Abstract

The rapid development of contemporary society requires educational institutions, including madrasah, to continuously adapt and innovate, thereby necessitating change management grounded in Islamic values and responsive to contemporary challenges. Although transformational leadership and change management have been widely studied, specific understanding of the characteristics of transformative Islamic education change management in the madrasah context remains limited. This study aimed to identify and analyze the key characteristics of transformative Islamic education change management implemented at MA Negeri 1 Nganjuk. Employing a qualitative approach with a phenomenological case study design, data were collected through in-depth interviews with the principal, teachers, staff, and the madrasah committee, participant observation, and document analysis. The findings show that the main characteristics of change management at MA Negeri 1 Nganjuk include a strong vision grounded in Islamic values, inspirational and development-oriented leadership by the principal, a collaborative and adaptive organizational culture, and curriculum and instructional innovation strategies that are responsive to contemporary demands. These findings contribute to the development of change management theory in the context of Islamic education and enrich the literature on best practices in madrasah settings. The study concludes that synergy between transformational leadership, a strong organizational culture, and continuous innovation is essential to realizing transformative Islamic education, and it offers practical implications for madrasah managers in designing effective and contextually relevant change strategies, as well as opening avenues for further research on the enabling and constraining factors in implementing transformative change across diverse Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

Changes in Islamic education in the modern era have become increasingly crucial in line with technological advancements, social dynamics, and the growing needs of Muslim communities. Islamic educational institutions are now expected not only to transmit religious teachings but also to nurture learners who are religiously grounded, adaptable, creative, and capable of facing global challenges. Therefore, change management plays a vital role in ensuring that the transformation process proceeds in a structured, systematic manner while remaining rooted in Islamic values. This study examines key management functions—planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling—as well as stages of change developed in models such as those of Lewin and Kotter as the foundation for implementing transformative Islamic education. This research employs a literature study method with a descriptive qualitative approach by analyzing books, scholarly articles, relevant studies, and Islamic education policy documents. The findings indicate that the success of Islamic education transformation greatly depends on the synergy of all management functions. Planning helps formulate the direction of change; organizing ensures that institutional structures operate effectively; actuating requires inspirational leadership and a collaborative culture; while controlling ensures that the process remains aligned with established goals. The stages of change also emphasize the importance of building readiness, implementing strategic steps, and reinforcing new cultural patterns. Overall, change management in Islamic education involves not only technical adjustments but also the strengthening of values, character, and spirituality.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the forms of Islamic school culture, the strategies of its internalization, and their effectiveness in addressing the moral challenges faced by Generation Z in the digital era. This research employed a qualitative approach using interviews, observations, and documentation, with data analyzed through an interactive model involving data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that: (1) Islamic school culture is manifested through a Qur’anic vision, the integration of Islamic values into the curriculum, habituation of worship, teachers’ role modeling, and a consistently religious environment; (2) internalization strategies are implemented comprehensively through school leadership, value-based learning integration, Qur’anic achievement monitoring, the use of digital media, and active student participation in religious activities; (3) these strategies led to improvements in students’ discipline, responsibility, and religious awareness, as well as the creation of a conducive, bullying-free school climate and the reinforcement of Islamic practices in family environments. The findings highlight the importance of integrating digital innovation into Islamic education to enhance student engagement and ensure the relevance of value internalization in the digital era.

Abstract

Islamic university students today face serious challenges in the form of low learning independence. Many of them still depend on their lecturers' guidance, lack initiative in exploring knowledge, and are not yet fully capable of managing their own learning independently. This study aims to examine how the development of the MBKM curriculum in PTKI can enhance students' learning independence and support the realization of impactful campuses. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study design, conducted at Nahdlatul Ulama University Surabaya (UNUSA) and Yudharta University Pasuruan. Data collection techniques were carried out through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation, with data analysis using data condensation, data presentation, conclusion drawing, and verification. The research results show that the development of the MBKM curriculum at both universities encourages students to learn actively, independently, and reflectively through programs such as internships, entrepreneurship, teaching on campus, and community service. Independent learning is reflected in students' ability to manage the learning process, make decisions, and take responsibility for their learning achievements. In addition, Islamic values also frame this process, resulting in learners who are not only academically excellent but also ethical and contribute significantly to society. Thus, the contextually developed MBKM curriculum has proven to be an important instrument in shaping independent students while also realizing an impactful campus.

Abstract

Islamic educational institutions encounter significant challenges in human resource management due to the rapid advancement of digital technology. To enhance quality and efficiency, these institutions must embrace innovative solutions, particularly the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) within the context of the Industrial Revolution 4.0. This research aims to explore the potential applications of AI in human resource management (HR) specifically within Islamic educational settings, while also identifying the opportunities and challenges associated with its implementation. Utilizing a qualitative approach through a comprehensive literature review, this study collects data from secondary sources to identify key themes and gaps in existing literature, ultimately formulating recommendations for effective AI integration. The findings reveal that AI can significantly improve operational efficiency, facilitate data-driven decision-making, and enhance the professional development of staff in Islamic educational institutions. However, challenges such as resistance to change and limited resources must be addressed. The strategic implementation of AI can foster an environment conducive to the professional growth of educators, aligned with Islamic values. This research not only provides valuable insights into the role of technology in HR management but also emphasizes the necessity for further studies to explore additional dimensions of AI application in educational contexts. Ultimately, this study enriches the understanding of AI's role in HR management within Islamic educational institutions and serves as a reference for administrators seeking to adopt advanced technological solutions.

Abstract

MAN 2 Kota Malang menampilkan model manajemen strategis partisipatif; Pesantren Musthafawiyah Purba Baru mempertahankan resistensi tradisional yang produktif; SMAS Islam Sunan Gunung Jati Tulungagung menegaskan pentingnya kepemimpinan inklusif; sedangkan MI Thoriqul Huda Ranupani memperlihatkan resistensi kultural berbasis kearifan lokal.
