Abstract

Harun Nasution is an Islamic thinker who has made significant contributions to the reform of Islamic education in Indonesia. One of his monumental ideas is the establishment of postgraduate programs at State Islamic Universities (PTIN), such as at IAIN which is now UIN. Higher education in Indonesia, especially in the context of Islamic education, has experienced rapid development, but still faces challenges in integrating science with religious values. Harun Nasution, as one of the great thinkers in Islamic education, offers a very relevant perspective in answering this challenge. Harun Nasution's Islamic educational thinking emphasizes the importance of education that combines religious knowledge with modern science. This article aims to analyze Harun Nasution's thoughts on Islamic education and their relevance to the development of postgraduate programs at state universities in Indonesia. Through a qualitative approach, this article shows that Harun Nasution's thoughts can be a basis for curriculum renewal, increasing the capacity of lecturers, and developing research based on the integration of religious knowledge and science. Thus, postgraduate education at state universities in Indonesia is expected to produce graduates who are academically competent and have real contributions to the progress of the people and the nation.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of local wisdom-based Islamic education in the context of the Independent Curriculum and its impact on strengthening cultural identity in Indonesia. In the era of rapid globalization, local wisdom-based education has an important role in maintaining cultural values that are the identity of the nation. This study uses a library research method to analyze various literature related to Islamic education, local wisdom, and the Independent Curriculum. The results of the study indicate that the integration of Islamic values with local culture through education can shape the character of students who respect their cultural heritage. In addition, the implementation of the Independent Curriculum provides flexibility for educators to develop teaching materials that are appropriate to local conditions and needs, thereby strengthening the relationship between religion and culture. Local wisdom-based Islamic education, which combines religious teachings and traditional culture, has been proven to strengthen the cultural identity of students amidst the flow of globalization. Although there are challenges in its implementation, local wisdom-based education has great potential to maintain and strengthen Indonesia's cultural heritage. This study suggests the need for further support from the government and educators to ensure that the implementation of this education can take place effectively and have a positive impact on the nation's next generation.

Abstract

Jam'u Al-Qur'an wa Rosmuhu/Kitabatuhu are two words that are identical in meaning, that is, apart from being interpreted as memorizing, they also mean writing. As with preserving the Koran, these two techniques have been used since the time of the Prophet PBUH, Abu Bakr and Uthman. It's just that in the early period the method of memorization was prioritized, while in the last period the priority was on the method of writing, in order to reduce differences in Qira'ah. The Al-Qur'an during the time of the Prophet SAW was collected by rote and memory, as well as notes that are still scattered around. During Abu Bakr's time, apart from being collected in memorized form, notes were also collected, giving birth to separate Suhuf. During Uthman's time, all the separate memorizations and Suhuf were combined into one, so it was called the Imam's Mushaf. The next period of preservation of the Al-Qur'an was marked by the addition of dots and harakat as well as the refinement of written words in the Ottoman Rasm, as well as the printing of the Al-Qur'an in various countries.

Abstract

Abstract

This study examines the comparative causal analysis of the deconstruction of the hisab-rukyat method in determining the beginning of the Hijri month. The method used in this study is (library research) to integrate theories and empirical findings related to comparative causal research with a descriptive qualitative type using a phenomenological research approach. Data collected through literature studies were analyzed using data reduction techniques, data presentation and conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the preference for the hisab or rukyat method is not merely a matter of scientific technicality, but is influenced by the institutional history, religious authority, and ideological views of each group, such as Nahdlatul Ulama which prioritizes rukyat and Muhammadiyah which prioritizes hisab. This difference also has an impact on the social dynamics of the community, ranging from tolerance, potential conflict, to reconciliation efforts. This study emphasizes the importance of an interdisciplinary approach in understanding religious practices, as well as the need for open dialogue between Islamic organizations to build understanding.

Abstract

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology in the era of Industrial Revolution 4.0 and Society 5.0 has fundamentally transformed the way families and schools’ function in educating children. Parents and teachers are increasingly confronted with complex challenges in guiding children amidst the influx of information, digital content, and internet-based learning. This article aims to analyze the roles of parents and teachers in responding to digital challenges, particularly in the context of Islamic education. Employing a qualitative approach through library research, the study synthesizes findings from academic literature, national surveys, and recent statistical data (2015–2024). The discussion is framed by Bronfenbrenner's Ecological Systems Theory and the Islamic framework of Maqāṣid al-Sharīʿah. Findings indicate a significant gap in digital literacy among parents and teachers, limited institutional readiness for digital pedagogy, and increasing exposure of children to harmful digital content. The article argues that current research often isolates the roles of parents and teachers, overlooking their synergistic potential in shaping children's character through a values-based framework. As a novelty, this study proposes a four-pillar tarbiyah model—parents, teachers, community, and the state—rooted in Islamic principles to promote digital ethics, character education, and spiritual development. This integrative approach is expected to serve as a practical and conceptual guide in constructing a holistic digital education ecosystem that aligns with Islamic values.
