Abstract

Stunting is a condition of failure to grow and develop in children under five caused by various factors, including lack of nutritional intake, experiencing repeated infections, and inadequate psychosocial stimulation. The excess of bacteria, especially pathogenic bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract, causes inflammation, imbalance in the gut microbiome, and malabsorption of nutrients; this impacts growth dependence, causing stunting. This study aims to determine the total number of bacteria in the digestive tract of stunting toddlers in Bone-bone Village and Pepandungan Village, Baraka District, Enrekang Regency using the qPCR method. This study used a molecular method, namely the quantitative PCR (q-PCR) method with 16SrRNA primers, to detect total bacteria. The subjects of this study were stunting toddlers in the village of Bone-bone and the village of Pepandungan, totaling 21 people plus ten controlled people. This type of research is a quantitative descriptive study using a cross-sectional study design (cross-sectional) by identifying the total number of bacteria found in the feces of stunting toddlers. The results obtained from the q-PCR method show that the average total number of bacteria in stunted children was 2.28 log DNA copies/gram compared to normal children at 5.95 log DNA copies/gram, with a difference between the two groups of subjects as much as 3.67 log DNA copies/gram. The results obtained indicate that bacteria do not cause the incidence of stunting in the two villages. Keywords: Stunting, Gut Microbiome, 16SrRNA, q-PCR

Abstract

Pangan Jajanan Anak Sekolah (PJAS) memiliki kontribusi penting terhadap pemenuhan kebutuhan energi harian siswa, namun juga berpotensi menimbulkan risiko kesehatan apabila tidak memenuhi aspek keamanan pangan. Anak usia sekolah merupakan kelompok rentan terhadap paparan kontaminan biologis maupun kimia akibat rendahnya pemahaman tentang higiene dan keamanan pangan. Kondisi wilayah pesisir dengan suhu lingkungan yang relatif tinggi dapat mempercepat kerusakan pangan dan meningkatkan risiko penggunaan bahan berbahaya, seperti formalin, pada makanan. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan meningkatkan pengetahuan siswa SDN 1 Soropia, Kabupaten Konawe, Provinsi Sulawesi Tenggara mengenai pemilihan jajanan yang aman, sehat, dan higienis. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi tahap persiapan, pre-test, edukasi interaktif, dan evaluasi melalui post-test terhadap 38 siswa kelas IV dan V. Materi edukasi mencakup pengenalan jajanan sehat, pentingnya mencuci tangan sebelum makan, bahaya jajanan terbuka dan kotor, risiko penggunaan pewarna berlebihan, pengenalan formalin, serta pentingnya membaca label pangan melalui konsep Cek KLIK BPOM. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan siswa pada seluruh indikator, terutama terkait bahaya formalin pada makanan dan pentingnya membaca label pangan. Selain itu, siswa mulai mampu mengenali ciri jajanan yang aman dan memahami pentingnya perilaku hidup bersih dalam mencegah penyakit akibat pangan yang tidak aman. Kegiatan edukasi berbasis sekolah terbukti mampu meningkatkan pemahaman siswa mengenai keamanan pangan serta mendorong perilaku konsumsi yang lebih sehat pada anak usia sekolah di wilayah pesisir.

Abstract

The use of local wisdom-based teaching materials is important to help students understand the material while fostering appreciation for regional culture. This study aims to develop and determine the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of science teaching materials based on the local wisdom of the Mbojo tribe on the topic My Indonesia is Rich in Culture for fourth-grade students at SDN Inpres Kaleo. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, which includes analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation.The subjects consisted of 9 students in the limited trial, 1 teacher, and 14 students in the field trial. Data were collected through observation, interviews, expert validation questionnaires, practicality questionnaires, and tests, then analyzed using qualitative and quantitative approaches. The results showed validation scores of 95% from material experts and 89.29% from media experts, both categorized as very valid. Practicality was indicated by teacher responses of 97.92% and student responses of 93.61% and 92.68%, categorized as very practical. The N-gain score of 0.71 indicates high effectiveness. Thus, the teaching materials are very valid, practical, and effective. Teachers are encouraged to use them as references, students to use them optimally, and future researchers to develop  it with different cultures.

Abstract

Rational drug use is an important component in improving public health. However, literacy related to medicine management remains low, particularly among school-aged adolescents who are beginning to develop independence in maintaining their health. Limited understanding of how to obtain, use, store, and dispose of medicines may increase the risk of inappropriate medicine use. Therefore, DAGUSIBU education needs to be introduced early as a promotive and preventive effort. This community service activity aimed to improve the knowledge and understanding of students at SMP Negeri 20 Kendari regarding proper, safe, wise, and rational medicine management in daily life. The activity was conducted as DAGUSIBU education on April 30, 2026, at SMPN 20 Kendari for two hours, involving 25 eighth-grade students. The activity included a pretest, material delivery through a lecture supported by PowerPoint and leaflets, discussion, question-and-answer sessions, and a posttest using a modified instrument. The results showed an increase in students’ knowledge after DAGUSIBU education. The average correct answers increased from 11.5 or 46% in the pretest to 24.6 or 98.4% in the posttest. Improvements occurred in all indicators, particularly in understanding the term DAGUSIBU, official sources for obtaining medicines, storage, dosage, directions for use, and disposal of expired medicines. In conclusion, DAGUSIBU education can improve students’ understanding of proper medicine management.
