Abstract

Objective: The purpose of this study is to explore how character education can help overcome moral challenges arising from the use of digital technology and identify how to effectively integrate character education into the educational curriculum to form ethical attitudes and behaviors among students. Theoretical Framework: The theoretical framework used includes the concept of character education, which focuses on the formation of ethical values such as responsibility, empathy, and behavioral awareness in the context of the digital era. This theory also relates the role of character education in facing moral challenges caused by the development of digital technology. Literature Review: The literature review includes the theory of character education, previous research on the impact of character education on student behavior, and its application in a digital context. The literature also includes the study of moral challenges in the digital age, such as cyberbullying, the spread of false information, and social interaction in cyberspace. Methods: The research methods used are literature review and case analysis. A literature review includes a review of relevant theories and research, while a case analysis involves an evaluation of character education programs that have been implemented in several educational institutions, including their impact and outcomes on students. Results: The results of the study show that effective character education can increase students' awareness of ethical behavior, digital responsibility, and empathy. In addition, character education programs have been proven to reduce cases of cyberbullying, and the spread of false information, and improve the quality of social interaction in cyberspace. Implications: This study underscores the importance of integrating character values into the educational curriculum. A structured approach is needed to implement character education, so that it can have a positive impact on shaping students' ethical attitudes and behaviors, especially in facing moral challenges in the digital era. Novelty: The novelty of this research lies in the analysis of how character education can directly help students face specific moral challenges that arise as a result of the development of digital technology. This research also provides new insights into the success of character education programs in reducing problems such as cyberbullying and false information.

Abstract

The Rambu Solo funeral tradition of the Torajan people constitutes a prominent form of cultural tourism that raises unresolved normative tensions between religious law, cultural preservation, and economic development. Although extensively examined from anthropological and tourism perspectives, limited scholarly attention has been devoted to its evaluation within Islamic legal discourse, particularly regarding normative boundaries and ethical engagement in non-Islamic ritual environments. This study addresses this gap by examining Rambu Solo through a primarily normative Islamic legal framework, informed by ethical, socio-legal, and socio-economic perspectives. Employing a qualitative normative literature review, the study is grounded in the principles of usul al-fiqh and maqasid al-shariah, with socio-legal and economic aspects functioning as analytical contexts. The analysis combines textual examination of classical fiqh sources with contemporary Islamic legal scholarship and anthropological studies on Torajan culture. Legal reasoning applies juristic classification (ahkam taklifiyyah) alongside maqasid-based evaluation to assess cultural practices according to the criteria of tawhid, hurmat al-mayyit, and public interest (maslahah). The findings indicate that social and economic dimensions of Rambu Solo, including communal solidarity and local economic welfare, are normatively permissible and ethically consistent with Islamic principles. In contrast, ritual elements involving ancestral veneration or symbolic invocation of spirits exceed permissible boundaries due to conflict with Islamic monotheism. The study proposes a balanced legal–ethical model distinguishing permissible cultural participation from prohibited ritual engagement. Theoretically, this research advances Islamic legal studies by extending normative analysis to cultural tourism governance and by offering guidance for policymakers and Muslim communities developing tourism practices.

Abstract

This article discusses the interpretation of Qur'anic verses about food and energy with a focus on carbohydrates from the perspective of Tafsir Ilmi of the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia. The verses analyzed include Q.S. al-An'ām [6]: 95, Q.S. al-Mu'minūn [23]: 19, Q.S. Maryam [19]: 25, and Q.S. an-Naḥl [16]: 68–69, which allude to grains, fruits, dates, and honey as the source of human life. This study uses a qualitative method with a literature study approach and descriptive-analytical analysis of the Scientific Interpretation of the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia, by comparing it in a limited way with classical and modern interpretations. The results of the study show that the Tafsir Ilmi of the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia understands these verses by relating them to the findings of modern nutrition science, especially the function of carbohydrates as the main source of energy for the human body. Grains are understood as a source of complex carbohydrates, while dates, grapes, and honey are categorized as simple sources of carbohydrates that are easily digestible and quickly absorbed. The Scientific Interpretation does not make the Qur'an the basis for the formation of biochemical theories, but rather places science as a tool to affirm the function of food in the order of Allah's creation. Thus, the interpretation of Ilmi acts as a conceptual bridge between revelation and modern nutritional science, as well as showing methodological prudence in the integration of the Qur'an and science

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to analyze global trends, collaboration, and scientific contributions in the multicultural education curriculum during 2000–2024. Theoretical framework: This research is based on the concept of multicultural and inclusive education and uses a bibliometric approach to map the development and structure of research. Literature review: The literature review comes from Scopus publications that discuss multicultural education, curriculum, and inclusivity, which shows an increasing concern for diversity in education. Methods: The method used was a bibliometric analysis of 532 Scopus publications, with analysis of keywords, authors, institutions, publication trends, and state contributions. Results: The results show an increase in publications by 13.05% per year. Collaboration is quite high, but international cooperation is still limited. The United States is a major contributor, with key themes such as cultural competence, diversity, and intercultural education. Implications: This research is useful for curriculum developers and policymakers to strengthen inclusive and diversity-based education, including in the context of Islamic education. Novelty: The novelty of this research lies in a comprehensive bibliometric analysis in mapping global trends, themes, and collaborations in multicultural education.

Abstract

Objective: The primary objective is to assess whether the institutional financial practices of BSI align with the ethical, social, developmental, and sustainability goals emphasized by Muhammadiyah, particularly in empowering micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), promoting inclusive economic growth, and advancing the collective welfare of the ummah in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Theoretical framework: This framework allows for a dynamic and integrative analysis of Islamic legal and economic reasoning within modern institutional and macroeconomic structures, aligning with global development paradigms like the SDGs. Literature review: The literature review addresses three interrelated domains: (1) the evolving relationship between Islamic organizations and financial institutions, (2) the development of contemporary Maqashid Syariah frameworks, and (3) the role of institutional trust and ethical alignment in Islamic finance. Methods: This research adopts a qualitative-descriptive method using library research as the primary approach. Data was collected from academic literature, official documents, media reports, and primary sources from Muhammadiyah and BSI. Results: Findings indicate that Muhammadiyah’s withdrawal was driven by dissatisfaction with BSI’s prioritization of corporate-scale financing over inclusive support for MSMEs. Although the financial loss to BSI was relatively small (about 4.4% of third-party funds), the symbolic impact was substantial, signaling a critical shift in institutional alignment and ethical accountability. The move reflects Muhammadiyah’s commitment to financial justice, economic inclusivity, and alignment with SDG-related objectives. Implications: The study's implications are twofold: (1) for Islamic financial governance, it calls for deeper alignment with maqashid-oriented principles that support SDG implementation; and (2) for Islamic civil society actors, it emphasizes the importance of principled fund management that advances justice, development, and trust in financial ecosystems. Novelty: The novelty of this research lies in the application of Jasser Auda’s systems theory of Maqashid Syariah not to product evaluation, but to institutional decision-making and inter-organizational dynamics—a critical yet underexplored dimension of Islamic economic thought with direct relevance to sustainable development discourses.

Abstract

This study analyzes the practice of unsolicited goods in Cash on Delivery (COD) transactions on the TikTok Shop platform, focusing on dispute resolution methods for such cases. This issue reflects the inconvenience consumers face in e-commerce transactions. This study aims to provide a thorough overview of legal protections for consumers in unsolicited goods transactions conducted via COD without the consumer's consent or through fictitious orders. This research employs a normative method, using a literature review and interviews with consumers currently experiencing cases of unsolicited goods. The study finds that unsolicited goods delivered through COD transactions violate consumer rights because consumers are compelled to accept and pay for goods they never ordered. Under Indonesian positive law, such practices conflict with Law No. 8 of 1999 on Consumer Protection, Government Regulation No. 80 of 2019 on Electronic Commerce, and regulations concerning electronic information and personal data protection. In Islamic law, the practice is invalid because it lacks mutual consent (ridha), contains elements of gharar and tadlis, and may be classified as an akad fudhuli, which is not binding without the consumer's approval. The study also shows that liability is shared among sellers, platforms, and, to a limited extent, couriers, although platforms may bear stronger responsibility due to their role as transaction facilitators. This research concludes that stronger regulation, platform supervision, consumer education, and digital literacy are needed to ensure legal certainty and protect consumers from unsolicited goods in COD transactions.
