workers. It is recommended that the community at the Kajuara Community Health Center support the Family Planning program that has been programmed by the government by participating in the program. It is hoped that mothers will not be influenced by information from other people about the effects of family planning and seek information about family planning programs from health workers. Abstract

Oral health problems among school-aged children remain a major public health challenge in Indonesia, particularly in rural areas where access to dental care services is limited. This study aimed to evaluate the achievements of the Healthier Smiles Phase 7 Programme through an end-line assessment, focusing on changes in oral health knowledge, attitudes, and practices, the strengthening of the school environment, and programme sustainability. A mixed-methods approach with a non-experimental repeated cross-sectional design was employed, integrating quantitative surveys, school observations, Key Informant Interviews (KIIs), and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs). A total of 544 respondents, comprising 250 students, 250 parents or caregivers, and 44 teachers from 12 schools, participated in the study. The findings demonstrated that students' knowledge increased from 64.4% to 84.0%, while positive attitudes reached 98.4%. The programme also strengthened supervised toothbrushing activities, school-based health education, collaboration with community health centres (Puskesmas), and the implementation of the School Health Programme (Usaha Kesehatan Sekolah—UKS). However, healthy behavioural practices did not fully correspond with the improvement in knowledge, indicating the need for sustained reinforcement through support from families, schools, and local government. It is concluded that the Healthier Smiles Phase 7 Programme has contributed to improving oral health and oral hygiene behaviours while strengthening the school health system. Nevertheless, sustaining these achievements requires stronger policy support and continued cross-sectoral collaboration.
